  1. Al-Kharid - the two are just about on the same minimap
  2. Tiara's are the best XP (best way is to wear one blank in, carry talisman & ess) craft runes then unequip and do the tiara. Limited by the number of talismans you can collect, of course, but the XP (from the wearing method) is equivalent to an extra load of ess for every 7 - Tiara is 5x xp, but you lose 1 space every time so that is equivalent to +4 ess on the load. It you take an extra tiara/talisman pair, you lose two spaces, so that is only eqivalent to +3 ess. If you can't craft a silver tiara, they can often be found in general stores that are near a forge, Falador or Al-Kharid are most likely.
  3. Crumbles are not cheap, unless you can survve long enough against Ankou (Stronghold) to safespot them - can drop good stuff like laws, mithril ores, addy arrows, or junk, like very few coins. Strikes, either fire (staff + 2:1 air / mind) or earth (staff + 1:1 air / mind) or failed cursing are about the only good F2P mage training methods - anything that uses higher runes swaps faster training, foe extra time raising funds to buy the runes. Going mage to mage with the dark wizards is one tactic - you need food, as they DO hit, but you have a good chance of collecting a few better runes while using only strikes - opening the attack with a curse is probably a good idea, as it may shorten the battle. PS. best to be 41 combat or higher, or the level 20 may attack you, instead of you picking on the level 7's.
  4. North for navigation (gets confusing otherwise). In mines, rotated to keep repawning rocks in view. Traversing edgville-mind altar route - rotated to face any lurking white dots.
  5. One thing to add, when you go to the altar, may as well fill up the remaining space with un-noted ess, craft your first lot without paying a runner.
  6. "Carlem Aber Camerinthum Purchai Gabindo." Vague recollection that it's the 4th one on the list - if it changes now, than that's new!
  7. Store overstocks can be a lucky opportunity - occasionally you see 50+ steel plates, huge numbers of maple bows - mind you, better still if you can catch the seller and make a better offer than the pitiful amount the store will be paying. With a decent combat level, taking a fire staff and nats would enable you to alch drops - plus if you can safespot mage or range, then you could stay until you run out of ammunition. Melee, you tend to be limited by the amount of food you have..
  8. Wizard (g) - Yes Green Dragonhide (g) - depends on level... 40 ranged, plus 40 defence and Dragon Slayer for the body - same rules as plain green dragonhide.
  9. Taking the F2P staffs: Air: Good for 1 space combat spells (with chaos or death), or a free choice of attack spell using other runes. The "swiss army knife" of mage combat staffs. Water/Earth: Use with body & opposite rune for curses, or chaos & opposite rune for crumbles. Fire: Way to go for all fire spell casters, get the best value damage for each missile rune, also excellent for alch and superheat. In the members staffs, Lava aids both fire and earth spells, while Mud is well equipped for curse-class spells & single shot crumbles. The slayer staff is best for heavy duty crumbling, as the only one which can autocast, though with no economization on rune usage.
  10. http://firewallleaktester.com/tests_overview.php Jetico scores best in the leaktests.
  11. If it's the pirate look, I suppose an iron scimmy would double as a cutlass. For an unusual shield, how about elemental, though you'd need to be able to defet a level 35 earth elemental.
  12. RS anonymous - I like it! "My name is (x) and I'm addicted to one of the least detailed online games there is" It's like being addicted to tea drinking!
  13. I'll be awkward - I'd rather have a rubber chicken, to go to Lumby and whack noobs with. Scythe or Phat? I guess the Phat, as an investment.
  14. Not sure it's worth depleting your supply of strength pots there, unless it means an extra kill per load of food. They ARE terrible combat XP, but with a a decent weapon and armour (try the silverlight, unless you have a rune weapon), mid-level combat should do it. They are abn extremely tough propostion for any pure though, other than a mage or ranger that's good and lucky at safespotting. One top tip: Remember your escape, do NOT leave it until your last few HP and no food before moving out - if you are on the lower end of the reasonable levels for this, the deadly reds are certain to nip you on the way out. Tele's? I generally do without, relying on a planned escape instead, with 3 more lobsters to cover my escape. Another thing... the enemy I fear most among Lessers or Ankou.... My cordless mouse batteries - if they die during an "eating required" combat, then you've been PKed by your own mouse!
