This guy is very tough. Summons hordes of tomes to attack you and has a nasty magic attack.

He was only level 114 for me on solo. He still managed to kill me first time I faced him 'cause I didn't know those 4-5 flashing books around me would go all ASPLODEY and KO me from max health :-w

Ugh Played for like an hour with 3 (or maybe 4) others, had all but one of them quit right away, me and the other dude played until the boss, until we had no food left and kept trying to suicide it, until then it healed every time it hit half health. had to quit didnt even get any exp, it was a floor 3.

I'm never playing that big a team random ever again.

and if u want to prestige again u gotta reset and go back to dungeon 1? thats horrible

Lol. Get some reading comprehension. You just said the opposite of what he explained to you.

I think the problem here is Jagex gave the crappiest tutorial of the skill of all time, if you could even call it that. I bet if I knew what I was doing, it would be loads of fun. But when you introduce so many new items and concepts, it is hard to grasp it all at once.

It's like I bought members all over again.

I hate the fact that I often get matched with a level 130+ in the free-for-all place, which he will log out from, leaving me with an insanely hard boss to kill and no experience at all when I can't...

Is there any way to be sure to solo?

CAn any 1 tell me about this prestege thingy? i hear with it high the xp is Very high. But after every game i get a 0 in that section. How Do I Gain This?

Hypothetical situation. You have unlocked floors 1 to 8, and you've beaten 1 to 4. Your prestige is 4.

If you play level 1 again, your prestige will not change because you've already finished it. Your prestige will not be used since level 1 has been beaten. It's calculated at prestige 0.

If you play level 5, your prestige will increase by one since it's a new level. Your prestige will be used at the new value, 5.

If you play levels 5 through 7, your prestige will increase by three since that's three new levels. The rewards will be calculated at 5, 6, and 7.

Alternatively, if you hit reset,

If you play level 1 again, your prestige will increase by 1. However, your fixed prestige (what you reset at) is higher (4), so it calculates your reward at prestige 4.

If you play level 5, your prestige will increase by 1. However, your fixed prestige is higher (4), so it calculates your reward at prestige 4.

If you play levels 5 through 7, your prestige will increase by three, but since it's still lower than 4, you will calculate all rewards at 4.

In other words, use the reset button if you plan on replaying all the previous levels. Do not use the reset button if you plan to play new levels exclusively.

I have, but I still haven't memorized how good each item is, what strategy to use, what skills to utilize when, etc. More of a learning process I guess. Hopefully I will get there eventually..

Just to make sure, since I've seen many explanations and none made sense until now, plus I'm kind of slow

If I was to go through level 1 all the way to level 20 and reset, then went 1 through 20 again, I'd be getting the best xp from then on, every game?

You dont need to memorize anything. Tier 1 is the worst, Tier 11 is the best. Therefore, you can gauge how good an item is instantly by just examining it. As for strategies and what skills to utilize, that's just trial and error i guess :)

LOL. Whatever happen to sailing becoming the new skill?

It was never confirmed as a skill. In fact, Jagex has denied it several times.

Literally the only reason why people thought sailing would be a skill was that people thought the mage in the Runescape banner picture was sailing. Seriously.

I know it was silly. I bet those people are crying or something.

It's actually pretty hilarious, yesterday on RSOF there were several "I WOULD HAVE RATHER HAD SAILING" threads. Pretty funny stuff

from my understanding, people are taking this update more as a mini-game then an actual stand alone skill. I briefly read a little bit about the skill, mainly in the rants sub forum on runescape.com, and gathered enough information to get the jist of things.

1) you can only train the skill in a sanctioned area.

what is runecrafting? you make runs to and from an altar that transports you to a disconnected area.

2) you must do this skill in groups.

you aren't forced to. from what i've heard, soloing is a possibility. it shouldn't hurt to play along with other people. you don't go off to the corner of nowheres and cut a willow tree do you when you woodcut, do you? no. you probably cut magics in seers or willows in catherby. you don't fish alone do you? no. you probably fish with 20 other people in the fishing guild, or in catherby. basically, it is a nice way to interact with your fellow community members, meet new people, get help from maybe veterans of the skill (not now, but in the future)

3) the experience is slow

suck it up. jagex made runescape so easy, compared to RSC, that people expect to be handed their level 99 on a silver plate. it's nice to see a skill that you can't power level to 99 - or 120 - in a week. back in rsc, you used to have to make certs, take 10 minutes just to withdraw enough money to buy a rare, bury bones for weeks just to get to level 60, and have to sleep everytime you were fatigued. i think this skill will seperate the hard working, dedicated players, from the players who think they can buy a 99 in a week and not even have time to enjoy the skill.

4) you can't use the items outside of the skill area.

this is a minor problem, that i am sure jagex will address in the near future. you don't use a pickaxe outside of mining, or a tinderbox outside of firemaking, or a hatchet outside of woodcutting, or bones outside of prayer, etc. I am sure you could if you wanted to, but what does it benefit?

Just remember, it's a new skill. With 1000's of people pouring millions of minutes into this new skill, many complaints are bound to surface, and if the problems become that big of a deal, jagex WILL fix them. nothing is perfect over night. think of how long runescape has been active, how many updates each skill has received over that period of time, and how there might still even be some problems with skills.
