Fun - An alien word to us now?

Featured Replies

Remember back to your first days of playing, when you spend hours just exploring things, doing quests and mining tin with your new iron pick. When we first started out this game was actually fun, but have we lost sight of the fun we originally had playing?

Everywhere I look I see people getting 99 in a skill they despise just because they want a cape, or people spending countless hours playing a day even though they are growing sick of the game.

We need to realise that above all else, this is a game, and the purpose of it's creation was for people to have fun and enjoy their free time playing. So take a step back and look at your RuneScape playing, and decide for yourself if you're having fun. If you seriously aren't, you shouldn't be playing, take a break, or maybe stop wearing yourself down with the thought of GP. skills and items. Instead you should concentrate on friends, fun, and relaxation.

Yea, I just felt like getting that off my chest because some people seem to be taking this GAME as if it's their LIFE, which are two completely opposite things.

I agree, if it isn't fun then don't do it! That is the reason I'm always juggling up my short term goals; I don't wanna be stuck doing something boring for a month.

Well, thank god that there are quests. For me, quests are the spirit of the game. I wish they had quests for lvl's 99 also.

Yeah, i have no idea why people train skills they hate, if i dont feel like fishing i won't do it! Having said that i do think training a skill for a short period of time if you dont like it so you can unlock something good is ok. I certainly wouldn't try to get a level that doesn't have a massive benefit just for a cape.

I'd be like, 2000 total if I had forgotten about fun lol.

I only do what I feel like doing :)

\' Oh yeah !-

I couldn't agree more. We need to focus more on fun and less on levels!

Every game you play, it was always funner at the begining because everything is new and unknown. Now that you know everything, it's not the same fun in exploration it was when you first started playing. It is still fun, but not as much fun as when you first started.

When I was Runecrafting a week or so ago, it got boring...so what did I do? Stop runecrafting and did something fun, like Barrows. Now I'm training Slayer and Barrowing due to the fact that it is fun. If you're not having fun, then I suggest you stop wasting your time and do something else to pass the time.

I realy like slayer, and i think its fun, the reason i set a longterm goal to 99 attack is because i can train it with the skill I like...(slayer)

But sometimes i dont feel like skilling, and I go do another skill.

I totaly agree some people dont think about fun, but only about levels and riches, well all i can say is: Play the game how you wanna play the game.

I enjoy raising my skills :|.

Even if it's different kind of fun, i still enjoy it.

a word heard more than fun in runescape is work.but theyre are obvious reasons for that.

Yeah, I know. The game isn't fun anymore. The best you can do is juggle between skills and hope for the best.

yea, i only do what I want to do, like moling. Its fun, even though a lot of times the seeds I get are nothing but cabbage..no, really, just cabbage seeds. Its fun, and thats what I do. Fun.

I never understood why merchants dedicate their entire RS time to buying and selling.

Their character probably leaves the bank once or twice a month, and that's due to clicking outside by accident.

They're obsessed with getting rich, just for the sake of having a lot of gp in their bank.

WHY MERCHANT IF YOU AREN'T GOING TO ENJOY THE MONEY?!

That way it's just like work, very boring and a complete waste of time.

I can honestly say that I've never enjoyed playing RS more than when I was first starting out.

I was care-free and my only intent was having a good time.

Pretty much what Dragon said.

Thread terminated.

I guess that means I'm the thread Terminator?

If it isn't fun anymore, why do you keep playing :|.

I still find RuneScape fun and it passes time, but I don't think we play RuneScape how it was intended to be played.

We play RuneScape in attempts to pass others, to show off, hell, when I was first playing I actually played it how it should be, thought about how it was based in medieval times, got into the "mood" and "setting" of RuneScape, but now all that is lost, everything we do we do in masses, repetitively, but all in all I still find it fun.

Thats why I'd quit

Anyways, you can't have fun now, with all those autoers, beggars, macros, scammers, liars, lurers, and bad people.RS was a game, now it's a place where you think you're having fun, but you aren't.

OMG! I'm doing exactly the same!

Fun = Ice bursting in cw with 5 friends and getting called a noob as you kill 10 kids at a time  <3:

Come to #tip-it on Swift IRC, if you're cool

I prefer to do the more fun things, i.e. mini games, kbd slaying with friends, and other things I enjoy. I really only skill when I need it to do something fun, i.e. fishing for kbd and barrows. I rarely train skills like agility or mining anymore, as the repetition drives me crazy.

If you're F2P "fun" barely happens since you've seen everything before. :wall:

j0xPu5R.png

i like killing lesser demons and harpie bugs, so i kill those. but i agree totally otherwise.

karlpetter.gif

Odd that this would come up. I recently tried going for a very thieving level.. very high.. anyway I quit it because when I was playing it felt more like work, and if you play to work what's the point?
