Using the new quest interface and task interface is a pain in the ass. I decided to try and finish varrock tasks, and most of the ones I have left are quest related. switching between the tabs is very annoying.

Once you are in the noticeboard there is still 1 task (well achievements if we are being correct) tab and 1 quest tab, switching between the two is still just one click.

 

What you further described clarifies what you actually meant is annoying which is more than just switching between the tabs, it is the process of going from the live game to the noticeboard tab into the noticeboard and then swapping between achievement and quest tabs.

Right, I was in a hurry to get that post off as I was late for work. Thought I would share my opinion. Upon sharing my opinion, instead of making a statement of "What do you mean? Isn't the task the same as it was before", you instead attacked my intelligence by being facetious and of course the ::facepalm::...

Key change about the new interface that is 100% not the same as it was before: it opens an entire screen-covering interface that you can't see around- no chat, no game messages, nothing - and it smashes two things that were completely different together to free up a tab. You straight up have to interrupt everything you're doing just to navigate them, whereas before you didn't with the quest system and, to a lesser extent, tasks.

I thought that was pretty clear what n64 meant.

Also, is there any way to have an active task without the active task bar floating around (the one thats similar to the Sof icon)?

 

Since the advent of full-screen map, quest/task/challenge/level-up/skill info/etc, I've found it easier and quicker to use an outside task list.

The thought of doing the 150ish incredibly easy (hrm, turn run on??) tasks in Burthorpe while having to constant enter that fullscreen list, and then click on tasks, makes me cringe. You can't even write the info into your chat bar as was possible with the old information popups, similar to how books are currently.

To remove active tasks, you need to go to the achievements tab in the noticeboard and click on options. you will see an option there to remove the active task

While it doesn't solve the full screen issue, Jagex could put in a right click option on the noticeboard tab. So instead of clicking the tab then clicking on quests, I can just right click and select quests option which brings up that full screen right off the bat.

 

As for tasks, got the 120 mahogany coat racks (4 mah. planks per). Guess that'll wait until Jagex balances the cost/xp on construction task. Oak and teak I might have done, but not mahogany.

It doesn't seem to be level dependent, but rather size of the task dependent. I got similar xp boost for prayer and firemaking, and my prayer is 95 while my firemaking is 75.

It's based on accepted XP rates for each skill, which is why you'd get more XP for firemaking than prayer if they were both the same level.

With some skills, having a 99 gives you a faster xp than having a 80. Firemaking and Prayer though have a cap based on the best skilling method so those should look the same. Dungeoneering gets better xp as you get higher, so that's why I got 100k while a 99 can get 250k or more.

 

Still, they should tone down the freaking construction when it comes to mahogany. 1 million gp in supplies is not worth the bonus or the time I could get doing oak tables or stairs.

I got about 50k today for doing one. I was level 70 DG at the time, and it pushed me to 71.

 

Edit: This is the second time I've received a task for pickpocketting 100 paladins. I fail four out of five times at the moment. =_=
