Are guthan sets unvervalued?

The lower Guthan drops, the better for people like me who dosent earn 10m a day.

It's amazing guthans managed to keep a high price since it's been out for years and now summoning has sort of replaced it.

 

Torags is exactly the same as it was before the G E for some reason, I dunno about Karils and Ahrims, but all the others have dropped since then, except guthans, which stayed around the old prices.

 

 

 

I only really use Torags, because I don't like the look of other sets, and the effects don't interest me.

 

 

 

6.7m for guthans, when it's only unique use is fight caves, I'd say that was a bit overpriced. But hey, Barrows has to have at least one decent item for profit in there, so I guess it's ok.

 

 

 

torags was 2.1m (full set i think. maybe without hams i could be wrong) before the grand exchange. i know it perfectly because a dear friend of mine quit right around that time. dharoks was 3.6m which I CRYSTAL CLEAR remember because that's when i was starting to get a lil rich and was buying myself toys. guthans was in the 7.4m to 9m area.... it used to jump up and then with jumping... is you go up and then you eventually go down.

 

 

 

i looooooooove guthans. as much as i love it i can afford the 1930's reigning on my armor so it's not getting bought untill i know i can laugh at the price. i only have 58 summoning but i bet i have enough for 68. once i get it though i'll prolly run out of charms so........ anywho.

 

 

 

you guys remember the whip being 2.6m a few years ago? man i hated that. whip is getting down there in price as well. i remember seeing the price for it being about 1.6mish and i just jumped at that... that thing is steadily going down as well.

 

AS FOR some one saying the price of party hats going down.... never gunna happen. i don't know why, don't care, don't expect, don't worry, don't think about it.

The feeling which you explained is bad, but not everyone can go GWD'ing etc. and make millions a day. Im not a rich guy and Im sure that there are thousands more who would be glad that something worth so much is dropping now that we actually have the chance to purchase it.

 

 

 

And not all of us just sit and wait for the sky to rain money, some of us are actually earning small amounts of cash time by time. Infact, you should be appreciative that you can have the luxury to go kill Boss monsters (If you do) and hunt for good drops as there are quite a number of people who cant do that, and I know you're probably gonna say "Then train your skills and go", but even you were one of "us" a long time ago before you become a professional in this game.

I have both, bunyips and my guthan set

 

Not everything can be replaced by a bunyip :shame:

i remeber barrows coming out and i got a guthans spear on my first ever run and sold for 20mil :thumbsup:

 

sortly after 109991 got hacked and i started again -.- :-#

 

the only barrows item i use is dh legs because i use torso etc and personally for the price of guthans you can buy 7kish sharks? which heal a bit more than guthans ever will ;)

 

 

 

and because someone will tell me otherwise please play enough with guthans to do 35000 special damage -.-

I'm not sure why people think that bunyips can heal just as well as Guthan's, because they don't.

Its just a delayed ripple from summoning.

 

 

 

Previously guthans was god due to healing, now as people get better with summoning and learn to integrate it into general game play bunyips etc are used in place of guthans allowing players to use thier godswords whips etc against monsters meaning guthans is less widely used meaning there is less demand meaning price falls

Bunyips (and other healing familiars) pretty much take the cake for healing, especially whilst Slaying. I can do an entire task of anything that previously required a set of Guthans without banking. That 7M went nicely towards Bandos armour, which just makes Guthans only useful at some venues (GWD, DKs). It was always going to fall with the success of Summoning, I'm surprised it hasn't dipped under 6M yet.

I don't think they are undervalued. Everyone and their mom is doing Barrows. Now that bunyips and such are out that is making for less demand so people are forced to sell for less. As far as Karil's and Ahrim's I'm not sure why they are so low. But now I think Verac's is easily the most useful set. Unless I decide to buy a rare if I ever get members again, I'll probably buy Guthans, Dh, and Veracs. Maybe Ahrim's if I raise my nooby mage level. :lol:

 

 

 

Someone before mentioned buying 7k sharks would be better than buying Guthans. I would have to disagree, depending on the amount of time you had the set, not to mention you aren't going to get that amount of free inventory space.

Titan's scrolls are expensive and they suck, Bunyip is far better.

