March 29, 200719 yr Hi, I was wondering is it possible to become a good character in runescape whilst still getting great grades, having a social life and/or girlfriend etc? I know this may sound wierd, but it can make for a very interesting and deep topic into this subject. Girls aren't to impressed (to say the least) when they ask what do you spend your spare time doing and you reply runescape. Thanks for any input into this topic :) Stu.
March 29, 200719 yr Ofcourse, you don't have to no-life. It just takes longer ;) I have a gf, good grades, and I pretty much have a normal life, and I still am one of the better players (Well... I'm around place 13000 allround ranked, that can be counted as "one of the better players" right?) Twitter ||| Google+ ||| Facebook ||| LinkedIn ||| My very interesting weblog about science
March 29, 200719 yr If you play when you have free time (after you finished your studies, hanging out with friends,...) and you don't mindbeing 'slower' then people that spent more time on it, then yes, you can become a good char and still have a social life. Depending on how much you go out/study/... you'll get it faster or slower. Buying members helps getting good, seeing as it gives faster ways of training. But in the end it doesnt matter if you are good or not, it's all about fun :P
March 29, 200719 yr Of course its possible, you just have to sensible... Chevroi - Formerly Japlin69My Old Blog
March 29, 200719 yr Just play in your spare time, but not al of it. Its what I do. GF TIF. 9 November 2006 - 22 January 2008, when I could no longer stand the painted turd that is the Tip.It community. Only posting in rants.
March 29, 200719 yr Basically if you play instead of watching tv on your free time, you are perfectly fine. Plus, you won't be a couch potato then. :P Just play instead of watching tv, and you will have loads of time to play. I still have a huge social life and good grades. Although I am not one of the better player just yet, I can still balance everything. Plus, I play a sport year long, which is very hard to get time to play. It's just something you have fun doing when you can.
March 29, 200719 yr Yes it is possible, but its very easy to become too obbsessed with the game. About a year ago i played way to much and it was consuming every spare hour. i made the decision to quit my job and start uni. Now i think i've found the perfect balance.. i have a fantastic gf, go out 2-3 nights a week and still find some spare time to play some rs. oh yeah, uni work gets done too :P
March 29, 200719 yr Life is too good to spend it all on Runescape. There's soo many things out there more fun than Rs. To be honest, time is the key. We all know those Runescape freaks who become lvl 126, and have 1800+ total in only a year. Well me, I'm lvl 106, I have 1715 total, and I have been playing 5 years. It took a whole 5 years, but my character is decent now. \ 2480+ total

March 29, 200719 yr Ofcourse it can. However, if you want to be a highlevel pretty fast without spending to much of your time. This does mean though, that you'll need to use your time on RS a bit wise, so don't stand for hours upon end in a bank chatting with your friend, but get training a skill. But if you enjoy chatting in a bank more, I HIGHLY recommand doing that. Having fun>a good character. Retired.

I was joking by the way. :XD: To refrain my posts from becoming spam, I feel my input is necessary. I think the most important thing about playing RuneScape is time management. If you have a piece of homework, do it BEFORE you log on. Saying 'one more barrows trip' only leads to trouble. :) Real life > Pixels.

