Wow, another ignorant person who thinks George Bush is the spawn of Satan. Stop hating on him, he's the person we voted for. We could have voted for Kerry, or any of the other delegates, but you thought he was the man for the job. Don't be a hypocrite and blame him for your problems. I think there will be no WW3 because the next president might resolve these conflicts. Stop it with the hating...

Only 39% of Americans voted in 2004, of which 50% voted for Bush and 49% voted for Kerry. So only about 20% of Americans voted for Bush. Understandable, considering his approval rating.

Oh and about the next President, good luck getting a new President after Bush attacks Iran and delcares ML, suspending the elections.

maybe if people wanted to complain about Bush they should have maybe oh I dont know voted against him

seriously everyone Ill give you that George Bush is nowhere near being a great leader and has screwed a lot up. But if you want to blame Bush for every little thing that goes wrong in the world you are just being ignorant.

and about the electoral college it actually does have a good purpose. If the presidential election was decided purely by population the candidates would just campaign in urban areas because theres more people they can talk to at once. If you do that all of a sudden you are alienating a lot of rural voters leading to more bad feelings between city and country people.

Heh. That's funny because I said Russia.

Regardless of what name you use (USSR, Russia, Soviet Union, Russian Federation, CCCP etc) your still wrong, none of them were allied with USA in the period between the end of WW2 and 1991. That is historical fact.

I don't think the surpreme count would allow it. On January 20th either John McCain or Barack Obama will be our president. Period.

Well, ww1 (the great war) and ww2 were 50 years appart. Its been 50 years since ww2.

They weren't even 20 years apart

And Omali, you do realize that the primarily Democratic Congress would have to pass the bill of war? Good luck with that.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

Antarctic ice isn't really melting. Most of the continent is getting colder.

I don't personal think in any foreseeable future that we can have another World war, No government is stupid enough to go to war with the super powers.... well the Georgian Government did..... but it just goes to show what happens. DON'T ATTACK RUSSIA! you wont win!

The threat to the world is no longer governments, it is the army's who don't have a country, terrorism being the main source. Now it's verypossible at some point some time in the future a terrorist organisation will have the follow thru to use a nuclear weapon against "the west"...... but one strike does not constitute a war.

Today military action is more of "sticking our noses into other people business" for example (no surprise) America are essentially doing the same as a terrorist organisation in the fact they attack other countries to try and force their views and customs in areas they are not practise.

The only differences are the methods used to carry this out, and what the views enforced are.

Now I semi expect to be flamed by some patriotic Americans for relating the American government to terrorists...... but I am open for that!

Back to the point, I doubt we will ever see another world major conflict so long as we don't get trigger happy world leaders in more than a few countries. Attacks are likely and will come..... but an attack is not war.

Some can classify me as being overly patriotic (American)... But I do sympathise with Russia here- Georgia provoked the Russians, by attacking Russian peacekeeping forces in non-Georgian territory (territory which was relatively independent, although unrecognised officially). Russia had every right to attack Georgia, and the Western Bloc went too far in placing the blame on the Russians- just because Georgia is an American ally does not grant it immunity... Nor does NATO membership cut it...

I really wonder what'd happen to me in case of a WW3, seeing I live in a forgotten country without an army. Probably food prices would rise to a point we'd just slowly starve to death while you're killing yourself. Or we could die to a nuclear winter if the war escalated too much. :?

Or 4: The radiation warps the genetic structure of all nearby viruses, which then mutates into the T virus and so on and so forth, until you end up getting nuked anyway.

If all russia did was to expel the Georgians from south ossetia and abkhazia it wouldn't have been a huge deal but they invaded Georgia well beyond what was necessary. They captured cities that were no where near those regions. And russia should not have had "peacekeeping" forces inside Georgian territory to begin with.

I don't see anywhere in my previous statements that say "The US and USSR were allies and they were even allies during the Cold War." So, I don't know where you pulled that claim out of. As for the destroying of credibility, that is not relevant. I know my history and I was making an accusation.

Russia has been allies with the U.S since WWII. They were known as the Soviet Union until December of 1991, so technically we were allies with the Soviet Union since WWII up until '91 when the Soviet Union collapsed and became known as Russia.

Looks like you have no clue of what you're talking about

As for WWIII, I don't see it happening in the near future. Current situation isn't even close to the tension during Cold War.

However, it wasn't Georgian territory- technically speaking, after the early 90's, Georgia in itself would rather the two territories have de facto independence- which they did. Georgian troops, however, attacked Russian forces that were attempting to maintain peace, as they have done for over ten years...

To be honest, I would prefer World War Three to wait a few years, In three years, I plan to be sitting in the United States Air Force Academy anyway. If thw world would kindly wait ~ten years or so for the apocalypse to come, so i can at lest be a decent rank in the USAF so I can keep me, and my friends off the battlefield. Yay for avoiding the draft! Anyway, WWIII... Honestly, I see maybe some conflicts, but I really do not see a world wide war, involving (this time I expact if it happens) At least one country from every continent. IF anything big happens, I forsee it being a "conventional" war. Not involving hydrogen thermonuclear intercontinental ballitic missles. THis discussion is great by the looks of it. I am interested to see, if WWIII playes out, which side China is on. China and Russia have a great history af friendship and cooperation [/sarcasm]. Soooo...a global war could see CHina on our side...interesting...
