What Game(s) Did You Last Get and What Are You Playing?

I chucked in Driver: San Francisco a couple of days back and I'm enjoying it a ridiculous amount. I didn't expect to have this much fun at all. I knew it was good, but not this good/enjoyable.

  • Yeah, it's pretty awesome. The game is called "I'm Clearly Not Paying Attention: Wrong Sub-Forum Addition". It's gotten some pretty positive reviews so far, and the PC port is spectacular.

So you haven't played it that much yet then. The beginning is slow and boring, but mediocre. It crosses into the realm of actually being a bad game as you go on.

I thought it was ok with friends. Was terribly impressed, but I'd give it a 7/10.

I was v. impressed by it, the only thing I knew about Driver was that it was a kinda subpar GTA but this was rad as heck.

It got better as it went on, but now I'm up to the part where I'm supposed to escort this tribal leader. I'm not even going to try.

Finished Ass Cred Bro. It was quite good honestly, I didn't feel nearly as invested as in 2, but i had a lot of fun, end felt rushed.

Just recently picked up Lollipop Chainsaw. I went in with very low expectations, and while it definitely started off a bit rocky, with each sucessive playthrough I have been enjoying it more and more. By the time I got to the point where I could buy all outfits/items/combos, I was having a blast.

Definitely worth checking out if you can pick it up cheap

Good luck getting out of it (both out of skyrim and clearing the backlog, especially the latter. Once that backlog starts forming, it won't get shorter :P)

Trials Evolution Gold Edition for the PC. It's only in beta atm, and I'm pretty unhappy it comes with uPlay, but the game is great, unsurprisingly.

Tossing up whether I want to drop cash on a 360 controller, and if I do, whether I should get it from Aus for $35 or China/Hong Kong for like $15.

Picked up a new game, couldn't resist. Silent Hunter 4, since this is the one I have seen, and by all accounts the 5th one sucks (also, it only gives you one sub, where 4 allows you to upgrade over time). Another pick up from watching lets plays, though I made it through the entirety of One F Jef's lets play on it (12 missons, maybe 18-22 hours long?). I don't think I'll be replicating his playstyle, which is the most ludicrous combination of luck, skill, and aggression I have ever seen (of course attacking a convoy with only 5 torpedoes left while on your way home is a good idea!). Still, seeing someone who is good at the game, and tactics in general, makes this kind of game a lot easier to approach, since I frankly wouldn't have a fart of a clue how to take on convoys or task forces without seeing it done, sort of like how I suck at flight simulators in no small part because I don't want to read a novel worth of guides.

Not really done anything yet, but I have a sub out on the seas, and hopefully I'll find a nice easy target to get started on while I work out how to control my ship (the problem with lets plays is you can't see the keyboard being used). It's also given me some ease with going in with harder settings, like manual targeting, rather than just pointing at an enemy and having a perfect solution magically enter itself into my targeting computer. The hardest part will probably be convoys, since I won't be able to range with sonar (which Jef never does, probably never noticed you could >.>). Nothing like having a scope up near ships that can blow you out of the water while you flip through a book trying to figure out what your shooting at (need the ship height to range it with a scope).

EDIT: Having played for a bit, it's a pretty cool game though I accidently made it a little easier than I intended. I think I can fix that next time I'm back in port though so I guess makes for a nice warm up. Definately keeping the external free flying camera. I'll not use it to give me an advantage, but for cases where it really doesn't matter (like shooting down a boat that is 1000 yards off the bow) it's really cool to get another view. Was also following some torpedoes because I already attacked a harbour. Sub chasers have really shallow draft. Fired one clean under it, and the follow up only just got it at minimum depth (which is a little more than 7ft I think >.>). On the plus side, a lower keel hit on a small boat is a one hit kill. That was quite spectacular.

I also now have an appreciation for just how slowly submariens go under water, even crash diving. Got spotted by a plane and when for an evasive action that auto crash dives and throws in a turn (I think it's a crash dive, it did put the hammer down to help make me a harder target and dive faster at least). Got bombed, and I think he missed (as in missed a direct hit) by about 50 ft. Totally interupted my sprint to catch a merchant ship. Without thinking I resurfaced (for the speed, can only manage half speed under water and it kills the battery) under 2nm away (which for a ship that doesn't know I'm there, is close enough to torpedo) so I ended up charging it with the deck gun. That thing sucks. I think it absorbed about 30-40 4 inch shells from both AP and HE before it finally went boom. I accidently closed in too far to keep hitting the water line so I just blasted it open and started filling it with explosives, then sent the camera out to watch it sink which was quite awesome.

Currently greatly enjoying Path of Exile. Some would argue that it's the game Diablo 3 should have been. It's completely free to play, and not play to win, and while it's still in beta it generally works like a charm. These short race events they've been hosting lately are a good deal of fun, too.

Unfortunately PoE has one feature that I don't like: It is not simple to respec.

That kills the game for me pretty much, most of these skill point related games have that as a common feature which I am very much against (basically, it screws you over for your ignorance, and if you want to remedy that, you either have to pay through your nose to get your char respeced, or just rebuild another character completely), so either I find the information about best spec either before I even start playing, or if I can't find it, do a very painful trial and error.

I'll stick to D3 for now, at least I don't have to waste characters to do trial and error

It's a pretty interesting RPG. Reminds me a lot like Fable, but much better and alot more to do. Actually, it reminds me like a single-player WoW. Combat is addictingly fun.

Sigh..

been playing the jak and daxter series. got my first platinum trophy on the ps3 from jak 1, and now im at the 2 hardest missions (for me) in jak 2 so im taking a break before i break a controller

Ranqecaravan.png

Awesome. The Platinum's super easy to get in the first (But then again I could probably manage it in less than a day and have done it far too many times). The second and third are a lot harder. Especially if you miss an orb in a spot you can't get back to.

I bet it's the mission in the water slums with the million Krimzon Guard guys.

yup. its the water slums mission and that on rails mission from vin.

Darksiders 2. Close to finishing it now on easy, and i am enjoying it.

Just finished the Heart of the Swarm campaign. I don't think I find any wrong with the overall storyline, just the minor details.

I cannot help to make the following parody after I finished the campaign though:
