We've been talking about this in Bsc, and we all seem to be lagging lately. I was just wondering if any one else on the forums have been experiencing this?

Worlds to avoid at the moment:

 

 

There's a topic in the High-Level forum called "what worlds have you been disconnecting on" and we have to post the worlds and times, it's a few worlds effected it seems like 83, 84.

 

 

Others that seem to have been reported are; 2, 9, 22, 23, 24, 31, 44, 46, 53, 65, 68, 69, 71, 77, 82, 83, 84, 89, 99, 103, 115, 143, 145, 148.

I definitely have. I lagged out yesterday right before I went to Dks, and needless to say I didn't go after that. I've also seen/heard about a lot of people dying and losing things because of the lag.

Yep server lags.

A lot of people in my cc have been getting thrown out at the same time when in the same world.

World 99 is an effected world by looking at what a few other players have reported

I haven't had any lag at all.. except the normal lag when doing dungeoneering in 117.

84 has been the main culprit.

ya im startin to lag too!!! howverf i stopped my lagging by closing itunes and counterstrike while palyin runscape it helped me!!!!

I was lagging in 103, then i dc'ed and hopped worlds.

I lagged out when doing the new quest. But past that, my lag's just been normal.

There's some talk on RSC that certain clans may be responsible for DDoSing Jagex's servers. Take that with a grain of salt, just thought I'd mention it.

 

More likely is that the game has gotten so big that it can't handle the stress of all the players and the data both. We all know how cheap Jagex is, so it wouldn't come as a surprise to me if they were using out-dated hardware.

I thought it was just me until everyone in W99 got lagged out at the same time a few days ago. This better mean that Jagex is doing some sort of updates to the servers, because if not, then they're going to have to do a lot of work because there are a lot of affected worlds.

I wouldn't say it's a rumour ;) I've heard that too, because once you find the weak ones I'd say it's pretty easy to do so, I remember when they had ISP trouble earlier in 2009 with the USA servers people chose to DDoS those and dropped them like flies.

 

There's videos on people doing it too ;) looking for efame maybe when it's illegal to do so.

I remember around the time mmg became ceo they had a video of someone inside jagex kind of bragging how they were running rs on some really old servers. But that also showed that rs wasn't exactly a beast on the machines.

 

It doesn't really surprise me though. Most people i have met in the networking world pride themsleves in using/reusing old hardware and handling a surprising load.

Pretty much this. Same reason why people hack accounts just to drop their stuff; people are douches.

Yup, been dc'ing in w65.

W28.. My friend and I both dc'd at the same going through a large dungeon. Twice.

I disconnected 2-3 times today in W99 while doing the new quest. Of course it was during a cutscene and I had to restart it each time I was able to log back in.

This has been happening to me a lot. It was really noticeable a few days ago on w99; the game was lagging and disconnecting frequently. Every time I got logged of the world population was significantly down, and other's in my clan's cc were experiencing the same problems.
