  1. Other quests offer a choice: The "Attack Rewards" section on Kbase lists both types, those which specifically give attack XP and those with optional rewards, such as the 2x 10,000 xp lamps from "One Small favour" http://kbase.runescape.com/viewarticle. ... le_id=1771
  2. You get both smithing and magic. You still need the same level smithing to do it, and the same amount of coal. Iron superheats with 100% success, but what a waste of nats!
  3. Unless it just improved my luck in getting it, I'd say it may increase the max hit by 1, at the right point in the arrow type / level scale. By the same token, the Mage boosting prayers should increase the possible max hit of the Slayer Dart spell only, the only spell with a hit that is level-dependent.
  4. It's magic! The note represents the item in the bank, so when you cast a spell on it, the spell is carried to the item through the note. After all, if a spell can transport you from place to place, zapping an item in the bank is no problem.
  5. For a complete newbie with no money-making skill levels: Do Rune Mysteries, mine 25 rune essence, join the World 16 air run. 2-2.5k per run for doing no more than effectively bringing crafters their own essence - you arrive with 25 un-noted essence, enter the altar, trade with a crafter for cash and 25 noted essence, take back to bank, rinse and repeat. The "official" air company rate is 2.5k (or 125 airs, if you use a crafter giving free runes instead of cash), but when no 2.5k crafters are on duty, you can usually find 2-2.1k The only real drawback, is that it doesn't help your levels.
  6. Another reason for the update to their "toolkit", maybe they are planning other games using the improved engine. One improvement that would be nice to see, is some adjustment to suit different resolutions.
  7. Never seen an inbound, never had to allow an inbound, never had a problem. I'd say it DOESN'T need inbound.
  8. XP or cash - at first I thought it was simple. Smelting: 17.5xp per bar, 9 bars per load Smithing: 37.5xp per bar, 27 bars per load At first glance you get better XP if you smith them out, and more cash if you sell the bars, BUT: If you buy ores and smith items, you will lose money, a lot of it. If you mine your own ores, you lose time, but gain mining level. If you recycle the cash from bar trading into buying more ores, then you can gain smithing XP (slowly) while multiplying your stock. Just depends, you can recycle several times and then smith items, or trade a float of 500 / 1K bars and smith any extra you can make, or go flat out at steel bar making / merchanting.
  9. Nearest bank: Edgeville, to the north. Bury bones, and Leo the gravedigger might let you use the mausolem deposit. PS. if you need food resupply, taking a fly fishing rod, feathers (tinderbox, axe) can let you fish at the river - if you save two spaces by not taking firemaking kit, then you depend on others making fires. Since it's only normal logs and you only need 1 or 2, take a disposable bronze or iron axe, not your main woodcutting rune.
  10. The best spots are nearly always busy... eg. The triple at the north end of the Al-Kharid mine - 3 iron mined with a turn on the spot. Rimmington has possibilities, a bit more spaced (reasonable 3 + 1 grouping, with another pair), long way to bank, so tends to attract either powerminers, or noobs that can't handle any mine monsters. SE Varrock is usually busy as hell, though SW Varrock is often usable.
  11. Depends on merit / usefulness etc. Locked junk would be better scooped off to a private or public "garbage bin" area.
  12. Since you can't get zammy robes in F2P, the only way to get a red outfit is to change your character clothes to red.
  13. Any level of the "special" monster has the potential to drop a piece. The Northeast room has Ankou ONLY, but the "safe spot" is unusable until they go non-aggressive. According to a guide in the Archive of wisdom, the south-central room has a better safe spot near the entrance... gonna test it with a few K of fire strikes, as I need to get my RC and mage levels up
  14. Edgeville all the way - at least in F2P, any PKer has trouble getting more than one hit before safety. I favour dragonhide (if you can) as the mages are usually more troublesome. I've also done a "double danger walk", taking a pickaxe and moving out to the skeleton coal mine after mind crafting. Didn't get hit too badly, even when a mage tried fire-blasting... also had my skull sceptre as a one-space exit route - with the parts for another banked and full charge on this one, I'll tap out if I have to (no teleblock in F2P). Those routes are considerably more dangerous in P2P, with snare, teleblock, ice, poison etc.
