  1. It might seem as though you are killing them at the same pace or faster, but it's actually not true. I tested my chaotic rapier at them with ~max stab and got 24k slayer xp an hour at ancient caverns, which is like 5-10% less than i would have got with saradomin sword, this all being on task, so off task CR would be much worse, and CLS would be terrifyingly bad. CM is still the best weapon there by ~6%. Also, halos are another item worth discussion on this thread- no doubt they are never worth getting(just like the MA rings), but the people that have them seem to prefer this reduced drain to more defense and 5 stab/3 str and 3 prayer, which undoubtedly slows you down. Although it's easy to calculate how much money you'd have to be making to wear one over the other, you also have to take into account the value of the time you'll be saving- if you win 2 minutes every hour, that's 2 minutes more xp, 2 minutes more drops too, and in the long run, this extra is just invaluable.
  2. Is that even something to be proud of? There used to be more obvious goals in the old days, your account is nothing special, and unless you max out with 1 str, it'll never be. I'd be alot more impressed if it was unranked hp.

Junk is items that don't sell in the grand exchange, but do sell in-game trades, but in a reduced value situations. Stable junk is considered to be worth around 80% of it's nominal value, unstable junk is worth anywhere from 50 to 95% of it's trade value, 50% if it's a manipulated item 10+ times over it's before-manipulation value, 95% when it's crashing but selling at min. Thus, when someone is selling a black partyhat(for the sake of an example) for 2b with stable junk, ge price being 1b, they are actually selling it for around 1,2b ge price. The 20% reduction is there because of the difficulty of getting rid of those items. Now, because the hat would sell for 1,05b on the ge, it would theoretically crash when this profit gets near the junk profit, so around 1,3-1,4b street. Dealing with unstable and manipulated items is a bit more difficult. As a general rule, there are no good methods of obtaining junk fasted then you would normally make money, so it is usually not used that way. The only exception to this rule is price manipulation of useless low value items, where by you just create GE value from nothing(just look at chaos talismans) and can sell high street value items with them, and for the method you need to be experienced and have a big load of money(400+m, 10b for chaos tallys). For normal people, the only thing you can do with high street value items is to trade for other high street items that are useful to you.
  4. The slayer part of the story was pathetic really, in which you just proved that any decent player(most people can make atleast 1m an hour with 3m+ not out of reach) should use bandos instead of proselyte for slayer, Not to mention you forgot to accurately value the extra experience you are to receive, or the drops. Prayer bonus is just ridiculously overrated, I personally use either fire or ardy cape combined with bandos because my time is worth well over 6m an hour(any item, you can get back, but not the time). The part about extra defense and pvp might seem impressive, until you discover that, in any case possible, fighting a melee tank with melee is....stupid. It's borderline relevant when even considering an armors effectiveness and shouldn't be put under such investigation. The only time you are going to fully use the extra defense of barrows is training, and we all know how useless it is even then, not to mention the repairing. What you should have considered, however, is how well either of those armors does against the other two classes or how well they would work in a hybrid setup, and in those situations, bandos is actually BETTER than barrows(more range def, less negative magic attack, prayer ~the same, more strength). Not to even mention the looks, which, undoubtedly, are much, much better(i seem to recall the CLS camps biggest argument about picking their teeth).
