I was in Barrows Tunnels. I looked at my Strength XP, they rollbacked some of the time (Perhaps 5 minutes? :D) because my XP was almost exactly like it had been 5 minutes prior to the server going offline. Atleast I didn't die, even though I wasn't really fighting much of anything in tunnels, just some skeletons. whew.

Jagex is ruining the game for higher level players.
WolfhunterXZ replied to thegarrett73's topic in Rants
I believe you may be one of those children. I saw quite a few typos. Please buy Hooked On Phonics or something. :P And so what? I don't care for merchants. I think they ruin the game, you should actually play the game to make money, not stand around manipulating prices all day. Try some training and doing actual stuff for a change. -
Yes, and it would suck a lot if the hard drive was dying already, I just bought it a few months ago. But it seems to be perfectly fine now, it's not doing the sounds nor the errors anymore, and I left it alone for a couple hours. Thanks for the tips. And I know hitting it doesn't help, I wasn't smacking it really hard though, more like tapping it on the side slightly, not too hard.

So I wake up the other morning, my hard drive sounds like it's trying to load something but it keeps clicking and trying again. Eventually the lovely blue screen with white text resembling DOS comes up talking about some weird stuff I don't understand. One line said: "Preparing to dump system memory" and before that was something about Memory Failure or something, don't remember. But all I did was turn off my computer. Later on, thinking that this may be a virus or some kind of spyware causing it, I ran thorough scans with AVG and Ad-Aware. Nothing was found. And it continued to do it. Just now, I turned off my computer, unplugged the power cable, opened her up, and unplugged my hard drives (I have two, one is storage and back up and whatnot, it was the main hard drive giving me issues), and then waited a moment and replugged them back in. I boot up my computer and haha! It's not doing it anymore. I'm going to wait for an hour or so, because it would do that within that sort of time period. But I think I fixed the issue. Any ideas on why this would be happening? The hard drive is making sounds like it's trying to load but not being able to (Actually, hitting the side of my computer was working some of the time to make it work), or what exactly caused this issue, because now it's fine it seems? The question is for any help anyone can provide if this continues even after I believe I've fixed this issue.

"We will giving small hints so you can guess the BIG update"
WolfhunterXZ replied to Suiku's topic in General Discussion
In a way it's still a vague hint. You know what it is. But you do not know how it will work, nor what you can do with it exactly. But yes, you're making this oh so funny. For all you know, their version of Summoning is different than you want it to be. Yep. -

Will there be any impact of duel arena update on rares?
WolfhunterXZ replied to Freesia's topic in General Discussion
Who knows. If the price does go down, I don't care either way, I'm not interested in rares, except for a Santa Hat, because when I was first starting Runescape, I had gotten one for the holiday drop, but sold it a few months later for 100k (That was a lot of money back on F2P RSC, trust me.) so I could afford to buy full rune (Also expensive back then, well, let's not get into inflation, etc.). So yeah, as long as this doesn't turn into a "If Rare prices drop, than the economy will crash pmg!!!111" I'm good. -
Hmm, that's a hard one. It depends, considering they didn't do a guaranteed content poll on Christmas, it should be good. Maybe a snowman suit! :D I hope they do another Members only item as well, no offense to F2P. I'd be so happy if they did Christmas lights for POH's. But for the item, maybe candy canes, or a large candy cane you can wield (Like Rubber Chicken), and when you hit someone snow falls on them or something, or they get buried in normal sized candy canes! (The whole "whack" option) No one will know until they release it. I like a surprise really.

Somebody call the Wahmbulance! Oh no!!! Staking is destroyed oh no oh no! Guess I need to actually have fun with the game by questing, skilling, and training!!! Oh dear Saradomin what to do?! You know, the other way you can make money is by doing a tournament with a few stakers, that works too you know? Or you can use rares (Not sure if that works because of market value and if Jagex implemented something for that). You know, you could also make lots of money using skills, and not just attacking people in the duel arena. I've rarely gone to the Duel Arena. If I do, it's for fun, or low stakes anyway. Your rant fails. No major description of why, and fix your spelling and grammar, so then my brain doesn't die because of your horrid English. Oh, and would you like some more cheese with your whine? -Wolfy Edit: Okay, I have to agree with 3k being a bit TOO LITTLE. It should atleast be a max of 100-500k.

