I was thinking about this today. What do you think the name has to do with the game? Please explain you thoughts.

I think rune means runes(magic), and i think of scape as in landscape, so to me it means rune world.

Thats really badly phrased sorry.

Mostly game names involve either the content or style of the game, like Gears of War because the soldiers are called gears, Halo, because of the Halo devices, Warcraft, because war is waged.

Well Runes and Capes Merge it together Runescape

Capes don;t have much to do with the game, though, so that seems slightly pointless...unless you;re joking. Then hahahahaha. Smiley for effect: :XD:

Capes don't have much to do with the game?

All I hear about nowadays is players spending 100+ hours on the game, trying to get some silly little item called a "Skill cape"

Weird.

Clever on Jagex's end, seeing as they named it 'RuneScape' years before they made Skill Capes. Nice job.

I always thought Rune was about the Runite armor/weaponry, and Scape meaning Landscape.

Treasure trail items: 9

Dragon drops: 0

in the origional RS you could only use magic i think...my mate said that.

But soon after melee was introcuced.

wrong

original you culd only use melee

later mage, archer and adventurer classes were added

the trick is to balance all of these methods to get 99 and either play real life or train another skill while farming.

In every other game I've seen, a Rune is a mystical force, usually contained within a rock or a stone, hence we have runes. I've never once seen the ground on RuneScape referred to as "Earth", so I presume the ground in RS is called "Rune". "Scape" simply means an area of space, so presumably, the area the rune covers.

Therefore, we have RuneScape.

I thought rune was something elemental so I thought it was an UBER FANTASTICAL game but turns out it isn't.

And its called Runescape but Rune isn't the best armor..? :?