  5. Aren't marble portals for teleport portals only? exit portal seems to be the same for everyone.
  6. You also have 11m total xp, and obviously havn't MH'ed, so I don't think you can quite render an opinion on this. Oh right because you know for sure that that is his only account Can I be dogmatic? No. Can I be 95% Sure, yes. Judging by small things which lead me to believe he is a new 'scaper, (TIF join date, skills trained, his response, etc) I can be fairly sure it is. As such, I don't think he is qualified to render an opinion, as at least some MH experience is needed to know what you are talking about on this thread. I'd say the opposite, yes I am a casual player of the game, I have no 99s and sorry to the guy who tried to defend me but this is my 'main'. But firstly there is no need to have experienced these higher level instances of Runescape to know what you are talking about is a style of play which personally I disagree with. The fact does remain that crashing is un-sporting and in my opinion selfish, whether you tag it as elitist or not, the reality is, you will be cutting someone's enjoyment for the sake of you own ambition or dare I say.. greed? Finally by disregarding me as a low levelled nobody surely you prove the point of an aristocracy? I think it's quite important, in an objective view about the thread, for the people that post to know about the problem in their own experience, otherwise everything they can or should say can't really be taken too seriously. Apart from that, crashing has nothing to do with greed, and everything to do about making your life easier, and if it screws someone else over but is actually beneficial to you, why not? If two people are competing for something, it's ridiculous to think that because you got something first, you are automatically the winner. NO. Competition is what drives most people to greatness, and if you don't get crashed by someone who has worked their ass off, you wouldn't have the drive to work on getting better yourself. This has nothing to do with aristocracy, and everything to do with the fact that doing things in the best way possible is what matters in the game, and if it means doing something unpleasant to someone you likely will never see or hear about again, it's not a problem. Also, just to be clear- i hate crashing. Most of what i do is slayer and i never really get crashed in multy combat as there is no reason anyone should, but at the same time, it's very rare for me to take someone elses training spot as it would likely slow me down. Dagannoths in lighthouse is the usual exception, as most of the people who train there are newbs and there are never any empty servers anyway, or when i only see someone level 100 at an otherwise empty multy spot(as they don't need the spawns anyway). I also frequently change servers in nonmulty spots to find empty servers, but i'm constantly being ''crashed'' by those same newbs that would get crashed at DK/TD/bandos because they will not change servers if their life depended on it. It's not really rare to get 3 people at a training spot meant for 1,5 people, and thus, even though i don't crash people, i'm happy if they get treated in the same way when the people can compete. I think crashing in nonmulty is much worse, as you are not only screwing yourself over, but also the other people.
  7. Currently it's making sanfew serums at 77 gp per xp profit, but i doub't you'll get far with those, but because of how the question was asked, it has to be the right one. apart from that, look at a few spreadsheets to find the most efficient method for you to train: http://forum.tip.it/topic/254457-grimys-reference-spreadsheets/
  8. elite clues have ONLY scan and compass clues, so, it's actually quite easy- pick up the clue, if it has an orb attached to it, it's elite, if not, open it, if it has a compass leading somewhere, it's an elite, otherwise, it's level 3.
  9. That is true if you consider there to be no combat skills in the game, as in, those skills can't be trained as they come hand-in-hand with slayer, IF you consider there to be combat skills in the game, and understand that training them takes time, too, slayer shouldn't be, and looking at how popular it is, isn't a particularly hard skill. Slayer is a hard 99 if you are 99 att/str/def/hp/ranged/magic and summoning, as the only efficient xp you are getting then is slayer xp, and the rate is the lowest in game. If you aren't maxed in those stats, slayer can be considered 200-300k an hour skill. As for training skills with no stats at all, it is whole new discussion and really hard to realistically simulate, so assuming 80-99 or 90-99 is much more relevant in the discussion(since there is no reason to max out skills without becoming atleast somewhat wellrounded).
  10. I think prayer bonus is becoming a bit overstated for slaying with piety/turmoil for efficiency, and really, if you value your time as a pro you'd just use the best offencive setup of fire cape and bandos instead of trying to save 50k an hour with SW and proselyte. Do remember, sure, you save those prayer points, but you lose out on +10 str and +1 stab which can easily account for 3-6% more kills. Efficiency is all about looking at the future, not what lays on the ground at that specific moment(as in, the gains might not be as obvious, and the losses become more and more obvious, but you'll be better in the long run).

As far as i can tell, having really low or no defense at all doesn't stop you from killing too many monsters, just ask the rank 3 slayer.
  12. Void mage is terrible, you should never use it. It's best to combine an average-high mage attack bonus with a good prayer bonus there, so SW cape over mage arena cape and so on. Battle robes are a possibility if money is really scarce for you, otherwise, ahrims is much better.
  13. It's worth it if you only do mining and not worth it if you are doing the lrc mine+superheat. Also, BA is much, much more enjoyable than mining.
  14. 1) Na, Turmoil is much better, but piety can help too.(obviously) 2) Assuming all the random drops cover your potion cost(which is about right), 1/600 per whip, 200 an hour, so the hourly profit should be somewhere between 1-1,3m(assuming turm, ext, rapier). Apart from that, camping abyssal demons is not an efficient thing to do. Sure, training slayer with blocks/cancels is narrowly beaten by it(in terms of profit and charms) but i'm 100% sure a combination CT wtf's + DK/TD/frost will easily beat it in overall efficiency by quite a bit(waterfiends being 3x the charms, moneymakers 3x the money).

