JIM
After achieving a few long-term goals I'd set for myself, I've decided to do some quests. I have a list of quests I need to do a mile long and as much as I try to involve myself in the storylines, I can't help but find them a bit of a bore. I've found the quest guides on Tip.it and other RS fansites a massive help! I doubt I would do quests at all if they weren't available. I mentioned this to a friend ingame today and he responded with shock, unable to believe someone could actually dislike questing. In many cases I have to admit that it's not only that I find it boring but because I doubt I could figure out what it is I'm supposed to do next without a good few days of thought on the subject lol. :P It got me wondering what the rest of the RS community think about quest guides. I've noticed that a fair few people would even go as far as to say that the guides detract from the quests and shouldn't be available... What do you do? Guide or freestyle? The stars are matter, we're matter, but it doesn't matter.-Don Van Vliet
Hajutze
if you enjoy questin (which you dont) freestyle , but if you are in for the rewards - guide. I for example like the storylines , not the questing , so I use guides mostly...
Sam
Guides are very helpful IMO. I'm not much of a quester myself, so I don't try to immerse myself in the storylines. 2257AD.TUMBLR.COM
Italian5kamikaze
I usually use guides, but some quests are pretty easy to do, or at least parts of them without a guide. Quit. PM me if you play The Conduit to exchange friend codes.
Gbpackers31
For me, I pretty much always use guides, mainly for three reasons: 1)I dont really enjoy quests much; I only want the rewards, so I dont care about spoiling anything. 2)Guides save so much time! Usually, I dont play too much Runescape, so I dont want my limited time taken up by a quest that I could just use a guide for. 3)Some quests are hard! lol... For example, I would never have been able to do Underground Pass without a guide... There are a few quests that I have not used a guide, but those are the super easy ones that take like 10 minutes or something.
Salad
Freestyle exept when im REALLY stuck. It's more fun :D
Smavey
Yeah freestyle is the way to go. I've NEVER used a quest guide (and i have a quest cape) I know it takes way more time but to me quests are my favorite part in the game and are SO much more fun when you do them with no help at all. At least most of them are.
Racheya
Sometimes I might try on an easier quest to freestyle it but I'm not a quester so I'll just jump to the guide the second I go... wait... what now? It makes things a whoooole lot easier  I edit for the [Tip.It Times]. I rarely write in [My Blog]. I am an [Ex-Moderator].
doomy
I use guides generally, its very hard and frustrating doing some quests freestyle. (Imagine doing MEP II!) Its also fun though :P Doomy edit: I like sheep

Uaexkiller
I do all quests the day it comes out with no guide but if there is one, i would use it since its faster... I LOVE Quests  had full quest points a year before the cape came out 8-)
Mr_Adam
I use them, mostly because I don't like getting stuck and wasting time, and I have the quest cape =\ I feel kinda guilty for it, and now I've been trying to do quests without guides, and I have been since Summer's End (mostly). I'm gonna try to do the Grandmaster quest without a guide though :ohnoes: And I do quests the day they come out, usually.
Roberthree
I check the guide and I check the reward so I don't wind up with something like terrorbirds added to my task list.
BabyPunchers
I use guides all the time. I hate quests more than anything in rs. Hell, I did Imp Catcher at level 130. Thanks to all those who have messaged me concerning a revamp of my Range-Slayer guide. Because of you all I will start rewriting it asap.[/color] Formerly RobinHoodie. spooferfish
I use guides. The quests frustrate me enough with a guide, I don't want to try without one.
Levon_
I use guides cause im too lazy. F2P quests have next to no real story line and bore the hell outa me. It's great you know what you're talking about rustiod. Everything you've said is 100% accurate a true. That being said...your a [bleep]ing [bleep] douchebag, and none of your advice will ever (or should ever) be taken seriously because of it.disregard good advice because the giver is a douche THAT MAKES YOU A BETTER PERSON
Grasle
Sometimes I look at a guide just to see the needed items, but I tend to freestyle quests other than that. I love quests.
Atom Smash40
i use guides 100%. but thats because i do the "neccesary quests" (like desert treasure, hero's, and others that unlock things). ~ 3,072nd to 99 Mining on August 30th, 2009 ~~ 112,084th to 99 Magic on April 16th, 2011 ~~ 131,681st to 99 Crafting on March 29, 2019 ~~ 178,385th to 99 Prayer on April 2, 2019 ~~ 234,921st to 99 Defence on May 9, 2019 ~~ 173,480th to 99 Herblore on June 21, 2019 ~~ 155,160th to 99 Smithing on July 16, 2019 ~
Angelized
Quests are frustrating enough as it is, guides all the way! Well, with the exception of the really short and simple quests.
acsstarlight
I used to hate questing so I used guides, but for the last ten quests or so I have been doing them on my own. The good thing about not using a guide is that I tend to pay more attention to the storyline than with one. In the past I've also just looked at guides for the required items but not for the walkthroughs.
captainpoet
MEP 2 would've been hell without a quest guide.... How is it even possible to do it without one!!? I tried to do that quest when I was REALLY sleep deprived the day it came out...gave up on the hardest part after trying for two hours on it...was just too sleep deprived to go on. The morning after I decided to use a guide for a last resort on it, and was honestly a bit annoyed that I done everything right except I accidentally turned one crystal wrong. *sigh* Anyway, what I'm trying to say is Guides are a good idea to use as a little reminder of what needs to be done, but they take away from the spirit of the quest if you use a guide to just do the whole quest...kind of makes it as more of an annoying task in the game really. Ixindor
I personally load up a guide. Get everything needed for it. Read through it to make sure I don't miss anything (like extra exp or Items like the Blurite Sword and Dark Dagger...DAMN YOU JAGEX!). Then get it done with extreme prejudice. I kinda like questing, but don't want to waste time getting them done. I do like when the quest is part of a new area. For example, I know how to get in and out of the Dense Jungle south of Shilo from my experience with the Legend's Quest verses say, Waterbirth Island. I've never been to any of the lower floors. Why? Because a quest didn't take me there. I have yet to see a Dag King in Runescape. Been a Quest Cape holder for awhile now.
Oathkeeper
was not expecting the responses that I read. I personally only use the guide to check the items needed, i'll not look at the steps (which is why tip.it is awesome) I feel that it's alot more accomplished whenever I FINALLY figure out that puzzle. RoswellCrash
I love the people that say I use guides because I don't enjoy quests, how can you enjoy a quest if you know whats going to happen? just an excuse for not being able to do them.. MEP 2 would've been hell without a quest guide.... How is it even possible to do it without one!!? I managed it in 3 hours, I have done all the quests since I completed them in 2005 on day of release. - Twitter | RuneScape FB Group | My PC
