Death Pile - what is your first instinct?

I was barrowing today on my third run. While searching for the treasure room, all of a sudden I see rune platebody lying on the floor next to the door. I start clickin like a mad man cause I didnt see the owner die. Rune Plate body, legs; Mystic hat, boots and gloves; Full Black dhide set, Dragon Mace, Glory, Ring of wealth (proves it was a noob) and 58 Addy arrows.

So after I click thru all that gear, I see shark but it fades away. My discussion is this?

Should I have right clicked to see if anything obvious for the taking is available first?

Does the pile get sorted in any kind of order (high to low value)?

Was sorry I didn't see the owner. Might have been good opportunity to make a new friend. Didnt get jack when I searched the chest but 200k worth of goodies is nice reward. But I sure hate merchanting.

Well if it's my death pile, I look for the most important things first.

1) I said "my death pile"

2) You used the wrong there. The appropriate one would be "they're", meaning they are. they are untradable.

edit: you have been back sassed.

I usually right click, select the best item. Many times, that method has helped me get the better item out of a deathpile while all the others pick up the junk that is first in the pile.

Ya if im the one that died and i know that ill be barely able to make it back in time then ya ill make sure to get only the best items

however ive never really had to worry about grabbing a deathpile (at least one with decent loot in it) so i usually just randomly click

I probally would look the pile over first if i was pking....like alll the pkers screenies look like of a kill

CLICK - 770th to 99 SLAYER 2/4/08 - 204th to 99 Summoning 7/1/08 CLICK

Not sure but a guy died at the ankous yesterday (i have nothing to do with it! honest! seriously, i really did not give him a shark that he ran back in with and died......) but back to topic, the stuff wasn't re-arranged in terms of value as the dragon dagger was half way to the bottom below a few drops from the ankous. Also, in terms of clicking, i usually click rapidly until i get over myself and then i look for valuable items i.e: a nice shiny phat hidden under a bronze plate.

If I saw the persons username, I would probably return the pile to them. I was heavily influenced by my first trip to the abyss as a new member: I had my full rune, glory, addy boots , D long and stuff with me. I didn't realize the abyss skulled you and drained your prayer, so I died and lost everything. Then, a guy pmed me and said "Dude, I got your stuff. Meet me at edgeville." From then, if a guy pms me saying the stuff was his, or I catch his username, I give it back. However, if none of those things happens...

I click the pile like a crazy person!

I don't really remember getting too many death piles except from when I pk'ed occasionally, but I think what I did was left click immediately so I would get there first and get a random item, and the split second after I left clicked I would right click to selectively pick.

Unless you know the person, I would keep the stuff.

Also, death piles are random except for the top item...the top item is always the item worth the most.

Right-click to look for cheap items (to the game) that are actually valuable (to players), and if not, then grab the loot and run.

However, if I see the person die, I'll return most of the stuff (if I don't know them, if I do, I return all), but I usually take a small token of thanks from the pile...:-w

I tend to randomly click, when I try to "sift" the pile someone else usually gets all the goodies by the time I find them.

If it's only me near the pile, then I'll sift through it, but people usually always die near me when there's a group around
