for the record i have only one captain that was blank (seafaring) and this was before the traits fix so now it's suboptimal compared to the percentage boosts

Sigh... Just failed my 13 lacquer voyage. I went in thinking it would fail and yet it still stings of disappointment.

Just finished my Jade portal, meaning that there is now nothing in my port left to work for.

 

Time to Max out all port resources and Trade goods, Bamboo is going to be very painful

I don't understand why people feel the need to max out resources... I mean getting like 10k of each might be appealing for later content, but really? maxing out at 200k each? Wow.

It's only for 'completion' sake, nothing more.

 

Besides that is pretty much the only thing you CAN work on after getting all port armors, scrolls and buildings :P

You can go for max crew. But I tell you, it's a bigger pita than max resources.

Any idea what a theoretical max crew should look like?

When I finish getting all my superior and scrolls ports will be nothing more than a visit daily to do rolls for trade goods. It's going to be a much more interactive MTK.

I would think that going for trade goods to make tradeable armor after you have superior would be more appealing than maxing port resources...

Chances of rolling enough trade good voyages so that it will eat all your ship's time (8 minimum) is slim, so why not send them out on resources.

 

I am also going to maxing trade goods, but I won't be making tradeable armor unless I am reaching the cap with them. Losing tradeable armor is too painful to risk it

Is it even worth upgrading the shipwright to pincers level? It seems like 3% seafaring is much more important than other stats when it has neither a pincer hull nor figurehead.

Unless you are going for max port score, I wouldn't change it

Regarding port resources...my strategy is to reroll any steel voyages that aren't 450/700 and any trait voyages (my captains are maxed on traits) and do any trade goods and any non-steel voyages. I still get plenty of steel (23k+ atm) and I've got several thousand of everything else bar bamboo. I'm easily able to finish all my mission each day doing this.

 

EDIT: Should say this allows me to keep my captain focus on the pincers, which helps get the 5 trade good missions.

Since the armour rework/nerf-everything-that-isnt-gwd-or-nex-gear-to-high-hell I find myself in a state of cba with ports.

 

I think I'll soldier on doing 1 set of voyages a day though, completionst in me wants to get all the scrolls and after that who knows? Maybe I'll get myself some PoP armour on the off chance Jagex manages to make some content where the like 300 extra def vs Nex gear is sooooooooo needed that Pop is worth using (Not that I actually have nex armour)

Then it is still better to do them now than later. You have nothing to gain from delaying until then

you want the moral shipwright because more useful voyages need moral then SF or combat

Well I'd say, multi-talented on all your oxheads & jods, and at least a +100 trait on all other crew (for base crew, in the same stat as well - tigers with slayer etc.), and of course all crew + 5 10k captains at level 10, captains all having the best traits as well. Good luck ;).

but 5/10 plate/scroll whaler and missionary scroll are the only good voyages where SF is more useful, vs. normal chi, 5/10 occultist chi, occultist scroll, convict lacquer, convict scroll

I see your point, but I'd rather be a bit more resistant to RNG than being at the mercy of it, I had a few days before where I ran out of SF crew when I only had 4, and had to reroll great a many voyages because the game refused to give me any other voyages. Trade goods count only a minority of those voyages. I am aiming for capping out resources atm, since it's pretty much the only thing in port I can actually aim for.

Sent a successful 6 lacquer voyage and another 6 lacquer voyage along with a scroll and 5 bones. Should have it down to 24 lacquer to DL plate. Also 20 scrolls left to gain I believe.

Hate oxheads. I had 3 in the first week i unlocked them. lost one on a voyage and been a month now since i've seen any.

After 3 months without seeing an Oxhead, I rolled 2 in the past 2 days. I'm a happy, happy man.

Sent off the final mission for Biologist/Missionary/Convict today, will know tomorrow afternoon if it succeeded. Dumped all the effects I had on it. Also rolled another Oxhead, I'll have enough steel tomorrow to hire it.
