Achieving level 99, naturally.

So I was thinking about how some players really grind away at levels to max it out. And I began to wonder if anyone ever reached level 99 in a skill.. without trying. No power leveling. Just playing the game casually. Well, maybe not casually.

I'm sure it's possible if someone started playing early enough..

Of course.

Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:

This is an interesting question. I would think that the only skills people have gotten without really, really grinding them would be combat skills. But I guess it's possible with other skills like woodcutting and fishing.. Really I only ever hear of people grinding out millions of xp at a time to get 99s.. Hmm :ugeek:

Pirate Rosetta stone. Learn a language while you scape.

Sounds interesting, but these days how many people really speak Pirate?

Erm, what does "natural" gaming comprise of? Doesn't everyone train skills?

I'm sure it's done quite a bit, maybe not all the time but I'm sure it happens. I myself like to raise skills when I need to and for example I cook fish when I need them for combat or just for healing and over a period of time it has gotten to 91 although some of the experience was from trying. Firemaking was different though, that was flat out grinding for 99 but I'm trying to do less grinding and just train a skill when I please and not try for a 99.

I think "Achieving a level 99, INADVERTENTLY" would be more fitting. 'Naturally' is kind of vague

signature.png

The term natural is rather subjective in this case. Anyone could naturally get the skill to 99 of course. You would just never know if they were lying or not. I've gotten my woodcutting level to 91 'naturally' in this sense, but as most know this isn't near 99 at all.

yeah of course you can reach level 99 without trying. Just takes a loooooong time.

One of my friends is trying to get an untrimmed Summoning Cape; and to get her money, she does Woodcutting. I think shes at 98 now, not training it ever again.

But I can tell you for sure she never grinded that, only ever cutting a few mages for some shard money.

No, they got them because they were still special.

Uula.png

Pretty much all my skills are gotten just from playing, I don't grind for levels. I just play and achieve whatever I felt like achieving.

EDIT - Signature far exceeds our sig limits but since it's so colourful you can keep it.

Hitpoints, nuff said.

This was true for me.

Training controlled, using quite a bit of combat Magic, and a minimum of Cannon usage.

2dgucz6.png

I think the only way anyone ever got a 99 without really trying, would be fishing, woodcutting or hp.

Fishing - if thats how they made money in f2p (lobs, swordies) and mass farmed it to either sell to RWT'ers or for their own gain

Woodcutting - obviously to make money

HP - Slayer would make HP fly by.

boiling_tea.png

I think it happens in Attack, Strength and Defence quite a bit, as well as Hitpoints.

I know a lot of people in the high 90s for melee skills, not trying for 99 but rather just to train it and because of slayer and other reasons.

Although I'm sure if someone was close enough to a 99, (without really grinding away at that skill) would try a bit harder to get that 99.

I got 99 fletch and cook kinda on accident. Couldn't really be bothered to actually train, I just cooked the fish and fletched the logs I simply had. Also I didn't really grind for att, str, def, hp and slayer. I just like to slay so the 99's came naturally.

Also, I'm nearing 99 farming without grinding it. I just simply farm in between doing skills and that's kinda getting me 99.

good question...im sure its happened. people do skills for money and dont really check their level since theyre more focused on something else. obviously, some skills you cant inadvertently achieve 99 in, like fletching, fm, construction. you have to train them to 99, it doesnt come by just because you do it enough.

I enjoy the GOP alot, I could see myself in 3-10 years in the future getting 99 rc, just because I like the mini game. I think it would be the same for people crafting nats for gp, they're not looking for rc exp, just the cash.

99 strength and 99 attack maybe for me, PKing is the other aspect of runescape I really enjoy. Maybe 99 mage on my nub account.

Hitpoints for sure I never went after getting 99 in it. It just came with slayer and going for defence and attack. Nothing else though.
