12-Apr-2010 - Dungeoneering Skill!

Uhm... this might be my new-found WoW nerdyness, but isnt this a lot like instancing in World of Warcraft?

And I'm just wondering, No Calling me a troll pl0x

Similar..yes. Think of it as a 5 men dungeon where you have to get the majority of your armor/weapons/pots/food on the go. Mix some Runescape style puzzle solving and boss mechanics and you get dungeoneering. So really, apart this from an instanced dungeon with teamwork, is pretty different.

There is a much better way to implement this. Say, you want the coal bag. We have a coal-eating behemoth as a boss. You kill, the carcass remains on the ground. You harvest either a thick or thin behemoth hide from it. The carcass disappears when every member of the team harvest once. The bag takes 30 thick hides, 20 thin hides (or basically a number such that you have about enough hide by the time you have enough dungeoneering EXP for the next boss), and level 30 crafting to craft, for 10k crafting EXP. The bag's non-tradeable.

So basically everytime you kill a boss you get a piece of the equipment? Like if the godsword takes 100 pieces in total to make, and everytime you kill a boss you can get one piece? Not a bad idea, it is different and more realistic, but I think this is more of an annoyance.

PS: Also because you do not get the same boss everytime, there is still luck involved.

My current problem with it however is that it is more suited to a mini game than an entire skill. This is mainly because there is a single location in which you have to train it. If in future they bring out further dungeons across runescape then i would retract this comment, but for now it seems too focused on one location.

Shall I mention Construction again (nothing against your opinion I just found it interesting that no one actually thinks of construction when they mention the "only 1 place to train" thing)

Also, what is your Dungeoneering level? Someone else brought it up and I'd also like to know. I'd put money on it being less then 10.

Just remember what Voltaire says "I may not agree with what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it"

Anyways I've found this skill/minigame to be pretty fun. It definitely is suited towards groups and I hate the waiting room aspect of it, but once you get into the dungeon its not bad. I'm even considering renewing my membership because of it. I want to be able to use higher level armor as right now I can already use the highest f2p stuff and i'm a little bit sick of it.

But there are numerous house portals located around the world. Plus the fact you train in your own home changes it up a lot.

So what, there are 3 ways to go to the dungeon peninsula (and the only positive thing about the many portals is not that you are going IN with them, but the going OUT option). You can view the ring as a teleport spell and the 2 other ways as portals ... I don't see the difference between limited house space and limited dungeoneering space ...

I bet if they allowed you to take a set of armour out and did away with the token system you would all take a better look at this skill and quit ridiculing it.

I'm dreadfully tired of the no-attack glitch. I've had to restart a dungeon several times because when I clicked Attack NPC, nothing happened. And yes, I was wielding a weapon that did'nt require ammo.

Are you sure is not just lag? So are you are unable to attack the NPC at all or you can only attack it after clicking several times?

My skill level is 14. No one really can debate what I say because it's an opinion and I don't really try to debate theres. Howver I don't go around calling people names and insulting them. No I'll leave that to the people that I honestly want nothing to do with. I'm not on tip.it for the "community" because the Runescape community for the mosrt are a bunch of marks that will do what they're told, like what they're told, and believe what they're told and defend all three to the death.

I have a few people on here that I like talking to, some that I even like debating/arguing with, but for the most part I don't care about being called a troll or anything else becuase my posts aren't meant for you. I find that Tip.it has this beautiful little ignore button that works perfectly for weeding out the posts of people that I don't want to see. If you don't like what I have to say, I highly recommend it. Otherwise, for all intensive purposes, Zark off!

Thanks Mono. There are aspects that can be liked. The humor, the originality, the opinion. You don't have to like them all to appreciate another.

I build a house that people can visit with the skill. I don't trade tokens for that table, or that bed, or that shelf....

All other skills:

Training skill -> Skill levels -> Resource, product or abilities.

Dungeoneering:

Training skill using a non-tradeable version of items already existing in the game -> Skill levels -> EXP calculating machine -> Tokens -> Unrelated items to the dungeons or the monsters.

If I have it my way, those reward items, your so-called product of the skill Dungeoneering could have been added to the game in one way or another. A new boss to drop the level 80 combat items. A few new slayer monsters to drop the amulets and bow enhancer. A new minigame involving mining to give the coal bag. A farming D&D to give the scroll of life. And they would make much better sense as well.

Now, try giving fish through woodcutting, or building a house using mining.

If you ask me, the way something is implemented is as important as what that something does on its own. Take the re-colouring of inifinity robes and whips. Which one has more bang, incorporating the concept of magic and elemental colours, or just attaching the ability to colour the item through an unrelated minigame?

Are there any CC's for people who know what they are doing and will play as a team in the game? (For F2P)

Pretty much sums up Dungeoneering. A minigame that is apparently a skill. Makes Sailing almost sound godly

God, could you imagine two years going into a Archaeology skill where we could've dug up stuff that helped our are skills as well as finding rare, untradeable armor that could've been fixed up for a super high, but one time only price? :-|

However, we do not know if this is all the skill will ever be. From the looks of it, the dungeon so far looks to be very ice based. This leads me to presume sometime in the future we may get another dungeoneering area which could be fire based somewhere near a volcano, or an earthy based one.

Little question here concerning Icefiends...

What is the best way to kill them, to actually inflict damage on them... Are they weak to fire or something, because with a protherium (sp) maul and max melee, I barely hit them, even the low level ones (60 something)....
