Hey! Welcome to my guide about catching the karambwan, an unusual fish that sells for up to 650gp ea :ohnoes: hopefully you'll like it and you might be able to make some money (also better ideas for a title are welcome -.- )!

 

 

 

 

 

~=Starting out=~

 

 

 

You dont need much to fish for karambwan. As long as you've finished Tai Bwo Wannai Trio, got a small net, and access to the Fairy Rings, you should be fine.

 

 

 

The ideal Inventory and setups are as follows...

 

 

 

 

As you can see this inventory will cost the earth and will far outrun your profit margin....[/sarcasm]

 

 

 

 

 

The net can be bought at any good fishing store and the brown thing ( karambwan vessel) can be bought from Tidichae (sp) in Tai Bwo Wannai, near the guy who sells the machetes\ clothes.

~=Getting There=~

 

 

 

First, Find any fairy ring in Runescape, teleport to Zanaris and type in...

 

 

...And You'll end up here, with the Karambwanjii fishing spot directly behind me.

 

 

Fish an entire inventory of Karambwanjii and then head off back to the fairy ring.

 

 

 

Once back at fairy HQ, type in the code DKP and you'll end up at the Karambwan fishing spot.

 

 

 

 

and then go ahead and click on the fishing spot.

 

 

 

Dont be worried if this happens, it doesn't happen very often, probably not more than 1 in 5?

 

 

 

Hope that this happens, ( Yay profit!)

 

 

 

~=Finishing up=~

 

 

 

This doesn't bring in such a hefty pay as say Monkfish, but it only requires 5 fishing, yes only 5! and the cooked karambwan heal a whopping 18hp! With the food market on the rise i can only say....Happy hunting( for fish)!

not a bad guide, I just used it. the only thing I can say is I'm dissapointed with those nimble karambwans! They snatched the bait 18 times out of 26...

Not only do they heal 18 hp, but they act as potions which means no lag after eating if timed right.

to bad i'm f2p cause i have 53 fishing

they seem to only be good at higher levels, i remember fishing them and got around 10 out of 26 karambwan, that's 16 peices of bait lost per trip =/.

 

 

 

none-the-less, it's a good guide, i'll try them later to see if my slightly higher fishing level helps at all, i used to like using them as a cheap food source lol

include fish per hour...how much cash...cash per hour etc...xp per hour

if they sell raw you can actually make money cooking and selling them

I coulda sworn you needed 65 fishing to actually catch the Karambwan, unless that's only during the quest? I know the Karambwanji take 5.

I do buy Karambwan. It's my #1 preferred food since you receive no combat delays from eating it when timed right. Very useful at mostly anything and it's cheap enough. It takes practice to learn the timing, however.

Or you can do Trio Quest and just buy the octapuses from one of the three sons and use it on your own.

hmm i heard its still a delay

 

cheap eh use pineapple pizzas heals 22hp in 2 bites but you can eat the whole thing in 1 animation

cheap eh use pineapple pizzas heals 22hp in 2 bites but you can eat the whole thing in 1 animation

 

Pizzas still have a delay after the attack though. Also, you can eata bite of pineapple pizza and shark at the same time, not just 2 pizzas. Karambwan doesn't have any delay, Jagex didn't change it.

 

 

 

Tested. It doesn't affect combat.

Is Octopi the Correct Plural of Octopus?

 

Most dictionaries list octopi and octopuses as the correct plural of octopus, but some English Usage Dictionaries say that octopi is incorrect. Fowler's Modern English Usage says the following:

 

 

 

A note on the plural form: Fowler's Modern English Usage states that "the only acceptable plural in English is octopuses", and that octopi is misconceived and octopodes pedantic. Octopi derives from the mistaken notion that octopus is Latin. It is not. It is (Latinized) Greek, from oktopous (????????), gender masculine, whose plural is oktopodes (?????????). If the word were Latin, it would be octopes ('eight-foot') and the plural octopedes, analogous to centipedes and millipedes, as the plural form of pes ('foot') is pedes. You should probably give the cash and xp/hour numbers, since it is the numbers which ultimately decide if a method is good or not.

 

 

 

However, anyone should consider this as an alternative to fishing monkfish. It is a great, and unique, way to make money through fishing.

Ooh, didn't know about those rings, was running up and down Karamja at the start of the quest lol (for the ach diary). The thing is, is it actually worth it? I guess for personal use, but I heard there's a store that sells them.

The Brimhaven Restaurant does, in fact, stocked COOKED Karambwan, as well as bass, tuna, lobster, and swordfish. However, being unlimited stock, the prices are high.

Vessel (Level 62/P2P):

 

When you have completed Tai Bwo Wannai Trio quest and have the appropriate fishing level you can catch your own Karambwan which heals 18 each if cooked properly. First you need loads of Karambwanji for bait. Use a small net to catch them in the lake just south of the Tai Bwo Wannai village fire ring. When you think you have enough, grab your vessel and head across the log bridge and up to the north shore. Use a Karambwanji with your vessel to load it, then click on a fishing spot and away you go! Remember, you have to reload your vessel after each catch. Players who have at least started Fairy Tale Part II quest to access fairy rings, can use code CKR for the Karambwanji lake, and code DKP to reach the Karambwan fishing shore.

 

 

 

Note: If you've lost your vessel you can buy a new one from Tiadeche in the village; he will also buy raw Karambwan from you.

Once you have finished the quest where you learn how to fish them you can buy them from the fishing brother in the village.
