August 28 2007 - God Wars Dungeon

During the great god wars, many smaller battles were fought between the followers of different deities. Sometimes these battles were fought for strategic advantage, many for items of power and others due to age-old enmities. One battle was fought over the possession of an extremely powerful weapon: the godsword.

History has it that the aviantese were protectors of the godsword and, when attacked by followers of Zamorak, several other gods came to their aid; fighting to stop the sword falling into the hands of the one they call the Usurper. The followers of Armadyl, Bandos and Saradomin struggled against an army of Zamorakians and, during this battle, the sword became shattered. Both sides cast powerful spells, attempting to destroy their enemies and freeze them into solid statues of ice. Now, after aeons have passed, the path is clear to explore these caves, but beware: the denizens of the caves are thawing out!

Any adventurer brave, strong or foolish enough can explore the caves, finding rich rewards for their efforts. Aside from the godsword - a two-handed weapon that allows you to change the hilt once it has been reforged, using a variety of special attacks - there is a new set of melee armour, a level 70 Ranged and a combination battlestaff for mages. It is also rumoured that one of the new Slayer creatures in the dungeon may be in possession of a pair of dragon boots!

The dungeon complex itself covers four mapsquares and contains a new race, four boss-monsters, new Slayer creatures and a host of old enemies for you to fight. Keep in mind that these creatures hark back to a different, harsher time when only the fittest survived. Expect, then, to find that your adversaries are slightly more powerful than their modern-day counterparts!

75 Attack + 0 + 132 + 80 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 132 + 8

Seems pretty good

Where is the entrance?

godwarslocationqf1.jpg

The way in.

Also from the KB

Note that this is a particularly cold region in RuneScape, where the chill saps your strength and numbs your mind. The longer you stay in the temple grounds, the lower all of your statistics will fall. The cold effect is not present in the God Wars Dungeon itself.

So a (super) restore potion would be advised.

Why do I have the feeling that it'll take about a week for someone to have done everything there is to do here?

Goals to get my skills back up to a barely respectable level on the high scores:

Currently going for Bone to Peaches spell. It's amazing how boring doing the same repetitive task is! Stupid MTA

K'ril Tsutsaroth

If you were in any doubt that the God Wars Dungeon was challenge enough for you, look no further than the giant demon, K̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ril Tsutsaroth. Once thought of as nothing more than a myth, this beast of the darkness has destroyed towns and levelled entire cities, leaving nobody alive to confirm his existence. This intense brutality and strength has ensured his position as one of Zamorak's most feared tools of destruction. His powerful melee attacks will crush all but the strongest of warriors.

650? Huh?

It looks like a holy and unholy symbol are definitely needed when challenging this... Then you gotta hope you get some bits of the other guys armour before challenging them.

This was in smithing - extra features, it's not linked to anywhere in the KB by the other articles on the dungeon and sword.

The Godsword

The godsword is a weapon of unimaginable power that was shattered during the last great battle of the god wars. If you descend into the eternal warfare of the God Wars Dungeon you may be lucky enough to find some or all of the three shards of that fabled blade.

The three parts of the blade can be smithed together in any order to reforge the weapon that the gods once fought for control over. This requires a Smithing level of 80, and will grant you 100 experience for joining any two pieces together (so completing the godsword will earn you 200 Smithing experience).

Note that this may take you some time, so it's advisable not to click away until you have the completed pieces in your inventory.

The final part of the weapon is the hilt. During the god wars, four hilts were designed for the weapon - one dedicated to each of the major gods: Armadyl, Bandos, Saradomin and Zamorak. These hilts can be attached and removed from the blade freely. The only effect the hilts have is that the special attack changes.

See Melee - Other Items for more details about