Girls aren't to impressed (to say the least) when they ask what do you spend your spare time doing and you reply runescape. Thanks for any input into this topic :) Stu. You make it seem good grades are hard to accomplish, which it isn't really that hard. The only reason people get bad grades is because they're lazy. And in this case, they're lazy to do work (homework, study for a test, etc) so they'll rather play (RuneScape). So if you can be non-lazy you could easily play RuneScape and get good grades. So comes the ever funny social life topic...Well, why do you care if someone else has a social life or not? You should be worring about your own life instead of the guy in the Library playing RuneScape. If he's having fun then let him do it. It's his life, not yours. Your girlfriend example is purely amazing. IF girls are going to dislike you automaticly (SP?) because you play a simple computer game a bit every day, then do you honestly think she's worth it? A true girlfriend would love* you, and I highly doubt will dump you because you play a bit of RuneScape (Unless of course, if you would rather play RuneScape instead of meeting with her, because thats not love). *Love as in the real deep feeling of love not some sexy body, teenage hormones love "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."
March 29, 200719 yr Of course its possible to do all that Its a matter of priorities. I have good grades, I have an active social life, I manage to date people and almost have a boyfriend. Its just a case of keeping it all in check. My main priority is always my studies, get my essays, revision and portfolio work done with time to spare Then comes work, as in not being late etc as i must earn money Then comes spending time with the person I'm with, if they exist at the time. Then comes spending time with friends Then comes doing my hobbies like graphic design or writing Then comes the things I do for fun to fill time like rs and forums. And I still am a pretty 'leet' player if stats, wealth or fansite based 'fame' is anything to go by. March 29, 200719 yr No gf at the moment, but I make straight A's and spend a lot of time with my irl friends. My character isn't great, but I'm pleased with him. \ Quit RS, combat 104, total 1651
March 29, 200719 yr Well, you went wrong when you told a girl that you play RS in you're spare time. If that's the only thing you do then you might want to overlook how you spend time. I'll say I am sucessful in having a "decent" charector while maintaing the other aspects of my life. It's all in time management. Play Runescape to relax afterschool, then do homework later, and play some if you have time. You have to manage you're time percisly or else you could run into trouble. The girlfriend thing is the same reason. Since I'm not addicted (I classify addiction, as having a nonstop, no control over wanting to play runescape) it's easy for me to say "Yepp, i'll put runescape away and go see the girlfriend". Maybe I'm romantic and that's a part of it, or maybe I'm just dedicated to my relationship. I usaully devote weekends to spending time with her, and the weekdays with things I want to. It's a nice trade off. Most problems that kids have is that they don't know how to manage their time. They get too involved in what their doing and before you know their times slips right by them. You have to know how to say "Yes, I'm going to stop and go do [insert activity here]". You can't get so absorbed into runescape that you can't pry yourself away from it. I've been playing for 6 years now and maybe I've outgrown the addiction, learned how to control it, or never had one. I'll say I know this works because I have a healthy social life, healthy lifestyle (Pursue in sports), a stable relationship with a girl (been dating for 2 years now), and maintain an all Honors course load (B average. A+ Classwork, essays, projects ect. But I've never beleived in studying so I tend to not do so well on tests). ^^ClicK^^"I backed my car into a cop car the other dayWell he just drove off sometimes life's ok...Alright already we'll all float onAlright don't worry we'll all float on" - Isaac BrockDays Hunting:4 - Kingly Imps Caught:2Money Earned: 4.5-5m

March 29, 200719 yr well i'm level 90, pretty good character, I have a decent social life, aq few girls like me, you know. Yeah its possible, just don't no-life it Doing a little bit of everything
March 29, 200719 yr Author I was just wondering about this, because i can only play about 3 hours per day nowadays, so can't really level up that fast, and was wondering whether it would be good to become a good character in runescape, or if i may aswell quit, as i can't play enough to get good. Most high level players in the Blog section i see them burnign 11k willows a day and crazy things like that (that's playign around 11 hours a day!) I won't be able to play that much ever! I'm confused lol! Whether i'd be able to get good grades, gett good at rs and keep a decent social life with gf. Thanks for any help, also the stuff so far has been top notch, keep it coming. :D
March 29, 200719 yr racism runs in my school so i dont got many friends to play with or hang out. runescape actually saved me from being one of them.
March 29, 200719 yr Of course it is. Playing 3 hours a day is plenty of time to make a good character. Just don't get too carried away with Runescape. ^Sir Jem 05-The Bunny Drinking Blog?^ Click it!
March 29, 200719 yr Runescape can be a TON of fun BUT ALWAYS do other stuff first have a book read it have school work DO IT.I am basically retired from runescape now but when i do play its more fun than when i was there for even 3 hours every day. In all honesty getting a part time job would be a better use of your time but Make Sure to have fun will you still have the time. There will come a day when you must give up runescape or cut way back but either way keep it healthy and HAVE FUN but please do so responsibly. .....dont correct my grammar spelling or punctuation....
