January 19, 201115 yr No, they said that you will still be able to get pvp/corrupt amor. Not sure where though.
January 19, 201115 yr Yep, and I know "adding/removing a few lines of code here and there" is never as easy as some people here want to believe it is.It's still a thousand times faster than creating new content from scratch, moreso in a modular programming language like java.True, I won't deny that. It's just not AS straight forward as some believed it to be.Working with objects in Java is not the same as "copypasta this copypasta that" or "change this variable from RESTRICTED to FREE". I honestly think that some of you believe Jagex can copy and paste the safe PvP minigames to where ever they want to. This update will affect almost all of the game, and, like someone mentioned earlier, I hope they spent more than 2 weeks coding AND testing on update of this magnitude.

You have no concept of coding on such a huge scale if you think it's so simple. Of course some of the basic ideas will already be written for them but because RS has advanced so much since the code was used, it's going to be outdated and frankly just wrong. I'm damn sure on every level that there's no way Jagex has just started coding for it, otherwise we wouldn't see it for another few months. I edit for the [Tip.It Times]. I rarely write in [My Blog]. I am an [Ex-Moderator].
January 19, 201115 yr No, they said that you will still be able to get pvp/corrupt amor. Not sure where though. Since you won't be getting it from players, it'll probably be relegated to drops from NPCs in the wilderness. Not having to fight players will make it easier to obtain, which will mean the prices will go down, not that they're very expensive to begin with. Corrupt Dragon might actually become a little more viable for free players.
January 19, 201115 yr "dude when trade limit comes out can u spare some money please?" You already have noobs begging in ahead of the update. In addition they don't even know how to beg properly.
January 19, 201115 yr Keep corp in the wild and add brawlers/corrupt/PvP stuff to his drop list?
January 19, 201115 yr Keep corp in the wild and add brawlers/corrupt/PvP stuff to his drop list? :unsure:I was thinking they were gonna add brawlers and stuff to Rev drops, which would be on that island east of the wilderness, I think. Seem's like it would be a decent thing to do. Actually give me a reason to kill rev's besides just because I hate them so much. :P
January 19, 201115 yr Will the prices of all G.E items go back up? Many items are crashing. probably not
January 19, 201115 yr Will the prices of all G.E items go back up? Many items are crashing. probably notSome will, some won't. At the moment a lot of the price rises and crashes are down to the announcement, and are temporary. E.g. Claws and sharks have been sky rocketing, this will not be permanent. Legalize baby punching. Tax and regulate it. Punch babies erry day.

Agreed, I definately think if they're coming out with this on Feb 1 they've already been working on it. But I disagree with the people saying this whole vote was a publicity stunt and they would have released it either way. Yes they've been working on it, but I honestly believe that if the community gave a resounding NO on the issue they would have scrapped it. They've scrapped things in the past for less important reasons; wilderness tag comes to mind. I do think that they anticipated that the majority of the community would be in favor. And putting the wilderness and free trade together like that may have skewed the vote, because I think there are a lot more people who want free trade to come back than the old wilderness. Full loot in PvP worlds would have worked just as fine IMO, but I don't mind either way.

Some people were concerned that even when the majority were in favour of it, Jagex still may not rerelease them. That's where the idea of "they're going to release it either way" came about. We knew the majority would be in favour of it; they knew the majority would be in favour of it. They weren't using the poll as a means of gauging the interest because they already knew the interest was there. Sure if the majority were against it they may have scrapped it, but the point is they knew it wouldn't be ;) - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog
January 19, 201115 yr How long till we get some more information do people think? Check it out, huge amount of effort has gone into this massive mod![hide=old sig][/hide]
January 19, 201115 yr But I disagree with the people saying this whole vote was a publicity stunt and they would have released it either way ... Right -- that's why they're selling T-shirts for it now. There's absolutely NO publicity involved. None! Absolutely NONE. Ya know, this reminds me a LOT of "Baghdad Bob" ...

January 19, 201115 yr How long till we get some more information do people think? "On Saturday 22nd January at 3PM GMT we'll be holding a live forum Q&A session with our content team, who'll be fielding your questions on the imminent return of Free Trade and the Wilderness." Not that PR wasn't involved in the decision...
January 20, 201115 yr OK, I give up, call it a publicity stunt if you will, along with all of the implied animosity that comes with that, but in my opinion even if they were 99% sure that the community would respond favorably, the opposing votes still mattered. So if taking things to a vote was entirely a way of getting on the community's good side, it worked on at least one person. The T-Shirt thing is a bit silly though

So if taking things to a vote was entirely a way of getting on the community's good side, it worked on at least one person. The T-Shirt thing is a bit silly though  I think what people are really meaning to say is that Jagex already had plans to release the Wildy and Free Trade before they even put it to a vote. The outcome of this vote was fairly predictable, so that made this whole vote safe. Now if for some bizarre reason the vote hadn't favored bringing back these features, or even if it hadn't been such a decisive landslide, then yes of course Jagex would've reconsidered it, no matter if they had already begun working on the programming or not. But it was pretty obvious how this was going to play out, not to mention how the poll was implemented. It's like Jagex grinned and yelled, "Who wants ice cream?" It's a rhetorical question. Everyone wants ice cream, or at least in this case, 91% of everyone.
January 20, 201115 yr I hope you're right. Calling something a "publicity stunt" just seems so cynical to me
January 20, 201115 yr Why is it so important that it be called a publicity stunt? IMO, if that's the case, then good on JaGex for being smart and trying to make as much money as possible. Look at this this way, they make money, the players are happy, a win-win situation. Why all the hate? Is it that there's nothing else to hate on so you guys resort to calling them "liars" and this whole thing a "publicity stunt"?
