  1. Yeah, I'm a performance major. It went really well actually. I got 93% for the performance in my trials, and I played better for the actual HSC, so I'm hoping I go well. I only expect to get around 75% for the written part of the music exam though. How'd yours go?
  2. Fair enough. Thanks, I play violin. Yeah, we got the same talk. I'm gonna be staying where I am for my gap year, but getting my AMUS in violin, and getting a bit of experience teaching. Are you going straight onto uni or taking a gap year?
  3. UAI is the University Admissions Index. It's basically just how well you did in your subjects (throughout the year and in the final exams) in relation to other students doing the same subjects. UAIs go from 1 to 100, but I think if you get 35 or under, you don't actually get one. Just think of it like a percentage. Wow, good luck with that man. So, if you don't get a high enough UAI for the IT/Law, you're not gonna do Arts for a year then try and get in based off that? As for my audition, I'll be doing them next year. I'm taking a gap year, so I just have to apply online this year, but I'm allowed to audition next year, which is good. I'm going to try ANU (Canberra) and the Conservatorium (Sydney). The Conservatorium is probably a better uni, but I'd rather get into ANU just because I have family there, and I don't hate the city, but we'll see. Where is Macquarie at, may I ask?
  4. Assuming you intended that spelling joke, I love you. I'm a pretty big fan of these bad-boys.. [hide=] Smiths Cheese & Onion Crinkle Cut[/hide]
  5. As for me, I'm doing Standard English, General Maths, Music 1, Physics, Chemistry, and Ancient History. Based on my marks (75-80s in English and 95 in Maths) I really should be doing Advanced in both of those, but it's a bit late now. I'd also be doing 3-unit Music, but my school didn't have a teacher that could teach it when I was in year 11. I started really getting into the study last Monday. To be honest, with most of the subjects, I already know most of what I need to know, with the exception of Ancient History, which I have been working really hard on in the past week. I'm hoping to get a UAI of 80-85, but I will most likely get 75-80. It doesn't matter too much though, because I'll be doing music at university, and you don't need a UAI to get in, just an audition.
  6. My apologies if a thread has already been made about this. This thread is for any of the Australians among us that are completing their High School Certificate this year. Well, the NSW exams start in just a bit over two weeks, though some of us have already completed the practical aspects of some of our subjects. What subjects do you do? How did your graduation/muck-up go? How much study have you been getting in/are you going to get in? What UAI are you going for, and what will you be doing next year? And most importantly, what are you planning for Schoolies? Also feel free to post in here if you're in year 10 or 11 and just thinking really far ahead.
  7. Another one. Great. (Won't be watching it.)
  8. I didn't realize you were into death metal.. Just finished listening to Ire Works (Album) by The Dillinger Escape Plan. I don't know what's happened. I used to love this guys, but that is such a boring album. Moving onto Undertow (Album) by Tool. It's my least favourite of all their albums (though I haven't heard Opiate) but that might just be because I've never really given it a chance. So, I'm giving it a chance now. :)
  9. You're going to end up killing yourself if you get that annoyed every time someone does something stupid.
  10. That is an incredibly cool album cover. Earlier: Madvillain - Madvillainy (Album) Now: Buck 65 - Situation (Album) Next: Karl Hector and the Malcouns - Sahara Swing (Album) Though I'll probably only get through half of Sahara Swing before I decide to hit the sack. Even though it's "holidays", I'm still waking up early tomorrow to do study.
  11. Thanks Klankaos. It will probably be a few weeks before I check them out, but they're next on the list of bands for me to look at. :) Flodder, you should check out . Amazing hip-hop collaboration between MC MF Doom and producer Madlib. Even if you don't like hip-hop, check them out. They're the artist that got me into the genre.
  12. I went through a stage of thinking they were gods, but their music doesn't really do much for me anymore. As other people have said, they're talented, but they just play notes. There's nothing in it. And now I'm annoyed that for some reason they're #14 on my Last.fm.
  13. Check out Karl Hector and the Malcouns. Really incredible funk. They only have one album out, Sahara Swing. Even if funk isn't really your thing, they are still incredible, and I highly recommend them.
  14. I completely agree. Probably the funniest thing about the show for me is the parts that go on for about 10 times longer than they would in any other show. Everything but the chicken and Peter fighting scenes :wall: That was actually the main example I had in my mind. Hehehe... classic.
  15. As much as I love BTBAM, they should not have covered that song. Tommy is a great vocalist, but he doesn't have the right voice for that song. Before: Emperor - Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk (Album) Now: Emperor - Prometheus: The Discipline of Fire and Demise (Album) Next: Mayhem - De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas (Album) With the exception of Burzum, I very rarely listen to the original Norwegian Black Metal bands. It's nice to give them a listen every now and then though. :)

    Bass

Boris begs to differ with you on every level. Some of the most powerful drone bass/metal bass in the business, more powerful than most electronic stuff I've heard. Oh yeah, on that note, also check out Sunn O))).
  17. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallout_3#Awards It's at least got a little bit of a chance. And it's looking pretty good. I'll definitely be picking it up.
  18. I completely agree. Probably the funniest thing about the show for me is the parts that go on for about 10 times longer than they would in any other show.
  19. I can relate, I was really close friends with a girl who was like that. With those kinds of people, I think it's easiest if you remain friends with them, but just don't let yourself become close friends with them (or if you already are, then drift apart a bit). If you let yourself get too close to them, you generally end up getting hurt, and it sounds like that's what has been happening with you. (Correct me if I'm wrong.)
  20. My sister married a guy who she had known on the internet for about 4 years. He lived in America, and she lived in Australia. He came over to meet her, staying with us for 2 weeks, and they started going out. A few months later she went over to American and they got engaged. I'm not trying to divulge into a story about my personal life, just using it as an example as to how friendships and relationships can develop over MSN. I get sick of all the people around who view MSN as such an impersonal thing; it is just another medium of communication. Granted, it is not as effective for communication as face-to-face talking, but that in no way means you can't have a relationship through it. To be honest, that statement just made you look like an idiot in my eyes.