Actually, you can report it as language. I was reported for doing that similar with a friend. Some person reported me and I got a black mark for it. So you can report it. :?
-
If you lose money buying the logs, cut your own, mine your own essence and then runecraft your own nature runes and stop whining. Or you can have me or others start explaining about supply and demand? I don't think you want that so I won't even start it.
-
No, the only logical outcome is that the prices go to what the balance of supply and demand dictates. For something like yew logs, the market is already working fairly fluidly, it's already easy to find buyers and sellers for yews. For something like TT items, it can take a long time to find a buyer, which is why you hear a lot of ppl say they're going to put theirTT items up when the Grand Exchange hits. Lowering the transactional cost will have an effect on items that had a relatively high transactional cost before, but your analysis treats the issue like the marketplace for all categories of items was basically nonfunctional, which is pretty naive. How is the rare market the backbone of the economy? If every discontinued item were made nontradeable tomorrow, it would have zero effect on how I play the game. Of course the forums would be filled with people saying that the RS economy was dead, but that happens with every other update already. Jagex leaves rares in the game because some people enjoy trading them or having them as a goal, and they don't want to anger subscribers if it's not necessary. That doesn't make rares the backbone of anything, or important. (don't even go to the rares prevent inflation argument, a 2nd grader can see that's absurd) I'll provide an analogy. Rares are collectible, in limited supply, and valuable. Kinda like... 1987 Fleer edition baseball cards are in the real world. Does that make baseball cards the backbone of the economy? Backbone implies structural function, do you know what part of the body is collectible, limited supply, and valuable? It's not the backbone, it's artificially overpriced diamond earrings. Not a perfect analogy though, diamonds have practical uses and are much prettier than RS rares. I'm not trying to flame you, I think merchanting is the most interesting (theoretically speaking) part of RS, although I don't do it very much in practice, and I respect your merchanting ability. But why claim rares are the backbone of the economy, without even offering a reason? Your point about monopolies using the Grand Exchange is true, but it was already possible and there are drawbacks to the GE for monopolists also. Transactional cost being lower means it's easier for the monopolists to do more trades and impact the market more, but the GE will likely have many more participants than the RSOF which means it won't save the monopolists any more time and could dilute their impact. +1 Except everything about the monopolies is incorrect, especially about the rares. Why? Because 1) There is always going to be other players with the rares. And 2) These rares all have substitutes. The only way that those players could become a monopolistic rare selling 'company' is if they bought every single rare, of every single type. And they were the only players who had rares, then they hold the entire rare market, making them all a monopoly, because there are no more substitute type of items (The other kinds of rares), nor is there anyone else in the whole game who has a rares. That's the only way they could truly be a monopoly. As for everything else, I agree with you Flammacor. As for other people saying that the rares ARE the backbone of the society, you are incorrect in your notion. The Economy would not collapse if rares were punted out of the game. Why? Because an economy cannoy be supported by simply one type of buyers and sellers. If they left, then the economy would still run, there's other important markets to sell to. So stop saying Rares are the backbone of the Runescape economy, because it's not true in the slightest. (Well, it would piss people off a great deal, but the economy wouldn't crash!) So until you take some kind of College Intro to Economics, shut up about the rares being the backbone of the rs economy, it's annoying me.

Do we need a new membership option? Hourly ...
WolfhunterXZ replied to truffoo's topic in General Discussion
This is actually a fairly decent idea. Because I've stopped playing Runescape to the point pay by the hour would be a viable option to use. I'm even thinking of cancelling my Membership for now, because I don't play very often. When I play, I'm on for maybe an hour or two just talking with friends and whatnot, nothing else. It's a waste of $5 for me nowadays. And pay by the hour would get some F2P people to come and check out Members for a short period without having to pay the full cost. Jagex would still have to offer the pay by month as well. And they definitely could program this into the website and game itself (To tell you how much time you've spent, etc.) Good idea :) -
If you can't see the upper picture, just right click and "View Image" it'll work. As for that area, that's the Members part of the Wilderness, look closely, you'll notice that the large lava area is the Wilderness Maze, and the other part is the Volcano area, along with the spot for the Hill Giants + Hunting Grounds. The round circle of lava is the Mage Arena. The rest is the other lava formations and whatnot.

The Hidden Cost Of Production in RS & The Grand Exchange
WolfhunterXZ replied to teatonev's topic in General Discussion
In other words you're talking about Opportunity Costs within the current prices of items. Opportunity Cost is the cost of doing something at the price of not doing something else. In other words, you decided to go college during the day, the opportunity cost is the amount of money you could have made by getting a job, because most likely the amount of money you would have made would have been more than what you spent on to go to college, if you had decided to work instead. So that's what I'm getting the implication of you mentioning in this topic is Opportunity Cost. -
RS official forums finally EXPLODED!!!
WolfhunterXZ replied to ikraz66's topic in General Discussion
As I've said before: "Most of the Community now are nothing but spoiled little brats who whine when they get something they don't understand or "didn't want", they need to grow up, or just leave." The assist system has nothing really wrong with it, it just makes people not get scammed out of gems and whatnot. Lot's of people complained about people stealing their gems when they were offering "Free Gem Cutting" Now they can do it safely without the chance of being scammed. How is that bad? It isn't. They're just whining because the same idiots whine about every update, they need to leave, they don't help anything. And then they persuade Jagex to reverse things or change things that make the people who had no issue with it angry because they changed it. Oh well, hope Jagex doesn't remove the system or change it horribly because of these fools. -
I could care less about rares. And I could definetely care less about people who constantly write threads about rares. Sorry, no offense. Rare prices go up and down dependent on Supply and Demand, oh no, not the Supply and Demand talk! Well, sorry, it's true. I'll spare everyone the horror of explaining it all though, so don't worry about it. But that is what effects the prices the most, as well as merchants, and other various things like inflation and whatnot. But if you really are wanting to make money from the rare you have, keep it and keep it for awhile, not just a few days, or a month. I'm talking 1+ years. mmk?

