Stuff got kind of out of hand last night... what I though was going to be a small kind of low key party turned into a rager. I'll just summarize by saying that I woke up at six in the morning on my bathroom floor.

 

I really really hope there are no pictures from the party. (Although I looked fantastic, wore my suit. Luckily I needed to get it dry cleaned anyways, cause I'm pretty sure the pants have some vomit on them.)

I went snowboarding yesterday, which unintentionally has become a NYE tradition of mine. Choose not to go out so I drank a bottle of champagne & some wine at home.

I could have gone to that today, but one of the people I went with was a little [bleep] and wouldn't go see it for whatever reason, so we went to Anchorman 2 and it was just not my movie, and it made me really sad that I spent 8 bucks on it.

We have $5 Tuesdays. Or at least we used to, haven't been in a while. But tickets are normally $10.50 I think.

Had dinner with my girlfriend at O'Charleys for New Years. Other than that, nothing interesting happened that night.

I don't really like going to movies on dates, but I love going with a large group of friends.

So apparently it's all the days after Christmas that are really busy :D

 

Think I finally have a day to relax tomorrow. Spent most of today on the road. I like driving, but 6 hours of the highway can get a tad bit boring.

 

I'm the opposite Low. I hate going to the movies in large groups, mostly because someone inevitably talks. When I go to movies on a date, it's usually quite early to get good seats, so there is plenty of time to chat, and no one (in my party) blabs through the whole thing.

I think I might have joined the wrong party to spend the New Years' Eve with... Did go to the party where I had more mates, but somehow we drinked too slowly and it simply was boring for most of the evening, all the way up till we left for the city square. There, I managed to completely lose me mates and somehow ended up talking a while with older geologists. About how I am going to fail this whole [bleep]ing semester.    :wall:

 

Then I found 2 mates after some calling around. Managed to do 22 phone calls to different people in 10 mins.

Didn't meet a single new person.

 

The other party that I could have gone to was a bit more exciting as I heard. I didn't know all the people there, but they had awesome time, they had a lot more girls than dudes as opposed to our company and they ended up being way more drunk and having way more fun. Saw them once at the city square.

 

After I found those 2 mates after calling around, we decided to go to eat. And there I met up with 2 other people. And in the end we ended up in someone's house, where I didn't know almost anybody. Everybody was way too drunk, yet I was just tired and nearly sober by the point. Ended up walking home 4 kilometres.

 

 

 

In other news, nearly every day I have been LANing. Age of Empires 2 HD FTW. Also, that left 4 dead 2 is pretty nice.

Next level OT. 

 

I hate my brain. My plan was to fix my sleeping schedule after New Year's Eve, so I stayed up all night, and took a short nap around noon on 1 Jan because I'd gotten too tired to go on. After that I stayed up for the rest of the day till I felt really tired again around 8:30 PM. I went to bed, and immediately fell asleep, thinking I'd wake up the next morning fresh and with a nicely reset sleeping schedule. I ended up waking up by myself before midnight and not being able to sleep for the rest of the night, till 7 AM. Now I'm back to sleeping into the afternoon and not being able to go to bed before 5 am and it frustrates me to no end since I have exams in less than a week.

Good to know that Community is turning it around for Season 5. Season 3 was getting pretty weird, and Season 4 was enjoyable, but I'm not sure I'm in a rush to see it again.

 

The Blizzard that started last night is still going on, but me and my Dad went out to clear the driveway anyway. On the one hand, a huge portion was still bare gravel because of the wind (hence Blizzard). On the other hand, I had to wade through a snowdrift that was up to my chest to get to the snowblower. It's minus 18C outside, which is actually nice for this because it helps keep you cool, and the snow is all super fluffy, so the blower has no problems throwing (it can only throw wet snow to the right). Had problems starting though. Also, we found out why it used to have a cover over the carburetor. It seems that if the snow blows back onto the left side, like say in a blizzard at -18C, it will form ice and stall the engine out. So I got to spend a few minutes with an industrial blow dryer (less air, more heat) thawing it out and warming it up.

 

It was also less than thrilled when I used it to move snow drifts that were too tall. Started having trouble when the drifts where falling into the chute from above, so that took a while. Would not have been good if we had allowed that to build up more. Anyway, having ski gear that covers everything but the skin between your nostrils pays off too. The way the property is laid out, and the way the wind sometimes comes, the wind can go from carrying the snow away from you to blowing it all right back in your face, and it's really awesome to be in a whiteout where you can't see anything, but be totally immune to the snow and wind. It's the grownup version of diving into a snowbank.

At least it was only -18C where you live. It's much colder here and I can't wait for the temperature to go up again. Supposedly it's going to happen by Monday with a storm.

It's really strange how much a person can change over a year. I thought about it the same one last new years also. The only difference was when I was thinking about it, it was because I had depression. 2012-2013 I was thinking how much my life went downhill and it amazed me. This new years, I feel like I'm on top of the world. I have a job, a fraternity, new friends, new internship, steady relationship, and I'm more fit than I have been in a while. It's a great feeling.
