Range would add ranged combat levels. Amulet? - try a strength or a power Weapon, if not the silverlight, then iron, scimmy for most things, warhammer if crush hits better. Watch out if switching between 3 option and 4 option weapons, as you'll end up on the wrong setting!
-
Vampire slayer - though with 1 strength, don't even think of trying it before 30 attack / addy weapon

Karamja has the most gold in one place (other than the crafting guild), but its a helluva long trip.

Out of 3 boxes so far (and before it was boxed), 500gp, bucket, other junk item. If 1000gp will help you, take the cash, otherwise take a chance. Any advance on a diamond (street price 1-2k) or a steel plate (1200 high alch value).

So um im knew to the whole forum thing, so.. (read on)

Mystic fears? - sounds like that would be a mage then? A powerful member mage in full mystic, or one like mine that keeps contributing runes to the stronghold scavengers :boohoo: -
Best mage clothes/armour for level 37 F2P
Doomster replied to sangohiratsu's topic in Help and Advice
Black top is as good as blue (it's only the blue hat which is better). The dark wizards drop more easily, but watch out for the level 20. The "useful" kit is a staff (magic or air, water, earth, fire), ammy of magic (or power, if you want a compromise toward defence), hat (blue), top (either), anti-dragonfire shield (wooden is 2nd choice). Normal boots (not stronghold) and gloves. If using prayer, monk bottom, otherwise leather chaps, or a skirt to complete the wizard look. -
Prayer? - like the dark side of the force, quick to join you in fight, but quick to leave you as well. The new prayers mean that all combat types can increase their attack, but generally for one combat only (F2P, no potions to recharge) then just carry wasted levels. Some favour training all combat (other than defence) for extra hitpoints, but 4 hitpoints are also a combat level. Equally, training non-hitpoint mage only and nothing else, would mean a low HP mage pure with incredible attack, but which could be knocked down in a single hit.

The piles of 5k I've picked up there  The cautious way is to leave and bank each reward, restock food and then portal to the end of level, ladder down untill you get to the one you do next. Taking tele runes is optional - recommended if you don't know the route, as you you can end up backed into a corner, but going to fight, it's better to take 3 more food and keep the door close, though you can be hit as you go through (death piles inside the door area - yay!).

A room near the start has JUST level 75 Ankou, saves dodging the other things, but the "safe" spot is not very safe, until they are no longer aggressive. They max hit 8, by my count, though a 1 defence pure (Rune weapon) can take one down on a load of food. Ranging them may be possible, but a pure ranger is gonna get slaughtered before establishing dominace from the safe spot. Mage, even worse: While crumble works very well, jumping between spell menu & food will be the death of you - they saw off my pure mage in short order, but on my main, held them off / killed 1 or 2 in melee, then changed to mage kit and used up my spare chaos runes from safe spot. One reason for the safe spot problem, compared to Lessers at Karamja, is they are not as busy, often you face a whole room of them single handed. Unless hunting the sceptre piece, there are no "superstar" drops, at least not in F2P - some addy arrows & pairs of laws.
-
For monster drops, it shouldn't make any difference if you take a roomful at one sitting, or do them one at a time - you could get the rare drop from the first one, or perhaps never. A whole mythology sprung up: Kill them quickly, kill them slowly, let them hit you at least once, let them hit you to low HP - all have been suggested as things that were thought to influence the drop. One very common superstition is that you will NOT get good drops if fighting defensive.
-
Not really what most would call a pure (perhaps a "rune pure") if you did dragon slayer as part of the 40 defence, or a full dragonhide pure ranger. Actually though, it looks more like a balanced impure hybrid. If member (or will be), then cramming to 60 attack for a dragon weapon would be a logical step.

The stronghold is also a pretty hot training spot, with the Minotaurs dropping Iron (occasionally bronze) arrows, noted essence, copper, tin. Also bronze med helm. Everything except the helms stacks, and safespotting behind the fence means no food usage. It's multicombat, non-aggressive, and if the level 12's go down too quickly, move on to the level 27's near the end of the level - just portal to the end room from the entrance, after completeing the level, then move one room back. It's ranger paradise.
-
Prayer on a pure - works better in members (Prayer pots etc.) than in F2P. While the new mage / range prayers are open to F2P, there is still the basic problem that prayer will run out long before your food does, leaving you with a few extra useless combat levels until recharged.

As I understand it, gives 4x the xp of just burying, but takes longer to do - certainly not worth doing with ordinary bones. The other way to get higher XP, is to have, or get invited to, a really good POH altar - the gilded altar with two lit burners is only a little short of ectoing (3.5x instead of 4x), and if the house is also equipped with some teleport portals, that cuts the travel time too.

