After watching my friends play for several months I recently caved and shelled out the $22 USD for Minecraft and played it for very long hours for the couple of days after. I had loads of fun, built myself a log cabin with a tower on the top of it, two mines, and made myself a diamond pick and a portal to the Nether. After all this I lost interest and migrated back to RuneScape. I love Minecraft, it just seems RuneScape is the game for me. One of the driving reasons for me purchasing Minecraft is to have a really fun game with near limitless content to play when I am in locations that do not possess internet such as my friend's house or on the road.

I'm pretty sure most people (including myself) go through stages of playing lots of Minecraft then not playing it a while. What usually gets me back into it is starting another project ie a massive building or something.

Oh and Low_C, any chance we could have the world save for the DS server? I'd like to have a look at what other people have done and what not :)

My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.

Wow there are a lot of bugs with 1.5, and 1.5_01 not only didn't seem to fix many of them, it created a whole bunch of new bugs. Well it dosen't look like I'll be updating my mods for quite a while. There will almost surely be a 1.5_02 and maybe even a 1.5_03 at this rate.

Bug Fixes:

Blocks can now be placed on Snow.

Rain no longer goes through translucent blocks.

Light does not go through stair blocks anymore, however if you did this in a previous update, unless the stairs are destroyed or a block adjacent is built or destroyed it will still work.

Pumpkin and Jack-O-Lantern inventory texture is now fixed. Before, it was backwards. However, all placed pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns on the map are backwards.

Game no longer crashes when rails are placed next to detector rails, or vice versa.

Wolves are less common than in 1.5.

New Bugs:

Many different activities will crash SMP with an "internal server error".

On some servers if a block is placed on a snow block, the action will be immediately reversed and the snow block will return and the placed block will be added back to your inventory. (May only happen when snowing)

In SSP lightning on Steps is broken. Step turns black (on newly placed steps).

Rain now falls through Water.

Minecart Tracks of all types' placement behaves unexpectedly, not properly orienting after placement. (Curves don't work, slopes don't work, etc.) However if attempted again it will work.

Putting a smelted item (glass, stone etc.) back in the furnace doesn't work.

Placing blocks and/or mining, digging and/or harvesting resources with a texture pack installed rarely causes the game to crash to desktop in SSP.

If you have a single wolf it rarely will turn into a wild wolf after you save your game. This can be fixed by taming a second wolf.

Water does not change to Ice while snowing. Most likely related to the fix, "Rain no longer goes through translucent blocks."

There doesn't seem to be a huge number of gameplay bugs from what I can see from wiki's version history, but I'm going to guess that from a modder's point of view, there's probably more things not visible to the average minecrafter for bugs.

Then again, some of the bugs look fairly game breaking for people with fairly established worlds (rails not curving, etc).

*scrolls down to the list of bugs for 1.5*

... Damn, that's a lot of bugs. Yeah, this really isn't looking good, now that I'm a bit more awake and understanding the sheer number of bugs present right now. Jeez. Good thing I still have 1.4_01 with all my mods intact, if things get too bad I'll just downgrade to that again.

Did 1.5 update the grass blocks? My texture packs getting messed up with grass, specifically on the sides (like on hills), it takes on an iron block form.

I haven't checked the default texture png file yet, I hope that's it...something's arranged differently.

Ugh, I really want to play Minecraft for some reason...but, mah mods. :ohnoes:

Yeah, Gio - 1.5 altered the sides of the grass blocks - you know how before the upper lip of grass didn't match up with the biome compliant top of the grass block? 1.5 makes it so that little lip of grass on the side matches the color. I'm not exactly sure why it's appearing as iron blocks, but I'd assume it's a texture.png rearrangement. I'll take a quick look at it, see where the grass side thing is at on the terrain file. Assuming it's there.

Also, for those playing on anything but peaceful, watch out for creepers. If they're struck by lightning, they become powered creepers, which have a far more concentrated and larger explosion. They tear through cobblestone like a normal one would through dirt, and insta kill regardless of hp on normal/hard modes (from the wiki).

EDIT: Just brought up terrain.png. Seems that the biome compliant side grass image is directly underneath the iron block image in the default textures file, so your texture pack showing iron blocks as the sides of grass due to it being in that same spot seems like the most likely culprit.

I donwloaded a portal gun mod for it and it broke Minecraft -.-

Why cant there be better explanations for installing mods...

There's actually a mod installing tool here:

Screw InvEdit, try TMI (Too many Items!). It's an ingame version of that tool. So much better!

Playing on that gargamel seed, beautiful world. Just built myself a lighthouse for the harbor.

Link given because server rules apparently don't like PNG.

Misclicked after pulling a flint and steel out of a chest, GF my log cabin.

Working on farming some trees to rebuild...

Also have a project going to make a large 128 x 128 x 128 chamber underground. It's going good so far.

I think I might've only seen one spider jockey in my entire time playing. Good job actually finding one, lol.

Thankfully, for how powerful they are in terms of combat (health of both spider and skeleton, having to kill both seperately, spider's jump range, and skeleton's range attack), they're also really glitchy. I recall reading that if the spider jumps at the right time, it'll jump right up into the skeleton firing, and get hit - making it boot the skeleton off and maul it. Or, you could just wait till daylight for the skeleton to burn :P

I should start a new world in easy/normal, actually. I've lost what little combat ability I've had by playing in peaceful >.>

I just calculated how much time I've spent on Minecraft. The way I did it was that I used NBTedit to check how much time I've spent on the worlds and then counted them together.

The five worlds I've played for more than a few minutes add up to 57 hours.

The world I've played the most is currently at 27 hours. World 1 (which I haven't played for a while) is at 16.5 hours.

Considering the dozens of worlds I've deleted I think the total time of single player (Alpha / Beta) is around 70 hours.

My server is currently at 10.5 hours. I haven't played much on other servers, maybe around 5 hours total.

So survival multiplayer time = 15 hours.

I also played Creative for a while about a year ago; that probably adds ~5 more hours.

70 + 15 + 5 = 90 hours. Quite good for a €10 game :)

By the way, if you want to check your own times, just download NBTedit, open the level.dat file of a world (found inside the world's save), and look for a variable called "Time". Divide it by 72000 to get the time in hours. This way you can see how much time you've spent on a single world and you also see pre-Beta 1.5 time.

Goddamn thunder creepers.

Annoying little bastards, if they get hit by lightning watch out. They will instantly kill if they blow up on you.

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

I know it'd be hard to do, but I wish I could find newer stuff near my home base. Now I'm going to have to take a minecart track far out past the stuff I've been through before and make a new settlement. I've stayed exclusively on the one world since day one.

Also, what's a good new mapping tool, Cartograph doesn't work for Beta.

Whenever that happens to me, I just go into the ceiling in the nether and make a tunnel for a few minutes. Make a portal back to the surface and you're almost guaranteed to have never seen the place before

Just went to the DVD store to rent a game. Was going to get Red Dead Redemption, but when I took it to the counter to redeem it I was told it had vanished. :/ All of the other good titles were gone and I ended up coming home with Rainbow Six Vegas 2. I don't really like it ...

Play Minecraft instead.
