Cure for Tradable Rares

Equipable ones

They become untradable. For a time, you could "sell" them to Diango for the GE price (before this update). Else, you could keep it. Every year, during that holiday event (so for phat, during christmas) monsters would randomly drop that equipable items (so phats, not crackers). The rate would be EXTREMELY low, but progressively higher with monster level (though still VERY rare); still untradable and exactly the same as the current ones.

Inventory items

for lack of a better name, the other rares. Pumpkins, disks, crackers, etc. would be sold to Diango for the GE price. No keeping onto it.

Untradables would remain the same. They are a sign of how long you've played, not wealth or anything.

Thoughts? (I mean flames flames flames)

But you fail to address one key issue that makes the rest of your idea meaningless.

What's the point? What are you trying to accomplish here?

Perhaps it's just an attempt to make for his jealousy on other peoples wealth, that makes him think so destructive... who knows? (besides himself, Mr. Obvious...)

if people are jealous and want a phat so bad, then instead of doing your idea, the people who want it could just work for it, like almost every1 else has. (i say almost because some people were around when they were dropped, or have come into a large amount of gee peez by doing little to nothing, like clues, drop party worlds, etc). and also. why sell it for market price? what happens to the people who spent probabaly 2-3x market price (idk street prices of phats since im too poor too own one)? are they just ripped off and left with half of their bank b4 they bought it?

I like getting hard when I PK

Spirit shields and party hats are something for the higher level and elite players who have nothing else to spend their gp on to work towards. Taking party hats out of circulation would only add more massive inflation to the game, and punish the wealthy.

^ This.

Also people would eventually turn to other items and increase their "street" value dramatically, causing those items to virtually become the new "Rares". I'd imagine people raising the prices on things like animal masks, 3rd age etc. It would be chaos. So I say no to supporting this 'cure'. It is fine the way it is.

Have fun trying to obtain commonly used items and armour/swords because that's where all the money introduced will go. Care to explain why rares need a "cure" in the first place?

Yea no. Rares are good for the economy whether jagex wanted them to be worth a few billion or not.

What will the rich players do who have absolutely nothing left to spend there money on buy?

Once they get max cash just buy 2147m worth of resources and repeat?

Yea thats fun.

That being said...your a [bleep]ing [bleep] douchebag, and none of your advice will ever (or should ever) be taken seriously because of it.

disregard good advice because the giver is a douche

The discontinued rare market is what makes this games economy so diverse and unique. The most expensive items in the game do absolutely nothing for you, but create a great way to place your money. They make an interesting way to merchant, and gives investors a unique chance to gain money (because the price of discontinued items will always rise). All of that, and they give you a reason to continue to play.

I do believe this is a slash thread.

I do not agree with anyone that says the rares need to removed/changed. Rares should always be rares, no matter how many some people have. It is just a part of the game that players need to deal with even though they can't afford or just can't obtain them. I myself have been wanting a party hat for a long time, but can't seem to reach them because of junk trading. Do I get angry and say they need to be removed? No, I just keep going along and trying to finally reach one someday.

Like said before, without rares when you're all maxed out and what not, what is there to work towards? All be it pointless to sit on a massive cash pile just as much as it is party hats now, atleast it's something to work for. It'd be a bad idea imo.

I think we've had enough inflation already, think of all those gps that would enter the game if this happened. And people will sell their partyhats, because most who own one are hoarders/merchers, so they have more than one at least, they'll just keep one and sell the rest.

I think its a bad idea because of all the problems it would cause would far outweigh the benefits. People would riot, inflation would be insane (chessy018 has $50 Bil+ in santas for example), and the economy for all high end/ junk-traded items would go crazy.

However if this did happen, your plan for trade-able, wearable rares should be changed. They should be replaced for GP (like you stated) and then anyone who was around for the original event should get a new non-trade-able rare. This way they have the same function as holiday items do today, to show how long you have been playing the game (not to show that you got lucky from a monster drop like in your plan).

Problem?

Everyone wants a Partyhat these days.

'Solution'?

Make them untradable and add billions and billions of gold pieces to the game.

Result?

The whole economy is changed, inflation is out of control, elite players that spend years working their way up to their current wealth are screwed, etc..

Just because everyone wanted a pixelated hat on his head.

.. Not even mentioning the 2,147,483,647 limit on cash piles.
