I think Jagex should offer one month free for 2007scape only to Free to Players. That way they could convince skeptical people that quit and don't want to purchase membership to vote.

Or they could not. Since the 750,000 tier is gone, it looks like free players aren't going to get in regardless.

Jagex has said that if 750k is earned F2P will open up, even after they bumped the rewards for 750k down to 500k.

We are under 450k votes with like 25 hours remaining - it's going to take a sudden surge of votes to get 500k, 750k may as well not exist as a tier at this point.

Never say never. We had math equations predicting 208k at 2 week end and that doubled. I was just saying the 750k tier still exist even if it's not gonna be earned.

That is true but mathematical predictions at an early stage are likely to be off by a fair margin - they rely on the assumption the existing curve of vote rate will persist indefinitely - a fact which is unlikely to be true given any length of time, not to mention the various PR stunts of course had an impact.

What is interesting s the convergence of misplacedme's estimations in the past 24 hours or so

By votes during the most recent log: 460,098

By votes in the last hour: 457,361

By votes in the last 24 hours: 450,687

By votes since logging began: 465,490

She's(?) not using any fancy predictive algorithms just simply projecting the last Vote per minute (from the 5 min logs) Vote per hour, vote per 24 hours and votes in the entire time of the poll forward at a flat rate to the final timeframe.

The fact that all 4 are converging suggests, baring any miraculous change to voting, the estimation is getting quite accurate. Which puts our final tally quite neatly in the 450-460k ballpark, which in turn implies even with a final PR stunt to create another bump (based on how the prior ones worked) we aren't going to hit 500k very easily at all.

Well of course they will get closer as the time gets closer to finishing. That's the point.

But it will be interesting to see if Jagex do anything else to push up the votes, though I would assume a lot of last minute people would be rushing in to vote in the last day, which might lead to small increase in votes per minute. And if it ends up in the 450-460k area which seems quite likely, it will be interesting to see if Jagex call that close enough to 500k.

Only time will tell ;)

50K Boost in votes sounds something Jagex can reasonably do to be honest. They already have shown that they will bribe players for votes, lower the goal post by essentially giving away a free 250k votes, and now saying that if it gets close enough they'll still do it. What's a boosted 50k votes if they already admitted they'll boost at least 20k votes?

Well I know she wasn't using anything fancy. I wouldn't expect anyone to try to model this as some type of regression accounting for serial correlations and heteroskedastcity. Just saying it is possible. Seeing the PR stunt Jagex pulled, I would be surprised if the deadline was extended. In any event, given what we know know of course it'd be more accurate than early estimates. But our estimates for this time are only as best as what we have information for now. We don't know what Jagex still has planned.

Anyway I was just saying the 750k tier still exist.

I wouldn't want f2p players in 07 tbh. It opens the door to a massive flood of bots. Plus I doubt it would pull in any new subscribers like f2p in the regular game does.

Not necessarily. If it was free people could come back, decide they like it and want to experience the larger game and subscribe, just like they do for the regular game.

That said, I happen to agree that free access to the 07 servers would be a bad idea. The flood of bots that would bring in would only kill it before it had a proper chance to succeed.

THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P.

I think once a currency establishes itself into the economy of 07Scape (gold pieces obviously exist, but not in sufficient enough quantity to put a value on them until this point) bots will flood into 07Scape anyway, even if it remains members only. If there's a market for gold to be sold, and the gold prices themselves are relatively stable, it will be farmed.

In before they announce an extension of the poll for another week due to the popularity of 2007scapes rerelease.

I'm a fan of jagex work, but their PR and communication is god aweful.

To be honest with everyone, I know were all playing on P2P servers but I'm just finding my self in F2P areas more. All my work is being done in Varrock, Lumby, and Al-Kharid.

Side note: I also think a new trend is starting here; yesterday the 2007 servers had more players online than the EoC servers at one point, and also today for the most part, the 2007 servers averaged more players than the EoC servers.

Edit: @Above post

Yeah that's true. Jagex needs to continue to monitor the activity first before they should announce anything.

Yeah could be the skeptic in me but forcing people to vote yes before they can try the 07 servers pretty much skews the true end results here. Even if they hit the 500k mark I won't doubt a huge drop off.

So do people think Jagex will extend the poll for a couple extra days? Considering it ends on a Friday, they could easily extend the voting over the weekend and I can see them telling people to urge their friends to vote as a 'last chance'.

Or they'll just say close enough and pass whatever votes they get off as the 500k tier.

I don't think they'll settle for the 250k option.

I see. I was not aware that the 750k tier still existed, since Jagex bumped a bunch of stuff down and it's been scrubbed from the website:

For the most part, that's how I've been playing.

I've only touched Fletching, and done a couple slayer tasks so far, but otherwise I'm starting myself like I did so many years ago.

Getting those easy, f2p skills and quests done, then moving on to the whole game. It's just easier for me mentally that way.

An old player from 2004-2011. I'm back for the 2007 servers, let's see how long this lasts.

I'll go one further -- I don't think they *should* settle for the 250k tier.

I personally have no interest in 07scape, but I think it will have a dedicated fanbase, and it's only going to be viable if the membership fee is comparable to the current one. The poll was (nominally) to indicate economic viability, and they've obviously decided that they can get enough money out of this to be worth it.

That's not surprising considering that free access for everyone is the only benefit left at the 750k teir, and unless they extend the poll they're going to have a hard enough time reaching 500k votes.
