Guys, I think I have a water world...

http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/1610/waterworld.png[/img

Notice the water level, and the cloud level. It stays this way as far as I go. I guess I got the ultimate ocean.

I see you've found the biome adjustment mod

That happens when you set the water level higher. It's pretty awesome - like something from wind waker. Unfortunately for epic oceans you sacrifice nearly all landmass.

And hold on, you can spawn a Nether portal now? O_o

Naw, Notch took it out. It was a dev debugging shortcut that he forgot to remove.

How do I use the folder? Just chuck the .rar in there, or what?

I assume you're talking about the Texture Pack folder? First, you have to archive the folders in the .zip format. Second, \gui\, \item\, \misc\, \mob\, \terrain\, char.png, clouds.png, snow.png, and terrain.png have to be in the root of the .zip archive. You can't have texturepacks\Painterly.zip\Painterly\[data], for instance. You have to have texturepacks\Painterly.zip\[data]. Then you can chuck the .zip into .minecraft\texturepacks. Or you can put in in texturepacks first, and then rearrange the files. Whatever suits you. :P

Tried putting one on my laptop, killed minecraft. <_<

Many believe that the 1980 eruption of Mt. Saint Helens was a catostrophic geological event, in reality it was the day that Jimi Hendrix returned to Earth from the next world and actually stood up next to a mountain and chopped it down with the edge of his hand.

Yeah, it's amazing. I should raise the average height of land to a higher variable so I can get some pretty big rain forest islands.

Using the painterly pack, how would I go about putting the skin files in the minecraft mods and textures folder? I placed the files in there but it won't add it to the textures. D:

Make a minecart system that spans across all islands!

Just an idea

1. Extract the files from the Painterly Pack.

2. Copy the files in the pack:

3. Create a new Zip File:

screenshot1111201074125.png

4. Paste files into the new Zip file.

5. Move the new Zip file to the minecraft mods/textures folder.

Basically you just have to make sure the files are in the root of the zip folder.

On my last trip into my cave system under my house I came up with 12 diamonds! The Trip lasted about half an hour. Also found 30 some iron and two stacks of redstone. What is redstone even good for anyways?

Well, dragon, I'm glad you asked.

Of course we also have the more practical uses.

(video contains naughty words, there I warned you)

Expecting a good life because you're a good person is like expecting a bull not to charge because you're a vegetarian.

Even better.

Roses are red,

Violets are blue.

This line doesn't rhyme,

And neither does this one.

And that is precisely why I always have a bucket of water and food with me when going into the deeper parts of a mine >.>

Yeah, lava's dangerous, but avoiding it isn't terribly hard, so long as you're cautious about where you're standing as you're mining (ie, don't stand directly next to the block you're mining, stand a bit back so if lava pours out, it doesn't pour onto you). I will note, however, that lava does have the ability to light me on fire through walls... luckily, both times this happened I was knee deep in water, but I still got the hurt sound and the on fire thing for a split second.

I have a tendency of converting lava to obsidian as I find it, since once I have a few source lava blocks, I know I won't need any more anytime soon, and it's a bit safer (don't want mobs knocking me into lava or anything).

Honestly, the last little while, I haven't played Minecraft as much - been playing Dwarf Fortress, or trying to >.> getting back into Minecraft now, though. I decided to try that biome mod a page or two back. It seems to have reignited my interest in Minecraft for the moment :P playing mostly on normal settings, but I adjusted the height and depth parameters so I started waay up on a cliff with no way down >.> at least there's plenty of supplies (coal and wood) up here, so I don't need to worry about going down just yet. I'll build a boatovator or something once I expand my underground home out enough to nearly hit the cliff face from the inside. I should have found iron by then, if not... I'm sure I'll locate some by wandering around down below. Noticed a few waterfalls (and one lavafall) while I was looking over the edge when I started, so I'm enjoying the fact I spawned near those :P

Oh. My. God.

MCEdit has a function called demomans' chest. Inside is 24 stacks of 64 TNT along with some levers, redstone dust and pressure plates.. I am a VERY happy explosive chappy.

If you go under the main Minecraft directory (C:\Docs and Settings\Username\App Data\.minecraft or something similar), there's a folder labeled "saves". Under there, just compress the save you want (they're numbered the same as in game) into a zip or rar file, and upload it, I suppose. I've downloaded a save file before (I think it was uploaded to megaupload or something), so it shouldn't be that difficult to do, assuming megaupload and similar sites are easy as imageshack is to use >.>

As for my own save files, if I could I would, but dialup internet means I'd be sitting here for an hour for it to upload :P

Also, starting to really hate spiders on here -.- they're by far the most annoying mob to deal with for me, assuming I don't have a bow. Bow means everything is easy, assuming I'm not swarmed. The combination of the spider's jump and run attacking makes them more difficult to predict and stay just out of range and still hit them >.>

I just got Minecraft. Played around a bit in classic and now gonna try Survival mode, which is much different from what I read. Any tips for a noob on how to start?

Found an immense cave system. Went from an entrance halfway up reasonably tall mountain, until I hit the non-mineable rock. So many waterfalls, lavafalls. I ended up making a staircase that wound around a lava fall, it looked pretty glorious. :3 Ended up getting lost in there after spending like half an hour mining myself rooms, making staircases around, just generally making the place a bit more homey. xD I think I may make a new non-Peaceful world to play on, but the prospect kinda terrifies me, haha. ._. Playing with Peaceful off for like half an hour was pretty unnerving. It's like... near silence, and then you hear kinda shuffling noises, and then something drops onto you from an overhang and you freak out and it turns out that a cow managed to get into your cave. AND THEN SSSSSSSSBOOM. Or sitting at a junction in a cave, and you can hear moans but you can't tell where they're coming from argh. Seriously, Minecraft has probably scared me more than most horror games from this gen.

Anyways, decided to turn the mountain into my own little base. Made a tower at the very peak, adorned it with torches, so I'll never be lost, heh. Ended up with like 6 stacks of coal, 2 of iron, and 20 gold bars. Haven't seen stuff like Redstone and Diamonds, yet. >_>
