Today there was a fire in one of the resident housing buildings on campus (not mine, it was across campus). Everyone I know is fine. I'm just kind of wondering now what the response is going to be from the housing people. Are they going to have mandatory meetings with the RAs, or have like a seminar on fire safety, or are they going to like come in and fit all of the stoves with a thing to make them shut off when no one's around.

 

Maybe they'll do nothing. I dunno.

Took my car in to replace the brakes, and for a checkup at lunchtime. At 5pm they told me it was ready, but as they were closing I'd have to wait until tomorrow to pick it up. Which is good because uni starts on Monday. They also hammered the exhaust due to a previous owner got a wrong part welded in which caused the exhaust to start banging into the car, but I still need to get it replaced. Which will be after I've spoken to some exhaust specialist we deliver to.

 

Do you know how hard it is to hit on girls when there's a sexual predator on the loose in the area?

The building looks completely wrecked today. There's no roof, and the top floor is just a mess of mostly burnt wood and drywall, it's pretty sweet.

I am gonna be having my first birthday party in 3 years next Saturday. Gonna be 20. Have booked a venue and invited ~80 people.

Can't imagine what might happen.

People are from very widely different backgrounds, life philosophies, relationship statuses, everything, only common denominator will be me. I don't think I've ever been to a weirder and more varied company than the one I have invited.

My friends star wars RPG is getting interesting. I'm getting a kick out of it as someone who is typically lawful neutral (or otherwise on the lawful end of the spectrum) in D&D. Our band of heroes would collectively be chaotic neutral and chaotic evil. Today we decided on the way back to our ship from a business meeting to take a detour for a hospital robbery, which involved nearly killing a few random people to make a distraction. We made this detour because we'll be damned if we go meet with someone else without having something to trade, and we thought the Mandalorians might like medical supplies (also, we need some too). Also proposed was getting some air to ground weapons for our ship so we could go hog out and just extort some towns. This all fits with how we started out, which was turning a jail break into a spice heist as well (while we're breaking out, let's steal from the prison drug stash).

 

We might be working for the good guys, but we are not good people. And it wasn't planned that way, it just kind of turned out that everyones character is a terrible person who should definitely be in jail.

 

It does certainly make things interesting.

I went to AC last night (3 friends birthday, mine, and our marine friend came home from deployment). I lost $40, drank a lot, smoked a lot, high fived a stripper and had a blast. My marine friend was up $460 when i left. im glad i decided to go

Housemates are out a karaoke thing down the local pub. Decided not to go with them. I like my housemates, but they're the kind of people who if you go out with them, they'll spend most of their time basically ignoring you and talking to lots of new people. To them it's not about going as mates, it's about who you meet. I definitely don't mind meeting new people (I love getting to know people; it's one of the best parts of my career!) just not so many and not in such a loud place!

 

So I spent the first night to myself in a very long time and I've realized a lot of the stress and anxiety I feel at the moment is because I'm not really being allowed by them, or university life generally, to have that time to myself. Because they're both always in the living room when they're home, I always feel like I'm in the spotlight in one of the two places I'm supposed to be able to kick back. If I go to my room, one of them calls me rude and antisocial. But as I said, I like them both and I'm happy to spend a couple of hours with them; I just need my own space.

 

In the time they've been gone, I've done half an assignment, sent a few emails asking for references for some care agency work I'm applying for, written a CV, watched all the Premier League match highlights for today, done all my week's work as a volunteer coordinator, and caught up on a full day's worth of news from the Crimean crisis. I wouldn't have done any of those things if they'd have been here, and if I'd have gone with, I'd probably feel exhausted and only want to be home again.

 

Definitely need to work out a way of balancing things out a bit better.

I went to a basement show last night and had pretty much the most fun I've had in I don't know how long. Stereo Coma headlining (I'm good friends with the singer's brother), with Hoser, Blankbook and Children's Books supporting. Met a lot of really rad people. On the way back to my buddy's apartment we had a ton of Hoser stickers and there was a certain Comcast van that isn't every going to look the same. Then my buddy, driving my car, backed real close to a guy watching us do it, so that I hit him with the door I was trying to climb into. By accident. But my reaction was just to shout PUNK ROCK at him and we sped off. I ended up passing out around 3 or 4am, after smoking far too much. I woke up at 8 with 3 texts. 1 from my buddy who owns the apartment asking if the girl I brought back with us was single (hell if I know I barely remember her being there). And 2 from my other friend that came with us who decided to WALK [bleep]ING HOME. It's like a 30 minute drive from the apartment we were in back to his house, and that's pure high way. His phone's now dead and I have no idea where he is. If he just waited another 3 hours I would have driven him home for christ's sake. It's not even like it's nice out. Then I had to wake my friend who own's the apartment up and ask him where my car was because for all I knew it was still in Center City. 

 

God damn I had fun.

Last weekend my family blew off the handle, with my sister and especially her husband trying to beat me to a pulp. Considering he's a steroid GYM junkie and shes preggers (and a woman obv) I couldnt do anything but stick my foot into his stomach, stopping him from punching my face after I told my sister to "F off" for lying to mum (telling her I could take the day off since I had all of tyodays studies on paper), as well as grabbing me by the collar while he tried to punch me. For the past week it got worse with more threats from them, no family member supporting me (minus the dog) and even my ex boyfriend sending me threats for money I don't owe him under any law.

 

fast forward a week, I'm looking to move out into a studio unit in-town, I gotta chat to a few peeps tomorrow to sort stuff out, then organize an inspection.

Spring break is next week. Planning on going home, since my other friends were just planning on staying up at school. That's the last place I want to spend break. Plus, I want to see my family.

I've been checking the Ukrainian situation hourly for the last few days.

Both sides have their points, the situation is not as black and white as the media shows. Both sides are in the middle of quite massive propaganda war. Russian soldiers are yet to fire one shot, same goes for Ukrainians. Russians have a somewhat legal reason to be in Crimea right now. And they are yet to set their foot on the mainland.

 

 

Damn, now I wrote about the same thing to 2 threads...

 

On topic - been to a few lectures and just wasted my time. Nothing special. Preparations for my birthday and messing things up.
