Has anyone tried testing to see if using the spec bar leech works with npcs? and if so, does using that prayer and assuming you get at least 5 prayer points per sgs spec result in a net gain of prayer points? I'm going to assume no, but maybe.

Sure, it's usually dumb that people complain, but I'd think that anyone who is even the least bit familiar with this game would've realized by now that that's all that many people are capable of: complaining.

Especially with a very useful high-level content update there will be floods of complaints.

 

Ah well. At least this update gives me insentive to use all of those bones I've been hoarding.

Appears most of these prayers are 'useless' for PvM. The only one that might be worth using for things is Turmoil, for other's just use the normal 15% prayers or piety.

 

The deflect prayers are good however not worth losing 10-5% attack boost for (for the normal boosting prayers).

 

Oh, Turmoil is useless against bosses as it can't be used alongside the reflect prayers. :unsure:

You know, I'm getting the impression that you immediately dump on everyone who has an opinion which differs from yours. If you'd actually read the entire thread, there are legitimate concerns about how seriously this prayer update may unbalance the combat triangle further.

 

There's still a lot of questions about how exactly these new prayers work, and possibly unwanted or unexpected side effects which could occur.

Hardly. I am referencing those who are whining because they don't have the levels/patience to get d bones/cash/etc and so they whine. Sarcasm, as you can see, is a powerful tool.

 

Oh wait, you only have 70 prayer, but 94 mage. You have a vested interest in opposing this update. Not saying you do, but it is fairly easy normally to look at people's stats and see why they would want to oppose something. Normally, it is because it makes the game harder for them.

How did know that I have no level or patience to get the dragon bones and cash that I so desperately crave? This man, ladies and gentlemen, has the ability to peer into people's souls and see their inner heart!

 

On a more serious note, of course I'm not pleased that this update could weaken Magic as a skill. I'm sure that a lot of the players who are posting "Great update!" and "Way to go Jagex!" are doing so because it will improve gameplay for them in one way or another. Yet that doesn't mean there shouldn't be a rational discussion about how this major new piece of content will affect Runescape, both positively and negatively.

Full Disclosure: I had 60 prayer up until a week ago, and I've got 99 magic in burst runes banked. Obviously, my stats and future intentions should disqualify me from having a stake in the discussion of this update. :rolleyes:

Great update. The quest was by far one of the best in a long time, and that new fortress seems to hold quite a bit of potential for Metal dragon tasks. Any word on all of the levels of the building, and the possibility of a new Waterfiends area? I only stuck around long enough to do the quest so I can continue Bursting Rock Lobsters.

 

The only disappointment is that they're pushing that font at us. Some things in Runescape simply need to stay the same, we'll let you mess with the interface, but please leave the font alone! :thumbdown:

Well, after completing the quest, I geared up and ran over to do my favourite sport; killing metal dragons. I use Protect melee + Piety normally so I was a litle excited to see if the curse prayers worked as good. I selected a new set of prayers; Deflect melee + Turmoil and started killing irons and steel. At first I thought that it was no difference, but after awhile I noticed that the prayer drained slower then normal plus I every now and then manage to recoil hits back to the dragon (+1 to +8; they do have high defence though). Usually when I sell my bones (I send bones to bank via my Pack Yak) I have managed to kill between 180 - 195 dragons, but today I had killed 233 in one trip. I must say I think this new prayer shows promise =)

 

Also, I do keep my new prayer even if I recharge at an altar; I get a choise "want to revert back to normal prayers or stay on cursed?".

I just hate the new reflect prayers.

 

Having both higher defence and higher damage to your opponent seems to be a bit unbalanced(mostly in pvp).

 

Also, they sound useful against Jad.

Quest is good, but I think they should've made it less obvious about which runes you should take. Would of made a good puzzle to have to figure it out yourself.

Doubtful since this isn't really part 4.

 

They've dubbed it the mystery of the mahjaratt series now its all coming together; but this is by no means the start of a story.

Nope only those quest have come out since they gave the story line a title.

 

Jagex have stated Mysteries of the Mahjaratt is the universal story of the mahjaratt and that some of the quests added to the series (eg starting with tale of muspah) would be fairly easy compared to older ones so that ALL players can access the story in some form or another.

 

The Mysteries of the Mahjaratt storyline is about ALL the mahjaratt and includes EVERY quest that the mahjaratt are in as they are all building to 1 final conclusion.

 

The whole purpose of Ali the Wise is to remind players of waaayyyy old mahjaratt story parts as he collects and correlates all the mahjaratt info.

One question: Does Warth at lvl 89 from new prayer book is the same as Retribution at lvl 46 from the regular pray book?

(Like the same connection of Protect Item (25 reg pray book) = Protect Item (50 curses pray book))

 

If so, does Jagex take those 2 prayers, as long with protection prayers, to be considered enough important to keep them or variations of them in the new pray book, so players will more stick to the new one? After all they tried to minimal the cost of changing spellbooks in the past (teletabs, switch spell book for 1 cast etc.)

I tried using Deflects+Lower Magic at TD's. The kills were definately faster; it seems 20% defence is quite major.

 

I then promptly died after Java and/or Mozilla decided now was a good time to fail. Got freaking massive lag, had to restart Mozilla like 5 times. lost 5m. First time ever losing something (other than the destructables, like EE) at TD's :wall: :wall: :wall:

 

After that, I decided to go for some easier boss-cash and tanked at Bandos with the new prayers. It was insane. Their specs almost never missed, and Graar went down way faster (I timed it, 10 kills with, 10 kills without, about 10 seconds less time with sap range). 10% defence (20% is given time) seems to be quite a helper. The new prayers have some serious uses with PvM, especially with bosses and their defence (leech would be better, of course). I don't PvP, so I hardly care.
