I got 350 spikes... I heard they're 20k each ish. But how can I amass that much junk? I've been buying eye of newt packs, but those are horribly slow.

I have all the 99s, and have been playing since 2001. Comped 4/30/15

20k each? Um, no, street price is more in 3-4k ratio. Anyways, as for junk, buy vial packs too. They are unsellable/buyable on ge, so they might as well be junk. Otherwise, you could fletch for sake of fletching, I suppose.

Sell the santa's. they have the least street "credit"

Thanks. Hmmm historically (from what I recall, I could be wrong) Santas rise right before Christmas and then fall afterwards.

Sometimes. Now that everybody thinks about this, it doesn't always come true. Santas have risen a lot lately. I've been gradually "selling into the rally." They might go up more before Christmas, but I decided to cash in a little early. Just have a few more left.

Back in the day when santas were actually cheep enough for a large number of players to buy there was actual demand around Christmas. Now, alot of the santas seem to be traded from merchant to merchant (yes there are still alot sold to real players who want it for the sake of a hat). The pro merchants buy up large numbers of santas durring the summer and wait it out until the noob merchants start buying them around the beggining of December. These noob merchants plan to hold until Christmas then dump, but the pros beat them to it.

I am speaking from experience, I was a noob merchant last christmas (lost ~15M which was 20% my bank). I planned on dumping 4 days before Christmas, appearantly the pros decided 5 days before to dump....

Like anything I say in this topic, I am not an expert so you shouldn't take anything I say as pure fact. I simply speak from experience and hopefully others can learn from my loss.

Can anyone with some insight on the 3rd age market tell me how 3rd age magic top is doing? Im thinking about buying one as its always been a goal item of mine to own and I have the spare cash.

Every year it's the same. People think Santa's will rise at Christmas. They do the opposite and crash, because of the overwhelming expectation from stupid merchants who can't think back twelve months.

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

Do people think that the partyhats can last until a week or two before Christmas? Because I just had a thought. Perhaps the clan that owns the majority of them will hold them until the inevitable pre-Christmas santa hat crash. Then they sell their partyhats and buy up the cheep santa hats. That way they a) can use thier GP on something so they don't have to worry about the 2.1B cap and b ) buy out another discontinued item. Just a thought that came to me, it's late and I have studied my intelligence away so, if you see flaws in this, please poke holes all over it.

Well they're going through the roof right now. Don't know whether I've ever seen them this high.

Sorry for the double post, but here's a possible flaw -- are then ten times as many santas as partyhats?

They are also 10 times cheaper, almost.

Yes, definitely. When p hats were released, no one expected how expensive they were going to be. So they just toyed around with them and didn't care a whole lot and easily lost them. But when santas were released, p hats were a good example of what would happen with them so people hoarded them, expecting to make a quick buck. Besides that, there were a lot more players when santas were released then when phats were released.

When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done.

Which is why he asked if there were 10x as many. Because they are 10x cheeper they would have to buy 10x as many.

This was taken from Duke Freedom's Article on rare items from then Tipit Times Archive. The numbers are from 2006, but the same ratios should exist as not too many rares 'leave' the game.

500 party hats sets

2500 mask sets

15000 santa hats

200 crackers

200 half wines

1250 disks

2000 pumpkins

3500 easter eggs

These numbers suggest to me that it would be hard for santas and masks to absorb a major partyhat dump. At this point, I think that a major partyhat dump is practicable only with an accompanying money sink.

That is such a stupid estimate...no one should even pretend like they know how many of each item are in game. I know people with several hundred partyhats to themselves...

Sleep on...fly on.

In your mind, you can fly.

If anyone could have a reasonable estimate it would have been Duke Freedom. Of course he didn't pretend he knew how much there was in game. He just gave an estimate, and like I said, if anyone could have a good estimate, it was him.

I feel stupid selling my santa's for 30.5m now. Well yeah, made a nice 4m profit each on them.

They went up 1.5m by the way. Couldn't help thinking about how Chessy just "made" 1.5B in one GE update.

It's not Christmas yet. They'll crash. They might even crash within the next week, because they have already risen so much. Then go back up slightly, then at Christmas crash again.

If you have a Santa, sell it very soon.

What's the price on mint cakes? You can get them for free by giving an npc scrambled toad legs. I'm just wondering why are they even at such a high price =/

I'd stay clear of them. You can only get one from the particular quest. Any further mint cakes come from that gnome delivery mini game as a reward.
