I think that when you are editing your "Profile", it gets a little annoying how you have to view one of your posts just to see if you like how your signature is organized. Post your comments.

Yeah, this has been brought up before, though I'm not sure what ever happened with it. I'm all for it though =)

I remember making a topic a while back. I don't why we can't have a preview button next to 'submit'.

 

I wouldn't really want to waste the extra minute or two to see if my sig works when a button could make life a little easier.

Who knows, it doesn't sound that hard to do atall to me. None of the admins may have ever thought about it untill now, and therefore never did it.

 

 

 

SOunds like a sensible idea to me.

I've wondered as well, I would really like to see this added.

Preview button could be a pop-up, in a new window, therefore it's not clogging anything up, and it's easily done, as in signature preview would be in the new window. Maybe even an example post, with your signature in it would be better. :-k

Alright now, I've been viewing the Website Forums, And the Forum Updates and suggestion forums. I wasn't sure how to voice my oppinion on my thread but here goes.

 

 

 

I think that It would be a nice idea. I think all of the nicer updates would probaly be in phpBB3. There have been alot of good suggestions for the forums, but everyones discussing that all of it may be done in phpBB3. So, that's what I'm guessing.

 

 

 

Also, I wouldn't think of it to be in another window. Probaly it could show like a preview of your post saying [EXCAMPLE], or somthing in the category. I'm not very sure about it, but It's a very nice Idea!

i still dont understand why you dont use the sticky in gallery..

 

just use notepad or something, type your signature there, post it into link above, see if it works, then just add it to your signature...

or open up 2 windows, one to your profile, and another to one of your posts. Change your sig, and refresh the other page to view. If you don't like it just fix it.

To avoid the possibility of accidentally posting a thread/reply, you can also pm yourself to do all of this.

There are quite a few workarounds for this particular feature request but that doesn't mean that implementing such a small change would be useless or a waste of time. It simply makes editing one's profile easier - that's all. I do not think it would take much coding (but in the end, what do I know) but I'm for the change if it doesn't add any extra strain to the server.. which I'm fairly certain it doesn't.

 

 

 

Small little features like this are what makes the Tip.it website and forum unique and a fun place to visit. While this change alone won't affect anyone too much, if the Staff continues to implement helpful, handy features on both sites, people will be more enticed to visit this forum more often. Try to look at it from a broader perspective. We know the current solutions - let's see if we can find one that makes a person's browsing experience more fun and less frustrating. For a first time forum-goer, putting in your signature only to see that it is missing a bracket or the image didn't upload properly, can be very frustrating.

Also we don't need this? Why do we need to preview it anyway? People won't think anything of a small mistake.

For a first time forum-goer, putting in your signature only to see that it is missing a bracket or the image didn't upload properly, can be very frustrating.

 

Adding to that thought, you may want to put a little note under the signature form reminding the user to make sure their brackets are correct. Either that or have a link to the BB code guide.

I've always used the preview-post method for viewing my sigs before I put them in, and it takes about the same time, if not less, than what ya'll are suggesting. It's so unbearably easy to do, I can't believe ya'll actually need something as useless as this coded. Yes, I know this is the age of lazyness and Sloth, but for god's sake, it's not that hard, even for this pack.

Or, like I said before, you can press submit, have another page open to one of your posts, press refresh, and see if it works.
