Went out with some of my bros I haven't seen in a while Thursday, had a formal for my community service organization and an afterparty on friday, then came home for a good friend's 21s birthday on Sunday. The last of those was my first time having Sam Adams and 1800, both of which were pretty damn awesome compared to what I'm used to drinking at school. Tonight, however, I've been spending the whole night working on Computer Organization homework, which is incredibly frustrating. Then we took our program (our "computer"/"language") and wrote three programs for *it* in its own assembly code to do some mundane tasks. It was a really dumb assignment overall. Star. Posted January 21, 2014 Share Posted January 21, 2014 My keyboard came today, Logitech K120. Bought it based on its price (£8.47) but it has a very good feel to it. The letters on the keys look ugly as heck though. And my new watch came today as well. My left hand is sore from using the computer, so to give it a rest I spent pretty much all my time where I wasn't in class writing. I mean, I get stories in my head from time to time, and sometimes I try writing them down. Pretty sure this is the first time I came back to a story though. Definitely the first time I drew a freaking map (I am not a skilled Cartographer, but it's enough to keep things strait in my head). It's an absolute mess, since I only bothered to figure out the most bare bones plot arc possible while still calling it an arc, so every page or so is redefines the pages before it. On the upside, it leaves enough work that I probably wont mind typing it all into the computer (always do your first creative run on paper. Being able to correct everything is infuriating, and beds are more comfy than computer chairs). 12 sheets of paper (well, 6 sheets, 12 sides) single spaced of story so far (10 today). Another two (sides) outlining some of the characters and plot so that I don't wake up tomorrow forgetting all my great ideas (doesn't matter, tomorrows ideas will be better), plus the map (that was a solid hour to whip up). I figure I'm writing about 360 words per page, so 4300 words today, give or take. Anyway, I'm proud of myself. Finally managed to think up an original (if inspired) world and story. But I mean on the bright side I have an internship interview with WorkForce Software tomorrow, which, while stressful, would be a pretty solid opportunity for me to both have a productive summer and still be able to stay at home. A pretty massive career fair is coming up next week though which is stressing me out, but if I can get this internship offer at least I'll be able to relax by knowing I'll have something to do this summer no matter what, haha. Distracted Posted January 24, 2014 Share Posted January 24, 2014 I just officially turned 19. Have an exam in 8 and a half hours that I'm not really looking forward to. Oh well. 2 hours later. I've actually decided against going to that exam. Doing the online exercises just showed me that I couldn't prepare myself for it nearly well enough and it's not worth it for me to take the trip to Ghent and back for me to go there and fail. My friends are coming over later today (well tomorrow, it's 2AM, but I'm not sleeping because I need to reset my sleeping schedule drastically) to celebrate my birthday. I'm just planning on relaxing then, just enjoying myself on what is still my birthday. Afterwards I'm gonna actually try and study for an exam, the last one, because I'm interested in the subject and I feel like I can prepare myself well for it. I can honestly say I've completely failed my first semester of university and that makes me feel bad. I guess part of me kind of knew it before I even started, but I mostly ignored that feeling and opted to just let loose and live the student life. I regret that. I don't regret the good times I've had, but I regret subconsciously deciding to ignore my studies for them. I regret messing up in that way. I'll do my best to actually fix that next semester. I'll try and salvage as many subjects as I can this year so I don't have to take them all with me to next year. I had been warned about it before, not only explicitly but also in seeing it happen with others. But I guess in the end the best way to learn is to make the mistake yourself. Experience is a [bleep] sometimes. I hope I can actually make that turn-around though, it won't be easy. About that sleeping schedule, by the way. I went to bed 7 AM last night, and ended up waking up at 6 PM. I'm basically living in a completely different timezone from the one I'm actually in. I need to fix that, which is why I'm staying up all night. I always get in such a philosophical mood on the night of my birthdays... I actually denied him sex because the bed was that freaking comfortable and didn't wake up until 11.30.Lots of drinks, partying, sadly one friend found out his boyfriend had been cheating on him for the past few months with a money-bags guy who's been buying stuff and sleeping with him, so that really kicked him. Those of you who read the relationship thread, might have noticed, I have had something going for me.And practically, I am as [bleep]ed as a university student can be. My bank account is 3€, my cashpile is 2 euros with cents and I have no money coming in for at least 15 days.I lost my governmental studying bonus and I have to pay 240€ if I just wish to continue studying here. Unless I failed my last exam, in which case I am just out. My only "real" source of income now on shall be only 50 euros a month which my dad is supposed to transfer to me every month, but this month for example I haven't seen a cent of it. And my rent is around 100€ a month. Pretty harsh. YET I am immensely happy. It is incredible, how much can happen with a few days. I don't even want to drink. What is absolutely unheard of. As for me today I reinstalled Windows on my computer, was the longest I went without reinstalling and probably has to do with the fact that I didn't purposely break it. Good thing with doing this is that I got most of it's original fast speed I had. With a motherboard that is giving dieing signs for the last 6 months I guess it's not bad at all.
