October 24, 20169 yr There is no good phone. They're all insecure pieces of crap. Why does a propriety GSM module with a non-audited, POS firmware have full access to RAM and/or GPIO? It's insane. You wouldn't use a computer if the network chip was connected directly to the public internet (e.g., no firewall), and said network chip had essentially admin privileges to your computer. I mean, public Wi-Fi is bad enough, and the most you have to worry about is someone snooping through insecure website connections, not arbitrary code execution!
October 24, 20169 yr Did you know that Apple data mines conversations? Since ios7 the microphone on your cell is always on and always listening and it's creepy as [bleep]. October 24, 20169 yr I was considering that. I'm not really up to date with all the new phones, but i figured i should be able to get a difference brand like HTC, Samsung, or Nokia (i don't even know if they still go by Nokia anymore), or whatever for a decent price and still have something similar to an iPhone 7. Problem is most people i've spoken to highly suggest getting an iPhone over other brands since most aircraft are a lot friendlier towards Apple products. I'm not sure if that's worldwide or just in this region though. But most (if not all) of the pilots my dad works with have an iPhone. I might just look around at other options anyway, but i'm sure that for anything "top of the line" i'll pay more or less the same price anyway.

October 24, 20169 yr Or just get a phone that isn't an overpriced piece of shit. Overpriced? Perhaps... Piece of shit? Far from it. I like iOS far more than any other OS on any other phone that I've used. Maybe that's because I've been using it for years now, but it is just so straight forward and easy to use. Maybe it doesn't have all of the features that you would get with an Android OS, but you are also getting an OS made specifically for your device instead of an OS that may or may not be running optimally on your phone. “I had a feeling we weren’t coming back from this fight when it began.”“Do you have any regrets?”“I don’t. It seems surprising, I know, but I wouldn’t change a thing. This is how it was meant to be.”“Huh, you never really notice how lovely the day is until you realize you’ll never see it again.”“Mmmhmm.”
October 24, 20169 yr The cool thing about the iPhone 7 is that it finally has a camera that competes with the Galaxy 4 Quote Quote Anyone who likes tacos is incapable of logic. October 25, 20169 yr Problem is most people i've spoken to highly suggest getting an iPhone over other brands since most aircraft are a lot friendlier towards Apple products. What does this mean? I literally worded that in the worst way possible. There are a few reasons i can't really explain (because either i don't understand them myself or i forgot them), but one of the other things is that there are a lot of applications for Apple products that are very helpful/convenient for pilots whether they're training or established Airline Pilots. A lot of these applications, as far as i know, are not available (yet) for other phones.

October 25, 20169 yr I rode my bicycle to a Rite-Aid (convenience store/pharmacy) just about a mile away and had three people yell at me to use the sidewalk or get out of the road, one person honk, and two people give me less than 6 inches of space. All in a timespan under 10 minutes (going there, coming back). Lol. At least I use turn signals.
October 25, 20169 yr I've always thought it was silly that riding bicycles on sidewalks is illegal. Without bike lanes, riding on the road is more dangerous for cyclists than riding on the sidewalk is for pedestrians
October 26, 20169 yr Today I got a S rank on Jinx, in an 18 minute game with one of the enemy rage quitting at level 2. I seriously did not think I would get a S rank score because my minion score was terrible, I was only 7/3/3, and it was only a 18 minute 5v4 game in which I screwed around a bit. I won't complain about getting a free S score, because I'll still need 2 more to hit Champion Mastery Level 7. October 27, 20169 yr @ Bows, YOOOO how's life dude? I've been having a completely ridiculous, awesome week. Saw Kishi Bashi and Kanye West last week (both of which were completely amazing shows), then flew back home for my school's homecoming. It was a fantastic time getting to see my old roommate from college / some college friends that are still around there, getting to go to my favorite restaurant, having some Michigan beer (nothing else I've had in this country compares to the craft beer in Michigan), and getting to see all my best friends and my parents back home. It was a completely jam-packed, incredible weekend. Then to top it off, when I got back to work on Monday I found out I got a bonus, checked out a new Thai restaurant a block away from my house that turned out to be probably the best thai food I've ever had, then capped it off by seeing Chance the Rapper which was another utterly amazing concert. That being said, it's been nice having a couple days to just chill out after all that. I've been tired as hell from all of the time zone changes / more alcohol than my body is used to haha.

I live in a poverty-stricken area that is full of people in military-financed Mustangs/Chargers and hilariously oversized $60K+ trucks. The automative fetish is undeniable. It is also full of morbidly obese individuals. We're in a sandhills areas--lots and lots of hills. Most of them couldn't even ride a bicycle more than half a mile. In 2,000 miles on my scooter across all kinds of weather, I've seen maybe a handful of cyclists using the road. They don't exist.

October 28, 20169 yr I've voiced this opinion before, but [bleep] all languages that aren't strongly typed. For the last 2 weeks and the forseeable future at my new job, I've been writing in Visual Basic which, while it's not dynamically typed, doesn't check types at compile time or something. I don't really understand what it does tbh. I've made so many god damn errors already. Writing unit tests today and copying code between them (Different code, similar looking layout of variable declaration -> Call -> Assert) and then not knowing when I didn't change a type or whatever until I actually reread the code was super duper frustrating. Like [bleep] man, just let me go back to Java, jeez. My skin is finally getting softI'll scrub until the damn thing comes off
October 28, 20169 yr Idk, usually I catch errors like that before I even go to build Sorry you have to use visual basic though
