Lenin64
So I'm at Virginia Tech as a cadet. Being a freshman sucks. So many things the Corps doesn't let us do, or we have to do. But academically we're really set up for success. Command the Murderous Chalices! But when you get an ROTC scholarship, that doesn't really matter anyways :P I'm really regretting not doing better earlier in high school. I didn't do a bad job, but I was just average. GPA freshman year was 3.3, sophomore year brought it down to 3.2. I actually did really well last year, but it only managed to bring it up to 3.5 :\ Thankfully, my GPA at the community college I'm dual-enrolled with is a 4.0

I don't like this feeling. I know I should be partying harder since I know I won't be able to until Christmas but something inside me wants me to 'prepare' for the semester and I've become more boring. Which makes the wait even worse, ahhh!!

Adam007
Summers almost gone. Back to school again. :(It'll be a fun first month at the University of Michigan, but I'm coming up on my senior year and the class load is just getting cumbersome. I don't want it to end because I have so many friends up in Ann Arbor, but at the same time applying to med schools right now I'm getting kind of ready to move on. Two more semesters until I get my B.S. in Neuroscience and hopefully I get accepted into a med school soon. I'm still working on applications but have one interview scheduled so far at LECOM. Dupin
I need some advice. I'm thinking about dropping Spanish next year because of a scheduling conflict. This would leave me with only three years of foreign language. I'm aiming to get into a decent liberal arts college (I don't know which). My GPA isn't great because I've been slacking, but I plan on bringing it up. The problem is that not having four years of foreign language could prevent me from getting into many colleges. I went on collegeboard.com and found that the average recommendation was three years, while many did say four, but it was all "recomendations". I don't want to end up in a situation where this decision limits the colleges I can apply to. So my question is for anyone/everyone who knows about applying to American colleges. Would losing a year of foreign language be a bad decision? If a college recommends four years, and I only have three, will that prevent me from getting in, or is it only a guideline? If a college recommends four years, and I only have three, will that prevent me from getting in, or is it only a guideline?Well I only took three years of foreign languages and I do not feel that it negatively affected me. Honestly I'm sure it depends on what college(s) you are interested in and how you meet their requirements in other areas. When I applied for colleges, I honestly can't remember actually finding a college that REQUIRED four years of foreign language. If there are any, I'm sure they're like top of the line schools and given the little information that you stated, you probably wouldn't get into those schools anyway (with a GPA that "isn't great"). I wouldn't worry about it. As for whether or not it's a guideline or a requirement, it should be stated on the college's website. As I said, none of the colleges that I looked at required four years of foreign language. But if you're really concerned, I would recommend speaking to an academic advisor or a college counselor if you have either available to you. ----------------------- On a personal note, I still have a while of summer left :) I move in to my college dorm (I have a single this year - woo!) on 18 September. And classes start probably like 3 days after that. For college it wouldn't really matter, nor in real life. Ever heard someone say "oh yea "insert spanish complicated phrase" man, I learned that in highschool and stil remember, 2 years later!" Nope. So few people remember their foreign languages past a year after they stop taking them. And colleges don't tend to care, just make sure to do well in the ones you take in college.
