What genre of music do you like?

Recommended Posts

I personally like anything in the 'metal' genre. Particularly bands like Avenged Sevenfold, Atreyu, Slayer, those kind of bands. Share what kind of music you like.

I go through phases of getting into certain genres so I think I've a fairly broad taste in music.

Although, I've been to more metal gigs and concerts than anything else so I'd say metal for that alone.

I can get into any genre, if you give me the time, but I'd say I'm mostly into metal, electronic and rock, not to say I don't listen to other genres, they're just the larger ones.

Anything really.

I don't try and limit myself to certain genres and evaluate stuff on a artist by artist basis. I haven't really found anything much (yet) that I like from Country, however. All these other genres though there is stuff I like from though.

I think our music tastes are almost exactly the same. From the songs you listed on that one song thread and the genres here. I don't know many people that like punk rock and heavy metal, but now I know at least 1 other person.

Lately I've been going with just listening to whatever sounds good regardless of genre.

But in general rock/metal and most things in between.

I like:

Blues

New Wave

Pop/rock (I.E. U2, Travis)

Everything in metal except Guns n Roses, nu and all those "core" things.

Classical, especially dark/heavy pieces.

Trance, techno, jungle, d'n'b, goa.

Some Indie.

Country, when it's not about love.

Rock'n'roll/Rockabilly

Celtic

Almost anything goes.

Lately i've been listening to a lot of New Wave/Rock, Blues and 60/70 pop/rock/psychedelic stuff.

Best way I could describe it really. Just takes time for me to like stuff. Recently though: a lot of ambient electronic, reggae, jazz and metal.

EDIT: Don't like the term "metal" to describe music. It's too broad, too vague. What band(s) do you immediately think of when you hear "metal" ?

Pretty much anything. I don't base it on genre, but on a song-to-song basis. Although I haven't found much rap I like.

I listen to country the most, but that's just because of how I was raised.

I can listen to just about anything outside of modern country (I like old country-western at times).

These are some of my favorites though:

Jazz/Swing

Fusion

90's alternative/grunge

Shoegaze

Classic Rock

90's hip-hop/rap

Progressive

New Wave

Most rock subgenres, ranging from acoustic indie pop rock (is that even a thing?) to death metal, though for some reason I don't seem to like punk rock anymore, which is weird since I used to be a big fan of it. Oh well, times changes, so do tastes I guess.
