December 6, 200718 yr I'm creating this topic, because I wanted to ask for advice, but while I'm at it, I'll try to make this a nice discussion topic, so that it's more than just my personal question. As you all know Christmas is coming and this is probably a good time to show your RuneScape friends how you care about them by giving them some lovely Christmas presents. Many of you probably did this before and in that case you probably had this big problem: what would be a good thing for a present? Of course cash is not a good gift. You'll give somebody cash, somebody else will give you cash... I don't see much point in that. What are your ideas for good presents for friends in the game? Maybe there is something I haven't thought of. And my question: What's a good idea for a gift for a player who isn't a member anymore (so only F2P items) who already has great stuff like Saradomin armour? I would like to get him a gift that wouldn't cost me more than 500k. Any other pieces of equipment? Or maybe just a pack of items for training skills. Like some runes, arrows, ores... I really don't know what to do.
December 6, 200718 yr I'd say give them a holiday item, but this isn't 2002... I'd say give them something handmade, but they'll probably think it's rubbish... How about something unique, yet at the same time easy on the wallet? Go trail hunting for heraldic shields or trimmed wizards armour or something. :P "300 programmers make their futile but glorious last stand against 1000000 angry players in The battle of Misthalin. They fight for honor, glory and new content sacrificing themselves so that their game may live on. This is Madness! This Is JAGEEEX!"
December 6, 200718 yr give them something like a pair of zam robes and a fez, which will represent santa. :P
December 6, 200718 yr Find something they like. A good thing I see done a lot is friends combining money to get a huge item. For example, for Oreo's birthday last year Shey gathered money from Oreo's friends to buy him a Dragon Chain, something we all knew he had wanted for a long time. Just be creative, and your friends will be thankful that you tried. I shall take my flock underneath my own wing, and kick them right the [bleep] out of the tree. If they were meant to fly, they won't break their necks on the concrete. So, what is 1.111... equal to?10/9. Please don't continue.
December 6, 200718 yr give them something like a pair of zam robes and a fez, which will represent santa. :P She said f2p *cough* Three months banishment to 9gag is something i would never wish upon anybody, not even my worst enemy.
December 6, 200718 yr Find something they will like, and or use. E.g. I gave a pking mate of mine 10 rune scims and a cake on his birthday. We both had a bite of the cake, and he put the last 1/3 in his bank for keepsake. He used all the scims pkin, but 1 year later still has the 1/3 cake and we have a giggle about it often.
December 6, 200718 yr give them something like a pair of zam robes and a fez, which will represent santa. :P She said f2p *cough* ok mr post count hugger, wheres your suggestion?

You didnt even read the topic then posted and your calling him a post count hugger? :? I would go with some raw materials like ores to work on smithing or give them a nice amount of arrows. Quit. PM me if you play The Conduit to exchange friend codes.

December 6, 200718 yr Its strange that you can only show your affection for friends by material means.

December 6, 200718 yr Its strange that you can only show your affection for friends by material means. What would you do? A RS jig?! Its just a nice gesture to give something to someone  Seriously though, give em some rune ores :) pretty cool item ;P
December 6, 200718 yr zomg Real World Trading You should know that Jagex would never allow this on a big scale  OT: Pots, pots, and more pots. I like my pots. And sharks. And I always hate buying pots because I feel like I'm wasting money. So someone else, buy me my pot! Ever wanted to find street prices of RS items? December 6, 200718 yr Ok, this is a discussion about what would be a good gift for christmas, not a flame war. I am buying some (g) wizard robes for someone who really wanted them. They are also cutting enough willow logs to buy a wizard (G) hat, so, I am giving them the rest of the set as a gift.
December 6, 200718 yr Give them your respect. Ok seriously, I would really like to give a certain someone full sara. 00:00:0500:00:0400:00:0300:00:0200:00:0100:00:00 Break the Walls down!
December 6, 200718 yr Give em something you know they'll use, not just something that's flashy. Same goes for real life.
December 6, 200718 yr give them a smile or a sense of how much they mean to you as a friend in the game but seriously... strength potions are cheap and useful in f2p, you could get a lot for 500k or some regular rune essence, same thing and a strength amulet (t) or mage amulet (t) is pretty good item for f2p and not sure on price but less than 500k as far as i know. if you're thinking runes; i'd say laws or nature would be good choices. December 6, 200718 yr Just as in real life, how much thought you put into the gift is just as important (if not more than) than how much it costs. A friend of mine gifted me a dragon boot during the weekend, not because it's rather expensive, but because he noticed I am still wearing the simple climbing boots. What kind of player is your friend? If he's a pker, he'll probably need a spare set of armour, or foods and str pots. If he's a skiller, gift him a supply of whatever he's skilling on. If he haven't finish some quests, guide him through whichever quest he haven't finished yet. Take your time on the gift, I am sure your friend appreciate thought you put into it! All I learned in life, I learned on Tip.it
December 6, 200718 yr Author Thanks for all replies. I need to reply to a couple of things though. First of all, just to let you know, I'm male. ;) mrpez, I know a bunch of ways to show affection, but Christmas is usually a time when giving presents is quite common and I also enjoy doing it. sseli, I'm not sure where you see real world trading here, I'm only talking about giving RuneScape items. And just to make things clear: if you have ideas for nice presents for P2P, share them too. I will also have to get some things for some P2P friends. I just asked for F2P there, because it seems harder to get something for F2P with so little choice they have. Eh, if only Jagex made it possible to donate membership for other player, I'd give him that.
December 6, 200718 yr Myself I don't give gifts out anymore cos my 'so-called' friends treat me like an idiot. I gave out over 3mils worth of stuff both useful and useless. I'd say if your friend likes mage get loads of nats and laws :P I know I'd love it (dunno bout anyone else though : ) but then again friendship is better then anything :
December 6, 200718 yr Most often I give away something which my friend needs for the skill that he or she is currently training. My friends often gets very happy, and it's much more fun that just giving away cash. I know that there are funnier stuff to give to your friends in christmas present, but I find it to hard to find out what everybody wants. And they do get happy for skilling equipment :) Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak
December 6, 200718 yr I have never really been one to exchange gifts, only once have I done so and that was between a friend I knew from my school. I might hand out a couple of presents this year to someof my closest friends, but I am saving for some expensive things so I can't bust out the bank. I'd probably go for useful items or something meaningful.
December 6, 200718 yr A good one would be no gift at all. You'll probably just wind up getting banned for RWT. >.< [English translation needed]
