"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice

If her parents are nice and courteous, there is no reason why he shouldn't at least TALK to them. If he wanted to tell what was going on, that is his choice. And I think parents should have SOME business in their child's relationship with someone.

Parents want to know what their children are up to, and know that they are in safe hands. If anything, Sam has helped that situation by telling them exactly what is going on.

She might be annoyed at Sam, but it's her fault, so she should be shouting at herself. You don't have to tell people anything, but if you think they have a right to know, then you may as well tell them.

Also, don't reply to the text.

I strongly disagree with that. Relationships are an adult thing, where details should be left to the people involved. I don't see how staying involved can possibly be helpful given how easily he's been persuaded to take her back time and time again.

Yeah, her parents have no right to meddle, granted. But then that also works two ways. If Sam's talking to her parents then frankly it's none of her business either.

I don't know... whatever. I think the point is, when you talk to them you're essentially communicating with her by extension, so... don't, even if the reasons are benign.

Well, (unless I am mistaken) it isn't like he is talking with them a whole bunch. Just the one time isn't that big of a deal. And I believe Hobgoblin is right, parents just want to make sure their kids are safe.

Today proved how easy it is to get girls. I apologise to anybody who I argued against regarding that.

I also apologise further to anybody who I stated using girls is bad, I again realised how easy it is to do so; though, as of yet, I'm not doing that.

Her parents are only looking out for their daughter. Whether or not it's their daughter's or Sam's fault is irrelevant-- it was a nice gesture to let them know what's going on. Nothing bad is going to come from doing that.

The only reason you should be cutting off contact w/ Ellen is to give yourself time to recover. As long as you aren't getting hurt by replying to her parents or even her own texts, it really doesn't matter how you handle these situations.

You guys are overanalyzing this-- he could get into a 1-hour phone argument w/ Ellen and it wouldn't even matter, so long as after he hung up the phone, he went and did something fun and enjoyable while remaining unaffected by his ex-girlfriend's negative behavior.

As long as you're happy and are able to maintain peace of mind, what you do with or without Ellen is inconsequential. If you can't communicate with Ellen w/o sacrificing your happiness and well-being, then you obviously should continue ignoring her.

As rude/inconsiderate as it may sound, you shouldn't really care about what she's going through until you yourself have recovered enough. Sometimes you just have to look out for yourself.

Fine and dandy, if he was capable of such, which he's clearly proven he isn't. Hence why I think steering as clear as possible is the best course of action..

Regardless, there's no point in arguing over his decision regarding her parents. It's in the past now.

I'm not sure anyone was really arguing, I honestly don't feel strongly enough about this to argue. I'm not entirely convinced people were even attempting to analyse the situation for anything more than it really is. I'd say the same thing to anyone going through a messy break-up:

  • Just stay clear, it's easier for both sides.

You want a source for that? Well sadly you can't put a URL on personal experience, not just myself but friends as well.

Got another text from Ellen saying -

"Since as you haven't replied. Nothing? Oh good - so stop complaining to everyone. Bye."

It's my business who I talk to, I thought.

lol irony.

Only one person complaining there because you had the sheer audacity to strike a civil conversation with her parents. You horrible person.

A question, Why does a girl pretend to be a lesbian then quickly stop after making it evidently clear she had some attraction to you? And by some I mean a fair amount..

Attention seeking.

Penile plethysmography studies have proven that on average males are more aroused by lesbian pornography than they are when watching hetereosexuals. As soon as teenage guys hear those golden words 'I'm a lesbian' their heads go crazy with ideas, oblivious of course to the fact that being a lesbian (as opposed to being bisexual) inherently means they have no interest in males. So yeah, I'm guessing she was going round telling people she was a lesbian to get people thinking about her in "that way", only to open up the possibility she might be want to be "that way" with you. Question is: are you complaining?

Of course the alternative explanation is peer pressure. If her friends were all lesbians she felt she had to "choose" to be one as well just to fit in. But that seems absurd.

Maybe she'd prefer it if you barricaded the front door and lived as a hermit wallowing in self pity, until you reached the point where you'd rather go back to her than live in insufferable lonliness.

Oh wait, that would be called jealousy, since you can move the [bleep] on and she can't.

It's just so strange.. she's the one who broke up with me.. why is she mad?

EDIT: I think she went on her mum's profile, and messaged me through that, saying -

"My mum asked you to message your ex. not MY mum. Understand?"

will not leave me alone D:

Well she isn't, I told her she was lying as soon as she said it because it was to obvious she was straight...

Dude, girls are just strange like that. They do weird things for no apparent reason, and when you ask why, they won't tell you. It's annoying, but something you have to put up with.

What I think is most strange is that we're still on this issue. Just pretend she doesn't exist or something.

In other news, if you're a girl and you have a crush on a guy you've never met, don't strike up a chat on facebook as if you'd known the other guy forever, it's weird...

Matt: You want that eh? You want everything good for you. You want everything that's--falls off garbage can

Camera guy: Whoa, haha, are you okay dude?

Matt: You want anything funny that happens, don't you?

Camera guy: still laughing

Matt: You want the funny shit that happens here and there, you think it comes out of your [bleep]ing [wagon] pushes garbage can down, don't you? You think it's funny? It comes out of here! running towards Camera guy

Camera guy: runs away still laughing

Matt: You think the funny comes out of your mother[bleep]ing creativity? Comes out of Satan, mother[bleep]er! nn--ngh! pushes Camera guy down

Camera guy: Hoooholy [bleep]!

Matt: FUNNY ISN'T REAL! FUNNY ISN'T REAL!

My friend made the mistake of going for guys she hadn't met 3 times. Three times too many. The first had a fiancee, the second was clingy and annoying (and tried to ruin our friendship, but that's another issue), and the third was in love with his best friend (which was all over his Facebook, which is where they met - when you meet your stupid boyfriend on Facebook, wouldn't it be alarming if he wouldn't confirm the relationship status? He also caused issues between me and her).

/FG/First thread post to when I joined the family.