  15. Combining pots don't save space in bank account Exactly - probably worse, in fact, unless you make in batches of 4x 3 dose, combine to 3x 4 dose and recycle the spare vial. Items in DIFFERENT conditions are the enemy of bankspace... raw materials, half made items, fully made. If not practising crafting at the moment, then lose the moulds - my usual decision on discarding an item depends on how easy it is to get, so things that can always be bought cheaply in stores are first to go.
  16. Unless you are absolutely, positively, CERTAIN that it really is NEVER, then leave it in your bank, if you came back after a while, then it will be worth more (unless Jagex really do the dirty on old rares). Alternatively: 1. Give it to the friend who helped you most, or who you "forgot" to pay back a loan of 10k when you were level 3. 2. Have some sort of contest, or a raffle... closest guess to the number of coins, cabbage, or perhaps total number of items in your bank. 3. Auction or sell it, and then do a humungous drop party on the proceeds. Or for a fun way, wear (or better, just carry) it to a war, trouble is, you'll miss the scrum when you die. Better if you die to a monster, otherwise the one that kills you gets first dibs.
  17. This thread needs....... http://www.shedumpedme.net/
  18. The exemptions are also confusing, unclear if it covers journeys which are short OR occasional, short AND occasional, and how such things would be defined. People should be allowed to take responsibility for their safety, and for those in their care. After all, smoking is know to be harmful, so if "big brother" is going to dictate our safety, smoking and all smoking materials should be banned immediately.
  19. Depends on the target. Focus on one (collecting) skill, or a collecting / processing pair. If the aim is ore trading, powermine, maybe take back iron to bank. But if you want to develop smithing, without paying out a fortune, take back every ore, make progress through bronze to iron. Fishing, better to cook what you catch. Woodcutting - may as well burn logs you don't want, though even normal logs by the K can find a buyer (crucial for arrow fletching). One other piece of advice, use the quests and use them early. Cooks assistant = better success when cooking. Doric's quest = better mining level, can move to steel pick after doing Doric's from nothing (using picked up iron) Goblin diplomacy = crafting level Sheep shearer = cradfting level Knights sword = monster smithing level - run it while 1-iteming, and you can save the blurite ore if you've eaten all your food. Since the quests give a fixed amount of XP, they advance you much quicker if taken on early. Dorics (on dropped iron) and Knights (with traded iron bars) could mean skipping bronze altogether.
  20. If you want to make chocolate cakes, it's actually a two step process. The cake can burn, but not sure if it's possible to fail when chocolating a cake, so do cakes, then do chocolate, as you can do the chocaolating in a bank, if yo have enough cakes and chocolate banked - the dust left by the sweets & easter eggs also works. One thing that works well for F2P (may be better P2P ways, such as the flour sack) is to take a few pie dishes, a lot of grain to the cooking guild, then make apple pies, empty, repeat until grain used up. Fly fish & cook has got to be about the best way though, for fast fishing & cooking XP.
  21. Fail = splash effect Success = purple rings effect - a bit like the rune essence teleport.
  22. If those are the right stats (77 attack, 75 strength, 78 defence) then you don't have the same problems as a defence pure. The impact of accurate / aggressive / defensive selection on your combat effectiveness is likely to be minimal.
  23. Faster, definitely Al-K is one click and a small readjustment (Furnace to bank), a slightly larger adjustment going bank to furnace. Definitely the shortest, onlt reason to prefer Fally is if you hop out to Dorics anvil for some emergency smithing. Al-K = Smelting town Varrock = Smithing town Fally = Smelt/smith (non-bulk)
  24. The wizards south of Falador drop only their own rune type (or nothing but ashes, or a talisman), but are often busy. Stronghold catablepons have dropped water, earth, fire, a few laws - and some other stuff - you want a tough fight, they are, though can be safespotted with range or mage when they give up attacking... got about 10 sceptre tops before I left, using iron arrows generously donated by the minotaurs on the first level.