When I'm selling for MONEY, don't give me more ITEMS.
WolfhunterXZ replied to Aisona's topic in Rants
+1 I agree. It also makes me a bit PO'd when I'm selling something worth 1m+ and then I get a bunch of items on the trade screen. I then have to say "Sorry, cash only" I don't want to spend the time to sell all those items again, it takes too long (But then again, the Grand Exchange will fix that, I can go do whatever instead of taking forever to have to sell all of that stuff.) to sell. And then after they do that and I decline, I say: "Sorry, cash only" then they whine about it and I tell them to: "Go sell those items and come back with cash and I'll sell it to you." Then they just leave. Finally, after all of that with one person, another person does the same thing! Argh! Anyhow, I then start typing my selling statements on the screen with "selling blah blah blah 2m. Cash Only!" -
And who said that you won't be able to merchent via the Grand Exchange? You can still manipulate prices, there will always be someone who will sell for less, and someone who will buy for more, depends on how desperate and how much of that item is being sold by people on this new concept for Runescape (Not new in other MMO's). Even if it gets rid of Merchenting, sorry, I don't mind much, because technically speaking, selling for more and buying for less is price manipulation, which last time I checked isn't a good thing to have in an economy. It means the players selling set the prices, which is incorrect in an economy, the buyers effect the prices of an object. More people demand something, where there's a limited supply, the price goes up, or people go for substitutes of that item. But in Runescape, it's been the sellers and merchanters setting prices (The sellers) and not the buyers, they just go with the prices, in other words, our market is backwards in it's means. This may fix is, and by which case, I'm happy, it should actually stabilize the economy by most means. And by the way, why are people whining and ranting about this update which isn't even out yet? Get a life if you're going to -cabbage- about it already. It looks like a great idea from my stand point. I've always wanted something where I can sell my stuff without standing for an hour in World 2 (that's without the 30 minute wait to get into it) and in the end not even find anyone to buy what I'm selling. So what if merchanting dies, it was actually hurting the economy in the knowledgeable aspects of it all.

Mmmmm You forgot to share :anxious: +1! Where's mine? Do I have to go make my own? Aww :(

MechScape: The reason for the decline of RS?
WolfhunterXZ replied to Dragonlordjl's topic in General Discussion
I highly doubt that's the reason it's declining. In fact, it's been up and down all the time since RS2's release. It was good, got bad, then it's gotten better, and up and down. I've noticed it now as I've gotten back on more often, it's rising up slightly now, but people don't notice it because they're on RS everyday, take a break, come back, then see how bad it is in other words. As for your idea that they're letting RS decline, I don't think so. Jagex wouldn't spend money and time to keep updating RS if they didn't want to keep it up and running. Yes, maybe they'll release this other game, but it's not going to replace RS. Jagex has spent and still spends a good amount of money on RS every year/month/day/etc. So why would they purposely let it die? I mean they update graphics and add content, there's still a lot of RS to create, we only have like half the world, and who knows how much history to learn. But sorry to say this, I don't think they're letting it die on purpose. And go ahead, leave members if you feel that need to, even if you've been paying since RSC. It's only $5 less, and considering they get new members daily, you're effect of leaving is probably like a 0.00000001 decrease in any profit or income to the company. Not to be rude, but it's true. -
DIE! I like the hood, it looks good. So what if it's not black? It looks good with a bunch of other stuff too! I mean seriously, what good would it be if it was the black like the Priest Robes/Shade Robes? You'd be completely black, in fact I think it'd look funny. I like the hood, I'm a member too, and considering you used a horrid word to describe something, you should shoo. And as other people said, I'd expect more for someone with the amount of posts you have. Sorry for flaming, but this is a weak rant, not many people appreciate rants about holiday items (Unless a vast majority agrees) but it seems people like this item. Myself included.
-
That's actually incorrect, Well, it may be partially incorrect, but it could also be a reference to The Beatle's Song: "I Am the Walrus" where they sing that. "I am the eggman (wooh), they are the eggmen (wooh), I am the walrus, coo coo ca choo." But it may also be from Sonic, but I think The Beatles came first, which means that Sonic was basing it from the song?
-
Indeed. It makes me mad, because then it makes Members like myself look bad. I love the hood, so what if we already have hoods? This one is different and looks spiffy. And awesome, F2P got a hood too, when I was F2P back in the day I always wanted a hood, even when P2P didn't have them for the most part.

It is my view that most updates are great! maybe not to my tastes but great for a large amount of people, they cannot take ideas off fan site forum due to legal reasons like copyright. Wont even tell you how wrong you are there..... It's business, Miniclip has a huge player base and they believed that the extra playerd they could gain would greatly improve the game. Also with more players there is a much larger chance of the company surviving as they are less prone to damage through small changes. +(Very large number here) I agree here, Bobbington here beat me to what I was going to write (well, not all of what I was going to say, but that + more.)
