Poor treasure trail rewards.

Featured Replies

I know you can get good stuff and that most of it is luck, but what I'm trying to say is that because of the big amount of junk which I think has a bigger probability to be a reward (firelighters, flatpacks, food, measly runes, rune dagger, etc) Clue Rewards are barely worth it anymore, in contrast to how it was before all those updates.

I have had a Robin Hood Hat as well, I have had Ranger boots as well, I have had God Trimmed armour as well, I have had a Black Cavalier as well, that's just not my point.

Flatpacks stopped being a reward a few months ago.

I only do lvl 3 clues now and only when Im bored, I use to do them all of them all the time.

The first time I got anything half decent was from a clue that ended in the wild a few years ago, then I got pk'ed by an Ancienter on the way back. It was only a few rune plates + legs but that was alot for a clue for me. -.-

But then the last clue I did had Zammy Platelegs & 2 Rune Platelegs with a magic shortbow and a black d'hide body! Best clue i've ever done!

*edit* done another clue and its back to the same old rubbish. Magic Short, Rune hatchet and some firelighters.

I just got a level 3 clue scroll from a cyclops at the warriors guild, and my reward ended up being: 12 Lobsters, 14 Purple sweet thingies, and rune battle axe. That is just plain bad.. I thought I would get a better reward...

'purple sweet thingies' are actually quite nice items which sell for a decent amount of money. Currently selling for 1,725 GP each on the GP.

Together with your battle axe you had a decent normal clue reward.

14 purple sweets:

24.150gp

Rune b-axe:

24.900gp

12 lobbies:

3.492gp

total:

52.542gp

That is quite a normal clue reward. Not a bad one.

Im reviving this dead thread to add some disappointment for readers in recent tt hunts.

Ive been grinding level 2s.

Starting to think that there is diminishing rewards, For 3 days every single clue gives addy cbow, 20-60 runes, coins.

The last 8 clues i had today ALL provided 3 different types of runes. (20-60)

My good rewards I got before this drout were Blue Boater, Pith Helmet, Red Headband, Addy H2 helm

All of those are only 100k. And now my rewards are amounting to 6k tops in runes. This is the worst streak ive ever had working with treasure trails.

Im hoping I get sweet revenge and get some ranger boots before i go crazy

I have a feeling that the upcoming update will make the rewards even worse...but thats just me. I insist on doing them anyways.

and the reason why so many complain about the rewards is that they sell it for gold...without saving up and putting any use in them.

(i.e sharks and purple sweets)

In the time I've gotten 85-91 slayer I've done over 140 lvl 3 clues I've gotten from tasks. In all those clues, I have yet to get a reward over 1m. Even less than 20 of them were over 350k.

99 HP, Attack, Strength, Defence, Summoning, Ranged, Herblore, Prayer, Agility, Magic, Slayer, Fletching, Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, and Thieving.

Jagex'd out of my untrimmed hp cape on 6/14/2011.

If they really want to jazz up Treasure Trails, they should (IMO):

(1) Make them rarer. You shouldn't get a clue twice or three times a slayer task, or even once. They should be a lot scarcer than they are now. Getting a clue should be a memorable event, not an expected entitlement. Now I don't mean as rare as Challenge scrolls... but certainly less commonplace than they are now.

(2) Remove the junk. When I say junk I mean firelighters.

PvP is not for me

ohhhh i cant wait till the trail update, with good rewards allways, no exseptions! (or at leasts thats whats it is advertised as)

but yea, as of now clues are a waste, sad though as i find them a bit of fun, yea im not very fast at them (idk my time, but i guess 30 to 40 mins) but i like doing them. non grinding money is allways a good thing for me... but now not only are the rewards worthless but it apears to be less likely to get anything good. maybe i have bad luck, idk.

in the end i like doing them but its just so agrivateing at the end and i get a fire lighter and a rune pic. and for me the pain of getting that over and over and over and over outweight the joy of getting a sara plate everyone once and a while.

I'm a Brony and proud of it!

pretty much horribleness all day

after my last reward of 2 addy full helmets and an addy cbow i got

bestrewardeverr.png

8 lobbies, 32 chaos runes, one really homo Live CD operating system

I used to hate clue scrolls because of always getting bad rewards, then a few months ago i got a robin hood hat, then ranger boots the next day.

The only clue scrolls I do are level 3's, and I always do them when I get them. Seems like a waste not to, as they don't take very long (20 minutes max if something goes horribly wrong) and it's basically free money. With that being said, I have a sneaky suspicion that Jagex are going to make clues a lot rarer when the TT update comes, as if they keep the rate at which one obtains clues the same, then the fact that you will always get a TT reward will have a major effect on the market. Unless, of course, Jagex's idea of a TT reward you always get is either something untradeable or something as useless as firelighters.

I just can't understand how ''TT specific item every time'' can be so misunderstood. It's unlikely the average prize of clues will get significantly higher, you are just have a 100% chance of receiving something only available from TT's, and considering there will be a whole load of new rewards, there is significant chance of receiving low value items.

Exactly.... I am sure most of these rewards will be useless anyway

I've had a LOT of crap clues. And then one time I open my box and see a 3rd age melee helm there. It was worth it.

Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks.

Any calculations or information to prove that it was actually worth it? sure, it's a nice drop and great spot of luck, but if you factor in the lost xp and money due to wasting your time running around the whole of runescape, was it really worth it? I doubt it was worth it in terms of efficiency, but likely in terms of fun and achievement. The fact that you are not guaranteed a 3rd age item if you do 10k clues is why they are just not worth doing.

... but they're fun to some people. Even if I get dejected from getting 2 rune daggers and 15 sharks, I always do the next one.

And I had a good streak a couple weeks ago in which I got 5 zammy pages, 1 sara helm and 1 rune (g) kite. But now I'm not running dry on TT items, but their values were pretty low, like trimmed plateskirts and guthix dhide chaps.

Anyway, this is just like any luck based thing, like boss hunting. People aren't guaranteed a hilt everytime they kill Kree, but they still go on countless trips, so why not do clues with the same mentality?

Staurolite.png

Armadyl makes around 2,5-3m an hour on average, clues make around 400-600k an hour, and clues don't give any xp. So yeah, with armadyl, even if you are unlucky for a a while, it will average out at some time, but with clues, even if you are extremely lucky at times, it will also average out at some time. Only way clues can be good if you are lucky all the time.

So far every clue has been under 50k for me for the past two months. last night, wasn't even worth 20k.

I hope this TT update fixes this [cabbage]tery.

I have always been a fan of Treasure Trails, but i have noticed the lack of value in recent rewards. For example today I got a Clue Scroll from an Iron Dragon and I had to do 3 puzzle boxes during it.

REWARD: Rune Dagger, 3 Black D'hide Bodies, and Rune hatchet.

Ultimate Fail.

I don't think I have ever got anything good ><

  • 2 weeks later...

Since the update i've done 6 level 3 clues:

1. 67 sara arrows

2. 62 guthix arrows

3. 15 sweets

4. more sweets

5. heraldic skirt

6. 2 composite bows

:wall:

My clues drop rate was also almost insulting,233 spectators & 200 abbys with no clue...never had that before... :(

I do all clues because I find them fun, and the chance of something good keeps me going

Screw efficiency, it's fun (not like I need money anyways  )

Level 2:

90 airs

92 mind

70 fire

20 fetch casket scrolls

-----

Total: 9,670 gp

You make it sound like running through a few level 87 monsters is hard which it really shouldn't be at your level.