You don't need 25+ hp every 30 seconds while training. Also, it slows you down as guthans spear is a very weak weapon.

for my slayer tasks, it does. I have not used guthans since i got 68 summoning. But, i dont go to boss creatures where it might be needed.

 

 

 

When i goto abby demons for slayer or whatever, I read books and stuff. When my bunyip is out if i drop to 80 hp its a miracle, and i quickly recover. Its much more useful at a place where you take low, but consistent damage. Then compared to a place where you take somewhat larger damage.

 

 

 

 

 

also a friend of mine, said guthans cant be used in the fight cave anymore. Which I doubted alot, but i dont go their so... yeah hope thats not true.

i dont even make 10mil a day, and ive had guthans for some time now. Much like alot of people. I bought my set for 14mil.

 

 

 

 

 

Its just you people who cannot afford it need to have a practical application and cash flow for it. And its not even a cash flow, more like a just a 1-2mil in coins fore repair. Thats all i would suggest. Then, use that for things like slayer or whatever. It is useful but their are better alternatives.

in my everyday combat, it has completely replaced guthans. I in fact considered selling it just 2 days ago. But, why would i do that? i like to have all the sets. And i might one day need it for something random like a quest, which i still doubt.

Don't forget guthans is good for multitasking/afking. I just slap it on and hop to the chaos tunnels while doing other things.

6.4M :o whaaaaaaaaaaat. I haven't seen it that low since.. well.. it came out :shock: lowest I ever saw it go was 6.7M but then it shot back up to like 8M.

Hard to get? Barrows is super easy and alot of people do it. I'd bet several full sets are brought in each day.

gosh i come back to this thread and there all this debate about how hard barrows is and bunyips, but i was talking about the short term price changes. anyways doesnt matter not, guthans went up over 150k in the last two days =]

while i know why they are are droping i have to say its diapointing not because im losing money (bought at 8.1mil) but because it devaules the hard work i had to go through to make that much money (when i bought guthans i had never had more than 2.5mil in cash).

 

 

 

also while i agree bunyip etc are usefull in some cases for slayer but im not happy with a max of 4 hp every 30 seconds at dags where i can be hit up to 15+ every 30 seconds so even when i heal on a 20 using guthans at dags id feel saferbut if im honest im probably not gonna use a bunyip when i get 68 summoning

OK. My oppinion on this is next:

 

 

 

1.I disagree with those who said bunnyip replaces it in most of places for reason summoning healings only work at people with high def(altho not literary,it depends on monster).Speaking of that i recently saw someone posted how he got shocked,and bunnyip is not as good as he expected,however thing is most high lvls got bunnyip before lower lvls will even start with summoning due to it's coast.EVEN if more people get bunnyip it simply wont replace guthans in slayer task such as hellhounds or greater demons (perhaps some might still use bunnyip here but over 85 def only i guess)

 

 

 

2.I disagree guthan is only used for Bandos and fight pits, because it is also used fighting Dagganoth monsters,some people consider it as a must in there,bunnyip or any other summoning monster won't help here AT ALL (at these places people would rather use beast of burden)

 

 

 

3.Back to topic.Most of people here just argued about question "is guthan worth it". But actually i didnt find thread author asked only about that.Its least important thing at this point.If you ask me is it worth it - i dont know i leave it up to you

 

 

 

What is going to happen with guthan's - Unfortunatly IT WILL continue to fall. Hoever it's further price will mostly depend on SGS price,if sgs goes down alot guthan is going down aswell,THIS WILL HAPPEN.But other than this more people will train up their summoning

 

 

 

When is it possible guthan's price is going to RAISE? = When Jagex realises new game update where combat and healing will be more important (Such as godwars boss slaying - altho currently guthan is only used at bandos for the reason Zammorak steals prayer,Aramadyl ranged only,Sara too hard for most of ppl i guess). IM QUITE SURE THERE WILL BE SUCH UPDATE for the reason most people aim for that...

 

 

I think guthan's won't fall below 5m.Can't say but perhaps 4.5m will be LOWEST if i wonder.But its all still pretty much unpredictable

Generally when something drops like that it's going to stay down for a while, then interest will perk up and the price will go up again. But when you see it slightly curve up, BUY BUY BUY.