What's the craziest deal you've ever made in a sale?
Doomster replied to Benoit4whc's topic in General Discussion
I can beat the original 42k for a rune scimmy... On the way to the bank in Varrock W1, some guy is "buying addy scimmy, 45k" - actually walking away thinking it's a scam, where's the guy selling for 30k, when he trades me. So I unequip the addy scimmy I'm carrying, and he puts up a note... it's 3 rune ores - more or less 45k according to the usual valuation. He says "I don't care, I'm rich" - while I'm still so stunned I never managed to note down the RSN or even do a "TY". Must have been desperate for an addy scimmy - though it's usually easier to buy a rune one than an addy. Actually, that addy scimmy would have ended up in the general store, as I'd just got 40 attack and had gone there to buy rune -
Power, the king of ramger amulets in F2P ... +6 to attack and +6 to defence (only 1 less than the defence ammy) - well worth spending 7-10k on at W1 varrock west. Also replace the cowl with a coif - (sold at Scavvo's in the champ's guild or member-crafted - tradable F2P). Minotaurs in the stronghold would increase your iron arrow stock - shoot 'em with bronze, collect them many iron arrow drops, the safe spots (fences) and arrow drops mean a ranger can go in there and not need to come out - ever!
-
Do you range as well? You could take range kit and weapon, and alternate safe-spot ranging and melee. The Mino's aint that tough, I send my Iron pure to try fot the 3rd sceptre piece, though at a rate of typically only two per trout/salmon load, it ain't fast :wall: Could use better food, but I take rod, feathers, tinderbox and a disposable iron axe, only going back every 4 or 5 runs to unload drops.
-
I guess what most players would imagine as a "prayer pure" is one with full protects (level 43) and... F2P: Monk robes, iron (helm/shield), holy symbol, and Mace up to rune. P2P: Initiate or white armour (20 or 10 defence), prayer book. Is there a dragon mace? Essentially an Iron / Black / Mithril pure with defensive prayer.

Failed curse is another option, generally the cheapest (free it you mine ess and craft all the runes), but oh, SO BORING, shooting them one by one. Actually, Crumbles are 1 by 1 as well, at least without a Slayer staff. If you can survive them until they go non-aggressive, the Stronghold Ankous are pretty good - everything on the death level is a crumble target, though the ankous can drop (F2P) - the second skull piece, runes (laws or ?), addy arrows, coins, or nothing but bones. A few un-safe spots, as unless they are non-aggressive, one usually enters the safe spot. AFKing the earth wizard with earth strikes is another possible - though to be fully AFK is against the rules, looking in occasionallt while browsing should be ok. Wouldn't recommend the fire wizard/fire - more inclined to hit you. It is VERY wasteful training, as you get base XP only, lower than for curses, but it does autocast.

Thinking about getting seasick... They should add that highly valuable whale vomit (ambergris) as an item that can be fished... -
Can you get the compass to face EXACTLY straight north?
Doomster replied to Freshwacka's topic in General Discussion
Then you notice the buildings are not perfectly aligned... For mapping, getting the nominal E-W and N-S lines straight would be better than getting the actual compass centred. -
Varrock (Horvik's) for the plate body Falador (Wayne's chains) - for a chainbody Al-Kharid (Louie's / ??) for legs/skirt A full helm (and legs) are sold in the Champions guild (Valaines) No F2P stores sell black shields, the square is a Moss giant drop and the kite is an Ice giant drop - they can turn up in general stores, mostly Lumbridge (player died to giant and kept shield but doesn't use them), Rimmington (from blurite dugeon) or Falador.

Is this the right way to cast "fail curse"?
Doomster replied to Prime_0bjective's topic in Help and Advice
DEFENCE pure err, sorry, but magic is a combat stat, so you'll gain levels for it. PS. the other magic penalty piece you can use is stronghold boots, another -3 - and a defence pure should be able to charge through all the levels, maybe even all at once with one load of food (on a "get through" run without stopping to fight). -
Is the normal general store stuff 10x priced as well? 1 gp items at 10 gp? Maybe they just wanted to make that more expensive, and forgot how crazy it would get for player-sold items.

were is the best f2p training spot for prayer
Doomster replied to bestmo10's topic in Help and Advice
F2P, there is NO shortcut... Just bury bones, of stuff you kill, of stuff other players kill - chicken or cows, where other players are only taking feathers and hides, Al-Kharid warriors, varrock wizards, if your combat level is high enough for the level 20 not to to start earth striking you. Some would say giants, such as the hill giants, for big bones - 3x the xp of normal ones, but if they take more than 3x as long to collect... The wilderness boneyard is probably the best bet. Of course, P2P can think about ectoing for 4x the xp, or seeking invitations to a good POH altar.
