  1. And there I was under the impression that people make music.
  2. I used to try and catch butterflies. Haven't done that in yearssss. There's something a little bit sadistic about catching animals and pinning them to a plaque.
  3. If I was in your position, I wouldn't have any second thoughts. However, it would be wise to have a back-up plan if it falls to pieces.

    4Chan

4chan is made of magic. ... and bile and gore and other vile things.
  5. Wow. That looks like an incredibly journey. TIF is glad to have you back though. :)
  6. That's because all the earphones worth more than $5 are in-ear. There's not much point in us giving recommendations for non-in-ear earphones, as they're all the same. And the point is, his reason for not liking in-ear earphones is that they fall out too easy. While that is true for the in-ear ones that only stick in a little bit, it is not true for those that go into the ear-canal a bit further, such as those from Etymotic. Anyway, Kill_Thomas9, I'd strongly recommend you get yourself a pair of Etymotic earphones. They are in-ear, but they form a sort of vacuum seal, and will not fall out if you put them in properly.
  7. Agreed, except I think Within Temptation is gothic/symphonic metal. Pure symphonic metal would be Therion. I know. But I tend to ignore Gothic as a genre prefix. To me it just seems like a slightly more specific definition of Symphonic and is a bit unnecessary.
  8. I've always just called them Progressive Rock. Progressive as a genre often includes many other elements of different genres anyway. However, it's kind of hard to ignore how similar the vocals are to that of an Emo singer, so you could call it Progressive Emo.
  9. I'd label them as Alternative Metal, but Rap Metal works as well.
  10. Judas Priest - Heavy Metal (NWOBH if you like) The Smashing Pumpkins - Alternative Rock Darkthrone - Black Metal Within Temptation - Symphonic Metal
  11. @ SilverSword: Thanks for the recommendation. I already know Meshuggah, and I think I have one of their albums, but I don't listen to them much. I'll give them another shot. :) Cheese, you should check out Brenoritvrezorkre. They were a French Black Metal band, and a part of the Les Legions Noires movement. I don't know if you'll like them. They're very raw and unrefined, and as such a bit of an acquired taste. Give them a shot anyway. As for albums to start with, perhaps try Nèvgzérýa?

    Muse

    Absolution is a fantastic album.
  13. Not to be an anti-iPod fanboy, but iPods are seriously overrated. I'm beyond happy with my Creative Zen.
  14. I recently bought myself a pair of Etymotic er-6i. Really, really good. They have great sound isolation, and aside from lacking a little bit in the bass area (that can be fixed by just putting on bass boost or whatever on your MP3 player) they have really good quality sound. I'm not understanding why you don't want in-ear earbuds though. All the good ones are in-ear.
  15. A better-quality video could possibly help.
  16. It depends on your definition of sin. In my opinion, there is no distinct set of action that are "sinful". Whether or not one's actions are right are wrong depends on the context, both culturally, and within the situation. To be honest, I have yet to find an action that is wrong no matter the context. As you could probably expect, I do not believe in Satan.
  17. I tend to say "haha" instead. If I find something really funny, I'll go "HAHAHA". However, I'm not going to get on my pedestal about people who say "lol" at completely irrelevant times. I absolutely hate this whole "grammar nazi" thing that this forum in particular has going.
  18. Thanks again How2PK. Einstürzende Neubateun and Ry Cooder are next on my lists of artists to check out, after a few more albums of John Zorn. As for you Cyco, I'm going to recommend you check out Dark Funeral. Really good Black Metal from Sweden. Wouldn't surprise me if you'd already heard of them, but if not, try their album Diabolis Interium.
  19. OT: I think FutureSex/LoveSounds is a fantastic album.
  20. Now: Regina Spektor - Samson Next: Radiohead - Fitter Happier I generally listen to entire albums as opposed to single songs, but at the moment I'm just listening to songs I absolutely love. I'm pretty sure I'm the only person who puts Fitter Happier as the best song on OK Computer.
  21. For the love of god, if you're going to post crap news stories, at least make them real crap news stories.
  22. The fact that the music is out of time at parts sort of lessens the feeling of the song. I don't just mean the video's correlation with the audio either, although that was out as well. I also definitely don't agree with your statement that musicians of the Neoclassical genre should be getting the most respect. Regardless, he's very talented, and it's cool that you're able to have someone that good as your teacher.
  23. IRELAND 788.21 AUSTRALIA 100.83 UNITED KINGDOM 74.73 UNITED STATES 60.21 NEW ZEALAND 23.6 I already knew it was an Irish surname, though I didn't expect it to be so high in Australia. As for my mum's maiden name: [hide=]FRANCE 26.87 NEW ZEALAND 18.24 UNITED KINGDOM 6.77 ARGENTINA 5.76 SWITZERLAND 5.75[/hide] or for the non-Anglicized version: [hide=]ARGENTINA 1253 UNITED STATES 186.24 SPAIN 79.2 AUSTRALIA 20.06 CANADA 11.69[/hide] My grandpa always said we were descended from Portuguese pirates, as we know for a fact that my great great grandfather (I think it was him) was a pirate. Portugal isn't included in the site, but Spain is, so there might be some small shred of truth to that. :)
  24. "...driven by an unidentified black man." I lol'd.
