I nearly got him down once, but I ran out of food...

That boss is hard to hit as hell....

Anyone miss their darts right about now?

Downed him!

I think the trick is to kill the very first ranger he spawns before he spawns anymore, afterwards he will spawn melee adds, thats where your deflect/prot comes in handy, you need to stun him continuously after knocking him down to half health, he will go to the lava flow to heal every 15 seconds (exactly the length of a stun cooldown), you MUST have this stun on your action bar, and DO NOT use it on anything else.

If you manage to let him get to the lava fountain, he will heal to full health, and the fight is basically over for you.

Where did you find the sword of Absolutely Guaranteed To Hit Every Time No Matter What?

I'm using an autoattack that stuns with maxed out accuracy and even I can't stop him healing reliably.

--I am really excited for the quest, though I wish they`d stop giving combat rewards for tough quests. Most of the people doing them are either maxed combat and maxed overall, or they are certainly maxed combat. Thus, combat XP is sort of useless to us, I liked the old model of complex quests which gave XP in skills of *your* choice.

This also applies to things like the rewards for hard diaries, for example "free teleport to the slime cave under Ectofuntus" implying anyone with 96 fish/94 herblore/91 farming will be training with the Ectofuntus. Less of an issue with Obsidian armor/Fight Kiln as it's pretty tough and still relevant at maxed combat, but kind of a disappointment for those who have already overcome all of the Tzhaar challenges.

I was referring solely to the XP rewards, which for instance in the Diaries are of your own choosing. My reason for doing so is, if the whole selling point of the quest is "EPIC XP REWARDZ", then they should kind of be tailored to the demographic. The demographic in question happens to be fairly high level players for whom combat XP is most certainly useless. The rest of your points are somewhat valid, but the area of my focus, as I stated, was XP. In the case of this quest, it's forgiveable since the armour rewards seem very alluring.

Yep.

I'm a happy man now :D

You can't use a familiar but you can use dreadnips.

Also, stun him every time your stun-ability (Backhand, kick etc) coolsdown.

Took me 4 attempts; kept running out of food!

I used Z spear

Stun will always work on him from what I can see, you just have to get to him before he gets on that sqaure.

A good tactic i have found is to lure him to the opposite end of the room so he will take longer to get there.

And... once you kill the sole ranger and melee starts to spawn, IGNORE them, they will not do enough damage to you to warrant distracting yourself from the boss.

Did i mention he drains prayer?

THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P.

So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually...

12 shards per bar

1 bar each for gloves and boots

2 bars for each of the 3 helm

3 bars for kite shield/legs/skirt

5 for plate.

Assuming you only make what you need, you need 19 bars minumum, which makes it 228 shards required.

Also downed him with Ice Blitz. I killed the first ranged minion, they when eh switched to champions the Protect form Melee prayer did most of the defence. Rejuvinate and immortality also kept my health fairly high.

Very Fun boss battle i must say, hope they introduce him in the dominion tower later on.

I didnt use rejuvinate, i opted not to use a shield as I thought it was race against time, but the first ranger add was pretty much the game changer, didnt even eat half of my inv by the end (i was using 2h)

Disjointed mess with a disappointingly simple yet tedious 'boss' fight. And to think I had hope after the Rune Mysteries reworks.

Use a maul, ignore everything other than the boss and the first ranger. Use meteor strike ultimate when he's around half hp to completely ignore the entire point of the boss fight. (That you need to use stuns)

Short quest, meh rewards (who needs 250k combat xp? Not even Summoning or Prayer in there either!?), fun little boss at the end. Ice barrage stuns him so much you'll have trouble reading chat through the "boss can't heal" messages.

Upsetting how easy the best gear in game is obtained.

Unless it can be taken outside the aforementioned areas and be viable despite the triple damage, it is far removed from the best armour. It's sort of like a quest from years ago, involving Bane and the rift, where you could fight monsters and deal incredible damage(incredible for pre-EOC, I think in the hundred's), but since that damage was contained to a specific area with useless monsters, it didn't matter all. The Tzhaar City is for the most part useless, except for the Fight Caves and Fight Kiln which, which, greatly aided by this update(in theory), were easy enough to do so as is.