I think people are also confusing dieing on this thread- With great gear, it is extremely unlikely you'd die because of ''natural causes'', but you ALWAYS run a risk of dieing because of a bad spot of lag or even a DC. It's just like real life, where as you can live in the most healthy way possible and do everything right, but still get cancer or shot in the head, You can't prepare for situations like that in real life(well, not really) but you can(and if you should, as discussed in this thread) prepare for it in a game.
  16. xpx replied to TheAncient's topic in General Discussion
That stuff for an elite? sounds fishy, ironic that you would have lost them. And realistically, i wholeheartedly agree- my networth is substantially more than max money but while thinking about going on my first newschool DK trip(no 2,5 brid or whatever else in the old days) and really wanting to take my rapier, i'd arrive at a bit of a wall- sure, i have no problem risking 10-30m gear, but when you consider the rapier- it's completely off limits, so it really has to dominate the 3 most valuable item's that i take there. And even if you consider the possible death, risking 30m or so, it'd take around 10 hours to make the same money back, which would considerably cut down on your efficiency, and is another reason frost dragons seem more worthwhile as an all-around moneymaker- 90% of the profit guaranteed, no real risk of death.
  17. To everyone posting single clue results- it's irrelevant in this discussion. Even if jagex confirmed this to be true it'd still be feasible to get one of the louzyest rewards from a particularly hard clues and one of the best rewards from a particularly easy clue, so no single clue could ever prove this. I do believe also that it's one item per clue step, much like barrows chests seem to be the total drops from that particular run, but a bit modified(in terms of large kc). Also it's doubtful that this works linearly and that you have any power to control what your reward will be, so it's not really helpful to even discuss it. As for the guaranteed TT rewards, they came down just as i imagined, my last 3 elites being blue firelighters, nardah scrolls and sara arrows, atleast the elites have much higher base value than other clues(around 150k).
  18. they really aren't particularly good for anything apart from looking good, being hard to get and thus a form of condensed money. The sara bow might prove to be an useful asset for DK's as it's one of the best healing weapons in game, but apart from that, the whole concept of those is pitiful.
  19. It's worth as much as it is because of how hard it is to obtain one and the fact that it's the best amulet available for melee combat, and most of the people that use them won't even consider the small cost. Weather you should or not buy one really depends on your other needs aswell, so it'd be hard to give a definitive answer to a question like this.
  20. I wouldn't say high level and avensie slaying should go together in the same sentence(as avensies aren't a great moneymaker at those levels) but you should atleast consider using void and not prepare for a mammoth trip as it would seriously cut down on your efficiency.
  21. I've heard rumors that you are macroing.... Just sayin...anyone can say crap, unless you can back it up, you are going to have to eat it yourself.
  22. xpx replied to Brodly's topic in Help and Advice
yes, you can buy those items within in-game trade. In-game trades affect your abilities at the ge but not the other way around.
  23. You'd have to move back and forth between the wilderness and the barbarian outpost lake, building pyre ships every 5 bones. Not recommended. Slower than using bronze darts on bronze dragons with a bonecuncher. Well, maybe not, but it sucks. Just altar frost dragon bones. na, the droprate of chewed bones is around 1/30, for 1275 bones you need to kill around 7,6k mithril dragons and then you can bury the bones all at once once the ships are burnt, again, it's not efficient, which i never claimed, but it gives you the best xp per bone(12x compared to 5,25x or 6x)
  24. most efficient way is frost dragon bones on gilded altar, the BEST use(as in most extra xp) would be praying frost dragon bones in level 1 wilderness with the barbarian ancestral bonus(from chewed bones) but it would take ages to get it done that way.
  25. You are either an idiot or just overreacting... I have had all the skills to assist any effigie but for rc since the update and have never been PM-ed by a complete stranger to assist an effigie, and the slight spam of people is barely noticeable if you just don't care about it. It really doesn't break a leg if you ignore some begger or tell them you have full assist 1-2 times a day, and if you can't put up with some social activities, this game likely just isn't for you.
