Firecape V.S Skill Capes (t)

Featured Replies

I woudl definetly show off with my fire cape if i had 45 defence and 95 cb. skillcapes are really easy to get they just take time, firecapes require skill. and showing that skill with your def/cb is just magnificent=]

Firecape wins for both looks and stats. If you have a low combat then it comes with a lot of respect too.

If you're looking for stats, wear your firecape. If you're going for style, wear your skillcape.

Or if your lookign for prayer wear the SW cape. :P

I would never wear a skill cape to combat. I'll wear them for looks though.

This. It's so totally outclassed by the Soul Wars cape that it probably needs a buff in defensive stats (a major one, to +20 to all or something) to make it even close to viable again.

I piety the fool.

If you're training, I'd fire cape for almost anything. The one possible exception would be if you were praying (and recharging through pots), at which point you might want to use a SW cape instead.

If you're in real PvP, I probably wouldn't fire cape just because it eats up time to replace it. I would probably SW cape, with a trimmed skill cape if you haven't got a SW cape (I know I'm lazy and haven't done the quest). In non-loss PvP, fire cape.

Skilling/hanging around I would favor the skill cape, a spottier cape, or the Ard3 cape (because I like having the extra teleport handy). Personally, I wear an Ard3 cape with agile armor, a glory, a exp3/lum3 ring, and k3/shilo gloves when not doing anything involving combat. I don't carry weapons outside of combat in case I see an imp plus many activities are better if you keep your hands free (such as to equip a pick instead of keeping it invo, etc).

I would much rather show off a skill cape than a fire cape. Unless your a lv 60 with a firecape, if your level 120 I would much rather see a skill cape, that speaks out to me that you are a dedicated player and you put a lot of time and effort into earning that right to wear that cape.

No, it just means you no-lifed for 20-30 hours.

Getting a 99=No-life

Firecape=Skill

Dungeoneering isn't a skill.

thats stupid,

i've owned a firecape and have several skill capes.

Yes firecape takes alot of skill and arguably luck to obtain, well done

But how on earth is getting a 99 no lifing, i mean you could play 30 minutes a day and still get a 99 skill in the end, if you see somebody with a rc cape you can instantly conclude that the player has played for a long time, however you cannot say how long they play per day. that is ridiculous.

Anyway my oppinion is skill capes are awwsomeerrr :D they take dedication and patience to obtain (in most cases) and look good. But fire capes are great aswell :P

Firecape wins, it looks awesome (lava thingy ftw ) and the stats are better than a skillcape as well.

I can't really talk about this, because I own no skillcape or firecape. But just based on stats and looks the firecape wins. If I had a really admirable skillcape, slayer for example, then I'd wear that though.

I will mainly use hunter during skilling, but i wear it when in combat too. but otherwise i wear my range cape for combat. I do not have a fire cape (i should have one by now tbh) but even if i did i would only wear it to clan wars/slaying tasks.

Plus i'm sorry to all the Fire Cape lovers.. but ... The fire cape looks like crap. =/ sorry but its true. The animation is cool and all but its can be better animated and better shaped. I mean, who on earth decided to shape the cape like that. looks so bad...

Fire cape all the way TBH, looks good and has amazing stats i only own three of my 99 capes, range, mage and defence lols.

For all kinds of fighting purposes I wear my fire cape. If I need to pray, then its my red soul wars cape. For looks it depends - sometimes fire cape and sometimes soul wars cape.

The uniqueness of skill capes wore off ages ago IMO, so I hardly ever wear them.

Soul wars cape> Fire cape> skill cape

Showing off is great but the +12 prayer from the Soul wars cape is too good to pass up. Fire cape only gives +2 prayer which is better than using a skill cape because it gives +4 strength, but I'd much rather get another 10 prayer than +4 strength. Prayer is used in every combat situation and soul split, turmoil and deflect prayers drain a lot :)

2146 overall - 136 combat - 6 skillcapes

Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks.

Everyone has a fire/skill cape. I'd rather use sw or ardy cape, which are much more practical.

I run around in my green shirt and shorts when i don't need to be wearing anything (capes included)

for me the only real desicion of what cape to wear comes in the selection of what skillcape to wear (when the skillcape is most effective, if any such situations still exist in p2p). Then i choose my prayer cape.

the other real desicion is when i do things on f2p, when i'll be wearing my clan's teamcape, or the same prayer cape.

I rather have my trimmed slayer cape over my Fire cape.

It takes alot of months to get 99 slayer and you need a very good combat level to get it too.

But for Fire cape. You just need a good prayer and range level, good internet connection, and good reflexes.

The little differance in stats that fire cape gives can't beat the slayer cape.

So imo.

Some skillcapes > Fire cape.

I wear my Defence (t) or Hitpoints (t) cape everywere as I don';t have a firecape..

If I did have one, would only use it for say Ice strykes.

I don't know which mod did this. I don't know why they did it. If they're looking for money, I can tell them I don't have any as I'm a student. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over 4 years of RuneScape. Skills that I have worked hard for and people like them can't take them away. If they give me my particles back now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for them, I will not pursue them. But if they don't, I will look for them, I will find them, and they won't like what'll happen

Personally, I don't have any 99's or a fire cape, butid wear a skill cape over any other cape ever, except if I was killing Corp; obviously it'd be fire cape. Regardless of if the "uniquenes" of skill capes has worn off, you still got the 99. So what if it's an easy buyable one. Show it off ;)

Credits to Zokot for the sig.

I always wear my Fire Cape when in non risky combat such as Slayer. I will always wear a Skill Cape such as my Farming or Slayer cape when doing risky combat like solo GWD or when skilling. When skilling, my skillcape will be accompanied by one of my Phats. I don't PVP, but if I did, I would wear a skill cape. The 138 or 126+12 above my head would give away the fact that I have maxed combat anyway, but if I wanted to hide a combat 99, I would use a non combat cape like Fletching or Farming.

Solo GWD Drops:

5 Bandos Plates, 4 Bandos Boots, 3 Bandos Hilts, 2 Arma Helms, Arma Skirt, Arma Plate, 3 Arma Hilts, 4 Zammy Spears, Steam Staff, 15 Sara Swords, 6 Sara Hilts, 29 Shards.

hmmm....probably skill cape depending on the skill (if it is a difficult skill to obtain 99 in).

Stupid thread. Capes are situational. A fire cape and a skill cape are not the be-all end-all of capes.

To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.

Soul wars cape is the best outside of corp or some ffa.
