This thread is run in conjunction with one i have on RSOF.

If you think this thread is not appropriate for general discussion and should be moved to questionnaires then so be it. But i think it can stay here because there is alot of discussion value in this topic.

I want your opinions on the rarest rares!

You do not have to answer all or any surveys when you post.

Information on the backround of each rare can be found further down. Credit to runescape.wikia.com.

How to answer the surveys!

A group of rares will be listed. This is an example of two rares

Easter egg: (put rank here e.g 2)

Pumpkin: (put rank here e.g 1)

Scoring.

You give the rarest rare a 1 and the second rarest a 2 ( also known as descending order). Rares will have it's own score, if there are 3 rares in the group the one you rank with a 1 will recieve 3 points and the one you rank with 2 recieves etc.

My thoughts at the beginning of the thread before hearing other opinions.

Survey number 1: Rarest non-wearables (higher).

Cracker:2

Half wine:1

Comment: I think half-wines are alot rarer, who would of thought to keep it, let alone have it sitting around in their bank wasting bank space prior to the update.

Survey number 2: Rarest non-wearables (lower).

Disk:2

Pumpkin:1

Easter:3

Comment: I think that the disk is really rare, i am considering actually placing it above the pumpkin.

Survey number 3: Rarest partyhats.

Blue partyhat:1

White partyhat: 2

Red partyhat:3

Yellow partyhat:5

Green partyhat:4

Purple partyhat:6

Comment: The green partyhat in my opinion is rare than the yellow but demand for the *golden crown* makes it price higher.

Survey number 4: Rarest lower wearables

Red h'ween mask:1

Blue h'ween mask:2

Green h'ween mask:3

Santa:4

Comment: In my opinion santa's are clearly more common than mask's

Survey number 5: A mixture.

Blue partyhat:5

Cracker:2

Wine:1

Pumpkin:3

Disk:4

Comment: I think the disk and pumpkin are alot rarer than the blue partyhat, i think there are more partyhats out there then you think.

Backround information on all partyhats

[hide]

--------------------Blue partyhats--------------------

Blue partyhats are discontinued holiday items that players obtained by opening Christmas crackers that were dropped as part of the 2001 Christmas event.

--------------------White partyhats--------------------

White partyhats were available on Christmas 2001 as a holiday present. They were retrieved when one player "used" a Christmas cracker with another player. One of the two participants received a random gift and the other received a partyhat.

--------------------Green partyhats--------------------

Green partyhats come from opening Christmas crackers, which were obtained in the 2001 Christmas event. The green partyhats was the most expensive item lost during the world 111 Glitch that allowed a certain player to kill other players in a safe zone.

--------------------Red partyhats--------------------

Red partyhats come from opening Christmas crackers that appeared in the Christmas 2001 holiday event. All of the Party Room staff wear red partyhats. A long time ago in RuneScape Classic, the Fancy Clothes Store in Varrock's south-east area stocked a red partyhat; but there was just a place holder for it (at 0 stock) which was never filled. Players waited for hours and hours to see if it would spawn, but it never did and was later removed due to the frustration of some players' time being wasted. The red partyhat was also sometimes mistaken for the infamous black partyhat (which never existed) when players had their brightness turned down is runescape classic.

--------------------Yellow partyhat--------------------

Yellow partyhats come from opening Christmas crackers from the 2001 Christmas event. Many players kept them when they were dropped because it makes a player looks like they are a King/Queen due to the goldish colour and the crown shape.

--------------------Purple partyhat--------------------

The Purple partyhat comes from opening a Christmas cracker from the 2001 Christmas event. The purple partyhat was originally the most expensive of the partyhats, but became the cheapest after the partyhat duplication glitch. In RuneScape Classic, partyhats were simply called "Party Hat" with no colour in their name. What is now the purple partyhat was more pink in colour, so players assumed that this partyhat was pink. After the release of RuneScape 2, Jagex made a slight colour change to the "pink" Party Hat, and then named it purple partyhat.

Backround information on all non-wearables

[hide]

--------------------Christmas cracker--------------------

A Christmas cracker is a holiday item that was dropped during the 2001 Christmas event on 25 December 2001, the first RuneScape Christmas event. Inside a Christmas cracker is a party hat and one other item or a stack of items, such as some coins, runes, or runite armour. To open it, it must be used with another player. Upon opening, the player who had the cracker gets a random coloured party hat, and the other player gets the other item. It used to be random which player would get the partyhat, but Mod Ash has confirmed that this was changed to the player with the cracker always gets the hat to prevent a possible method of real world trading.

