Future Update Discussions

It's mostly the river. Kind of hard to figure where that fits in, since they'd have to cut the waterway all the way into the shore of the lake if they added one to that area.

They could have split the update into two member skill tutorial areas.

It looks to me like they've added a river to make a more finite border between taverly and burthorpe, certainly looks nice!

Could someone post that picture again please because I can't see it.

I think that's Taverley dungeon and those are blue dragons. If you look at the other screenshots on that page, you can see the trend of development. The last picture on the screenshots page is the black dragons lair in the Taverley dungeon. Those appear to be Black Dragons to me, including a baby Black Dragon.

It appears that they're not just going to rework Burthorpe above ground, but below ground too.

What river would run through Burthorpe? Is this an existing river or would it be an entirely new one?

That looks more like Brimhaven Dungeon, notice the pics with the red dragons on a separated area with an agility obstacle + a baby dragon, the wild dogs, iron + steel dragons with eggs around, etc... Last time I saw blue dragons, they were not so clear in color. Altho, I'm curious about that shade of red, it looks more brown-ish than red, I'm assuming those are red dragons since it looks exactly like their entrance in Brimhaven Dungeon.

wtf is that

Considering they said Burthorpe is going to be a bit of a members tutorial and it has a slayer flag I'd say it's quite obviously a giant straw figure/puppet used to teach us about slayer (eg specific items required to kill)

wtf is that

At first I thought this was a revamped Lumbridge made into a sort of tutorial island-esque thing.

Then I saw the trolls.

Should be interesting to see how it all works out for Burthorpe.

This

Rs version of it.

This isn't what I expected when I asked for more effigies ...

Has anyone else noticed the Slayer skill icon on that banner? I'm assuming that effigy is going to be used to teach new players about the skill in some way.

I'm interested as to what's in the background of that image, seems to be some construction of sorts going on. I'd say its a teaser for player owned ports, but burthorpe lacks a significant mass of water as it stands. Also I'd have thought they'd just stick the ports onto miscellania. Either way this looks like a major re-shuffling of the area, quite looking forward to seeing how it turns out :)

It's definitely NOT player owned ports. Just have a look at the BTS, it says right there that burthorpe will be teaching new members their skills. I thought it'd be pretty obvious.

Btw if you want to see more pictures of the area, have a look at the media section on the runescape homepage.

I like these changes. That slayer person has a pen behind them with 3 different animals in, I think she'll teach slayer using that, I think the effigy is just for show.

That building site appears to be Taverley side of the river, what are the Druids building o.O

It doesn't look like a building sit at all to me.

Looks like 1 house partly in the fog, then a watermill right by the river; with a lift platform/hoist partially in the fog that would be used to taking grain to the top of the mill to be loaded for grinding; it is the 1 realistic making feature most rs are missing, an external (or sometimes internal) basic pulley lift to take the large and heavy grain supplies to the top where they are put in to be ground and make their way down again.

How is this gonna work?

Maybe it'll replace the wall?

Why can't the Big Bang be done by the hand of God?

It could have, but it is next to impossible because it also could have been caused by the flying spaghetti monster, or one of the other infinite number of deity possibilities.

But that makes no sense since various teaser pictures clearly show the river between burthorpe and taverly. The wall is not in the right place for this.

Yeah, this is what I was thinking:
