Leoo
Not sure if there is a topic like this already, oh well. Today I was training Agility and I got bored of the Ape Atoll course. I was remembering the time I was training at the Agility Areana. It's slower but more enjoyable (in my opinion). However, I just remained training at the Ape Atoll course as I wanted to train fast. What do you seem to do? Do you choose your method of training because it's the fastest or what you enjoy the most, even if its slower to train. 3PointMan
I usually go by duration, depending on the skill. Most skills (such as Agility, Smithing, Thieving, and Fletching) go by duration. Skills like Farming, Woodcutting and Hunter, I go by enjoyment. It just depends on the skills :D http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/tt206/samtheninja/Tags/FEARLESStag.jpg http://i787.photobucket.com/albums/yy156/song4thedeaf/stuff.png what i'm doing now: https://linktr.ee/student1
Inuashakent
You mean efficiency vs fun? I just use whichever method I feel like, but I try to stay as efficient as I can. [Summoning guide (AOW)] [Slayer guide] [Melee & Brawl player]
Leoo
You mean efficiency vs fun? I just use whichever method I feel like, but I try to stay as efficient as I can. Could say that. However, if you are going to be training by the fastest method and you don't like it, then it isn't very efficient in all areas.
l0rd
Mirrorforced's article in the June 28th Tip.it Times discusses this very trend. Find it here As for me, before I quit I would play in both styles. Often I just wanted to get a goal and have it over with, the reward of achieving it compensated for my time having not as much fun as just 'lax' skilling. peterbluer
I'm F2P... the enjoyable ways to make experience are about 5k/hour, and the fast ways are around 30K/hour.
cabbage_ownz
i usually go with duration as i find something fun when the xp comes in faster and the levls come in faster \ only time i dont use the most efficent method is when it is mind numbingly boring or im lossing obsurd amounts of money doing it. dk drops- 35 x dragon hatchet 35 x berserker ring 37 x warrior ringDragon drops- 4x left half 2 x med helm 4x skirt 2 x legs 4x shard 9 x clawsBandos drops-6x Tassets 2x boots 4x chestplate 1x hilt[/color]

viralaether
generally duration or cost effective, however this does not always hold true for example, i love going to abbys for combat training [hide=drops]10 black masks, 39 dragon boots, 21 whip, 9 dark bow, 7 dragon legs, 8 mauls, 3 dragon left half, 2 dragon spear, 2 hexcrest, 1 kbd heads, 10 dragon med, 2 R ammy, 2 granite legs, 1 bandos boots , 1 bandos hilt , 1 bandos chestplate, 1 saradomin sword(ls), 2 dragon claws(ls)(solo)[/hide][hide=Viralaether's guide to Mac use]1) take your mac2) drop it off your roof3) ??????4) Profit![/hide]1/7/9 quest cape ||| 5/6/9 all diaries ||| 7/14/9 300 rank MA ||| 4998th to 99 summoning on 2/27/
Kilo
Ape atoll is more enjoyable in the guild world for it, and I did that instead of doresh. 8-) Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.Oscar Wilde
The Observer
I tend to do more enjoyable tasks more than tasks with less duration. You see, I do prefer the Agility Arena as well compared to agility courses.
Blingkachi50
Depends on which skill it is. Mining. I hate granite mining, but I love just casual mining (mining and banking it). Wcing is really all the same, so I'd be going for the fastest method possible. [blingkachi50]

Great_one
i find that sometimes getting super fast exp itself is the enjoyable part
Low C
Enjoyment. I fished monkfish and some sharks on my way to 15m fishing xp. I dont think I did even 1m xp in anything else other than when I was 1-62 fishing. But for some things I go with fast xp like firemaking, I burn eucs. Or prayer I use gilded altar with Dragon bones. Obtaurian
Depends on the skill, as others have said. For Slayer, my favorite skill, I go for max efficiency and speed because that's fun for me. For mining, another favorite skill, I tend to relax and just do gold mining or I hang out in the Grand Tree mine with superheat runes. For hunter I love Puro Puro. Cooking and mining are the only two skills that I absolutely refuse to train efficiently. I enjoy making pies, damn it. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off. Funny, its these things that slow down my mage training.Yea I want to train at mta for ice barrage and veng to help my melee out,but dammit I love bolting blues n'farcasting at cwffa.:P
Ravenkana
The real question is how you can enjoy the Agility Arena, AKA Hell's boot camp? For me it's a little of both, but usually leaning more heavily on enjoyment. If the CORPORAL beast is this hard, imagine how hard a GENERAL or COLONEL beast would be. a corporal is not even an admirable rank in armies that use that ranking system. Yeah, it is a pking minigame, so any arguments anybody makes will probably be biased. The best way this will end :Everybody just says,"I'm not arguing with you anymore, goodbye."The worst way this will end: I don't really know, psychological warfare? Worldwide thermonuclear war? Pie eating contest?
jimv
Depends on what skill category for myself. Since I do 95% of my own work and don't buy levels, if there is a cost effective way then I usually go with it. Unless the cost effective way is going to take years as opposed to months. Ex: I could mine all the ores to make nails and collect the regular plank spawns to train construction, but I am not going to do that. For agility I go with the fastest points, as I don't intend to train it after 99 unless I max out almost everything else. Magicplayak you only have 10 more levels for a new agility course. Zantareous
Duration/efficiency, then I have more time to enjoy the better things :P For some skills, I try to find a middle-grounds though, and train like that.
sandycat0
i almost always do more enjoyable methods, except if its a skill that i detest or if i need a level for a quest (example: Firemaking ;)) I doubt that ive trained more than 1k of my agility on anything other than the agility arena. but its really up to you, if its more fun to have higher levels then do efficiency RIP Chuck Schuldiner
Lets_3ekout
I pretty much always do things efficiently. When I do it the fun, slow way I always get this bad feeling in my stomach of wasting my time (suppose that's happening anyway since I'm playing RS  ). Although lately slayer is all I do, and there's no way to train slayer that isn't fun  A Draconic Guide V1.4, Fimer - Multi-Timer Farming Timer V3.Dragon Boots: 39|Abyssal Whips: 16|Dark Bows: 1|

Although lately slayer is all I do, and there's no way to train slayer that isn't fun  Hah, same! Sometimes when I try to do the fun method it becomes extremely inefficient because I get too bothered with the inefficiency and then I have to go all the way back to the bank and regroup to go to the efficient place #-o Combat 116+; Total 1900+; All Hard Tasks; (Nearly) All quest points; (Nearly) All skills 60+; An aquatic moose ninja.Currently: Using 63 hunter to get some of those "Chins", then I'm going to range stuff down. Interruptions of agility when I feel like it, as well. And lucky enough to get 4 Dragon and 6 Barrow Drops.[hide]Kwimbob now looks exactly like me in real life except for hair color. Yes, this means I look exactly like the protagonist of that certain anime that my second character, Faye_V is also named after. Yes, I bought a jacket that also looks like his. No in real life I don't have a slain bear to sling over my shoulders. Yes, I'm that skinny even if I no-life it for years in basements. No, I can't shoot a gun. Yes, I can win any other strategic video game you have never played - because I probably have, ahahaha. And yes, I also have brown eyes, yet one of my eyes looks different from the other. And yes, I'm completely oblivious to the [real] world around me as I constantly engineer new solutions to daily problems in my head. When I get hungry, all that isn't food can wait. When I'm sleepy - nothing is of any priority in front of sleep. But at any other time, I never slow down. Never give up. Never Surrender.