When these crackers were dropped, the original colour was red, and has since changed to white.

--------------------Easter egg--------------------

Easter eggs were dropped during the 2002 Easter event on the 20 April 2002. They are edible and they heal 12 hitpoints when consumed. Players should withdraw them from banks only in noted form to avoid accidentally eating them. Alot of easter egss were obtained by players, but also alot eaten because a 12hp heal was good at the time. Therefore easter eggs are stil extremely rare.

--------------------Pumpkin--------------------

Pumpkins were the first holiday items that were dropped by Jagex on Halloween of 31 October, 2001 during the 2001 Halloween Event. They heal a total of 14 hitpoints. AS with the easter egg alot got eaten making the pumpkin extremely rare.

--------------------Disk of returning--------------------

The Disk of returning was used to let players exit the Black Hole in RuneScape Classic. At the time a non-player character called Thordur sold them for 10 coins. This item is the oldest rare or discontinued item in the game beating out the pumpkin as this disk was created back in July 2001.

People that were banned were put into a hole and trapped there until their ban was over. A lot of people got themselves banned just to see the hole, so Jagex made a mock hole and created a disk to let players out once they went in. These disks cannot teleport players in or out of the Black Hole as the Black Hole no longer exists.

It was removed because a lot of banned people convinced some people who were visiting the black hole to drop their disks, because something "cool" would happen. This was a scam that would trap those players in the black hole and trap the victim, forcing Jagex to assist the player out. Throw-away accounts were also made by banned people, with the sole purpose of buying a disk of returning, drop trading it to the banned person, and then allowing them to escape. This ended with Jagex having to rescue the lot of people who fell for this scam, and so Jagex removed The Black Hole along with the disk shop.

--------------------Half wine--------------------

A Half full wine jug was once obtained by drinking once from a jug of wine. Later, via update, it was changed so that a jug of wine was consumed in one drink. One half-full wine jug heals 7 Hitpoints when drunk. Players who brought half-full wine jugs from RuneScape Classic soon found they became a discontinued item and would sell for a massive sum to other players. Soon they became a rarity, and prices began to skyrocket.

Originally, in RuneScape Classic, a Half full wine jug spawned on the table in the Chaos Temple. It was later replaced by the Wine of Zamorak.

Backround information on masks and the santa

[hide]

--------------------Santa hat--------------------

A Santa hat is an item of clothing that was the last tradeable holiday drop, as part of the 2002 Christmas event. They were dropped only on 25 December 2002. All day they appeared randomly on the ground all over RuneScape, in batches about every six minutes. A player could pick up as many as they wanted. They are clearly the most common rare due to the large amount of players playing (in relative to previous events) and how easily they were obtained.

They give no statistic bonuses on the main game, although they give +3 Magic on RuneScape Classic.

Red fezzes are often mistaken for Santa hats, although changes to the trading system made scamming other players because of this similarity impossible.

--------------------H'ween masks--------------------

A Halloween mask is a holiday item that was introduced on 31 October 2002 as part of the 2002 Hallowe'en event. The Halloween mask comes in three colours: green, blue, and red.

Historically, the Green halloween mask has been the least expensive of the set. The Red halloween mask is the most expensive in recent history, although at times the Blue halloween mask is more expensive.

At one time the price of the Red Halloween mask surpassed that of the Red party hat. This happened approximately 1 month after the Halloween masks were released.

I assume the OP is only referring to discontinued items as appose to just rare items in general. As discussed before it is probably some obscure quest/skill item very few people actually hold onto. Yet, most useless items are still kept for junk value.

When I think about rares, I think about how many hands they've been passed through.

I also think it'd be super interesting to see the exact numbers of these rares remaining in the game (perhaps Jagex knows this number?). I'd like to know how many Christmas Crackers are still in RS.

I think the Warship on RS2 accounts is the rarest of all the rares. It isn't tradeable, though.

That was my thought entering this thread too it's by far the rarest item in RS2

I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the shield that guards the realms of men. Are training weapons still rare? If I'm not mistaken they (or at least then shield) were taken out of the game, and remained with the incredibly few players who kept it. Of course these players were mostly very low level accounts since high levels would never need a training shield. I'm interested to see how many people have it compared to things like warships.

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

Updated results, it's becoming clear that people think yellow is more common and green is rarer that their street prices suggest. The disk and pumpkin are very close and so is the cracker and the wine.

What's a warship? It doesn't come up in my search of the Tip.it items database.

Also, don't let the different prices of party hats fool you. The quantity of each should be pretty similar. People just like more popular colors better, like blue, so the price of those are higher.
