jasignhagj Posted April 24, 2011 Share Posted April 24, 2011 I finally got the game last night. After a couple fail worlds, I now have a somewhat successful hideout. It's a cave carved into a rock face, about 6x5x3. Then going farther into the rock I have a staircase descending into a pit, and a mine. I also built a 2x2 tower up to the clouds with torches to act as a beacon when I'm exploring, and I'm starting on a castle in the ocean across from my hideout. I've died like 10 times though, mostly from falling off the tower, and a couple times from creeps in the early morning. Ill post some screenies later once my castle is done. I have Optimine(SP?) but I once read something about a combination of 3-4 performance mods, including Optimine. Thanks in advance. But I dunno, even with Opitimine I still get incredible lag after 30 minutes into playing. All I have built is a small 6x6 cave and a Millenaire village nearby. Can't imagine the lag when I start building bigger things... Well anyway, I'll keep at it. Searching and hopefully getting a reply. To make re-direct this back to gameplay: Beautiful. I plan to take care of it's inhabitants. (Legit mode here). I plan to give them a theater and some other entertainments and a road system...but my ultimate plan is to build them a railway connecting Dourves with another village. The village is next to a large bay with a spot perfect for a lighthouse. Far away in the very beautiful terrain is a mountain fit for a castle. My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. Looks like a stockholder contract. Lots of games have a special program for it, that doesn't compromise the code, but still allows the players to construct mods. Maybe Java's different, but this doesn't seem to be an effective method. *EDIT: God, why is the Minecraft community so god damn [developmentally delayed]ed? Half flame and rant about paying and the other half say you don't buy the mods. Nobody's thinking of the modders. Peronix Posted April 26, 2011 Share Posted April 26, 2011 Well according to Notch it would be pretty difficult to make an SDK that would satisfy everyone, especially considering people essentially already have access to the source code through projects like MCP. Providing the source code seems like a great option, after all it means mods won't break after every single update. But of course unless some changes are made to the source it will still necessitate things like Mod Loader, unless Notch decides to make Mod Loader functionality official. And yeah I know firsthand what you mean about people not thinking of the modder. On my thread like 95% of the posts are people wondering when my mods will be updated, or asking for certain features or what have you. Yet I haven't received a single donation through PayPal. It's a very complicated matter and I'm not looking forward to the forums being spammed with garbage posts. Kinda pathetic, but not much you can do about it. At least some people just wait patiently and don't complain, I guess. Pretty sure this is part of the reason a few modders left MC Forums and went over to that MCModCenter or whatever it's called. Same thing with the creator of the Humans+ mod, Mr. Okushama or something similar? He locked his topic temporarily for a while because he was overwhelmed by the idiot masses begging for updates and [bleep]ing because there wasn't one. As for Notch's idea for the modder's API thing, I just hope it works, and modders now don't have to jump through more hoops just to get a mod online and working. And Gio, I've played my new world for... dunno how many hours, but quite a few in game days. I've only seen rain twice, but it usually lasted through most of the day and part of the night. Quick update on my world: got Millenaire reinstalled, there's a village a fair distance away to the east of my current house, although there's literally no trees near it. Gonna have to create a tree farm just for them, lol. Why they built in a desert I have no idea... Tried a new mod, MovePlus or something similar. It's incredibly cool looking, but insanely dangerous. Double tapping a movement key causes you to dodge in that direction, and I dodged directly into lava -.- thankfully I had leather armor on, I managed to get out with 1 1/2 hearts left. The most realistic terrain I've seen in Minecraft yet. Busy mapping the continent with a biplane. Noticed that my lighthouse actually is part of a river.
