there's no need to take the olympics seriously anyway. its mainly entertainment.

even a winner of a gold medal will be forgotten a month after the olympics.

Kelly Holmes? Paula Radcliffe? That rower whose name I forgot... :|

USA! USA!

Loved the opening ceremony. That 200 foot long scroll which was actually an LCD screen was simply amazing, and the thing with the block shapes that moved up and down in a wavy pattern... I nearly spit out my food when I saw it was operated by people. Its amazing how so many people can be coordinated precisely.

I felt really sorry for the Chinese cheerleaders in the ceremony, who had to dance and clap for each country as they appeared for 2 hours. You could see how they were excited for the first few countries then after about half an hour they got really tired and sweaty, but still smiled.

I am hoping that some of the less-known pacific island countries can take home a gold or any medal, just to make their nation proud. some countries have just 1 or two athletes and if any of them got to take home a medal it would be one of the most amazing moments in their country's history.

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

This is the first day of the Olympics that I'm watching. Saw the football game between Holland and the USA. I thought we didn't play very well, especially the second half we were very weak. It looks like the Americans have much more motivation. I also saw some parts from the Ladies, field hockey. We are defending our title, and did pretty good against South Africa. Now I am watching Basketball, China vs. USA. I never really watched basketball, but this is a beautiful sport. It's amazing how these men are flying trough the air. Of course I am supporting the underdog.

The olympics are a waste to me. I don't really care about others athleticism. Until we revert back to old style olympics, I won't ever be interested.

You mean guys trancing around naked and wrestling eachother after being bathed in oil?

Only then will you be interested?

Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.

Ah! Beat me to the punch!

Anyway, I think it's more interesting to watch a sport that you participate in as well. For example; I run, so I think the running events are the funniest to watch. I guess it's because you have an appreciation of it.

Being the low stamina kid that I am, it's rather cool to see how much people can endure in these events. I used to swim and considered a 200m to be murder. Here these competitors are doing 400m's which I think is pretty intense. Is there a 400m butterfly? Butterfly is by far the hardest stroke, and anyone who can survive a 400m of butterfly is my idol.

and then there's those really long cycling competitions. I can't ride my bike for 10 minutes before my crotch starts to hurt from the hard seat. I can't imagine how these cyclists survive doing 20 or 30 km races. Especially today in the woman's cycling where it was raining the entire time. That's pretty dangerous, not to mention uncomfortable, and its amazing what the human body can do in the pursuit of fame and respect.

im looking forward to seeing iran win anything so i can drape a large iranian flag on my back and run yelling through the neighborhood, thereby raising the terror level of my neighborhood to orange.

I was thinking about Tehran hosting the 2016 Olympics, with Ahmadinejad opening the games. Would be way more cooler than the Queen in four years' time. -.-

China have got a strong chance of getting more golds than the US this year.

GO CHINA! china-flag-16.gif(not that anyone in China can actually read this post...)

The US team this year is weak apparently. The Aussies have got high ambitions, we're hoping for 4th. We've even sent a 14-year-old to secure a medal for us.

Not anymore, China got destroyed by the U.S. in basketball with a double digit deficit.

^That game didnt even decided a medal so you cant really say USA are beating China because of one event.

Anyway, last 2 days have been pretty boring in my opinion, no "nail biting" medal deciders yet.

Wasn't a medal game, but I found the first US men's sand volleyball game to be quite exciting. The US lost to a team that they beat in 32 minutes the last time they met.

USA beat France in the men's 4x100 freesstyle relay! It was epic! Find a video if you didn't see it. Most nail biting moment yet, in my opinion.