  15. A VERY small advantage in seperate levelling, since with all XP to one combar stat, you gain a level, then have the advantage given by it while persuing other levels. It is very, very minor, and overshadowed by the weapon effectiveness - if controlled whip does damage faster than the alternative, then controlled whip will ulimately gain levels faster.
  16. If that's level 12 fishing, then I'd say "go fish", net/sea unril 15, cook and drop (or banknote/drop) all the shrimp, from 15 (can do it lower, but at 15, you start netting anchovies that are poor cooking xp), then bait dish for sardine/herring. Then at 20, fly fish rivers for trout - heals 7, and plenty good enough for training, though not really a match for PKing unless you take noob armour and protect your weapon when you lose! There are many supply skills I could happily do without (was thinking of making a "no-skiller"), but the thought of having to hit the markets every time :ohnoes: Actually, Kebabs (seller in Al-K) are a possible, but they are random - good ones can be up with the best, but a bad one will virtually PK you in combat.
  17. Just checked RHQ city guide, even the fancy clothes shop doesn't do them. If you don't care what colour cape, ther are other capes stocked (mostly red, I think champs guild has either blue or green. Black capes, just keep doing highwaymen, at least it's a pretty reliable drop, you either get one or you don't. Blue wizards drop so many other things that it can be a long wait for a top.
  18. If you can FIND the head, you can put it back together, though if there are a lot of ash piles and left logs from a slash & burn session, PANIC! Everyone sees it fly, but the landing spot is "your drop", appearing to you first, and then after the usual time, to anyone.
  19. Digital zoom is just a con trick, the only zoom that counts is OPTICAL. All digital zoom does is either: 1. Pre-magnify a segment of the image, with no increase in detail. This may slightly improve quality, by reducing the impact of any compression artifacts. 2. Crop a segment of the image. All this achieves is to save memory space and make the on-camera preview larger. A really cool feature to have, is movie capture with sound, though if that sounds good, maybe a pocketDV (digital, uses card, can take a WHOLE card of video) or a camcorder may be better. A digicam with movie has better stills capability, but is often limited to clip-length video if it has that feature. A pocketDV is geared primarily to the video function, but some can take good megapixel stills too, but without the range of features.
  20. Danger, nasty protection http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GameGuard http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NProtect
  21. The base XP and hit xp of air strike are miserable - so I thought. but: Air = 5.5, max hit 2 (1 mind + air staff) Earth = 9.5, max hit 6 (1 mind, 1 air + earth staff) Actually not a lot in it for rune usage, though if you make your own, the shorter route to air means earth strike wins hands down. The xp rate over time, would tend to be better for a better spell, of the lower spells, I'm an exclusive fire strike user, even though it needs 2 airs.
  22. I thought the swarm went for anyone? Running away from a random is 100% acceptable, though some of them cannot be run from (try "safe spotting" the sandwich lady and see where that gets you!).
  23. Jessops http://www.jessops.com/Store/c170/1-170 ... tails.aspx and Pixmania are probably worth a look too There are 3 basic formats to choose from: 1. Memory card - in the cheaper category of camera, but mead costs increase dramatically with capacity, unless you can offload to a laptop or standalon media card to hard drive unit. This format connects by USB2 or putting the card into a reader. 2. Tape - the "traditional" format, but avoid "microMV" as it has poor compatibility with anything other than the rather lame software with it - MiniDV is more common. Generally, will need an IEEE1394 (aka. "Firewire") connection, which may require fitting a card if the computer does not already have it. 3. DVD (normally 3") The big advantage of direct to DVD recording is that no connection is needed. The result can normally play directly in a DVD-Player, or can be ripped to computer for further editing. Given the price of small format DVD media, using RW media and transferring / re-using would be better.
  24. Trimmed armour is NOT an investment, since there is a continuing supply of it from treasure trails. If you want to show off, then trimmed is cheaper than a rare, and you could just about take it to some less dangerous combat zones. Alternately, pile the cash into materials for levelling or merchanting until you can afford an investment-grade rare.
  25. Saving the page when the world is available is reputed to be another trick. Main problem with the world select, is that when you DO get a spot on the select page, by the time you get to the login, it's gone and you're waiting for the next one.
