I agree, especially when you lose membership, but don't want to drop a whole lot of stuff to get more space to store things. Eg if you hadn't had chance to sell expensive members objects.

I wholeheartedly agree with you and I support.

i wish to bo optimist. but i'm not. i bet jagex won't give us any more bank space 'couse we "don't pay" for the game... :(

Always buying raw lobbies at 200ea

Yes! We need more space, I can't tell you how many times I've tried to bank my items but have to keep at least three out at all times just to have enough room. It is really a problem that needs to be fixed.

I'm with you 100%.

I'm going to milk Goon's teats

Don't take me wrong now, I supported this thread and posted some time ago (around page 10).

Anyways, I want to correct something about the ads math quoted on the first post. You made it like if it was everyone clicked the ads ONCE per day, wich I doubt. Now tell me, what percentage of runescape players CLICKS the ads at least once per time they play? Hmm, let's see... Not much I'd say... Maximum 40%! Now don't come in saying "I do click it!" because you're only one of the people in the small percentage that does it... That'd lower their ad-money a LOT. And this Percentage is probably much lower! like 20% or perhaps even less.

Second, 9000000 free players? Hmm, how many that play? Lets say 50% play (I'd say MUCH less, but okay, easier math :P ) that's 4500000... And 4500000 that DONT play. Now, per player, there is a huge MEMORY being wasted on the server. Bank, inventory, skills, name, preferences, music unlocked, etc. Let's say this is 1MB per player (It'll probably be MUCH more... Even more for members)... So... it'd be 4500000MB... 4500GB... 4.5TB That are BEING WASTED. With players coming in every time... They need to keep adding resources and stuff, so it also costs a lot.

Third, let's say you add 10 bank space (let's say 1KB per row... even tough it probably is wrong). 10KB times 9000000 = 90000000 KB more! That means 90000Mb, 90GB... Just for 10 bank space? Ooops! Hard drive upgrade needed!

Finally, I'd say that the ads don't pay as much as they'd like them to.

I'm not saying you don't diserve this... I actually agree with the idea.

But this is just a deeper explanation why even us members don't get more bankspace.

Now, I will PROBABLY have done mistakes with the percentages I said (percentages that click ads for example, it'll probably be much lower)

Any corrections and critiscism appreciated, as long as it's not flaming.

Heres an idea jagex should delete all f2p accounts under lvl 10 if they are not used at least once a month it would give the extra space and get rid of acounts that were made but never used. It would also get rid of lvl 3 auto miners that cheat there way into runescape! Just an idea i had and it just could work, i mean who cares if there lvl 8 account get deleted and they never even use it. It would also free up a ton of usernames. I don't know if anyone will like this idea but it would be worth a try. :-k

good idea bout deleting those lvl 10 charaacters gandorf61. I totally agree with u. F2p is now tearing itself apart. How many f2pers do u see everyday wearing a full zammy? i can tell u i hardly saw any! Why?! because jagex are not interested in f2pers! They make updats for p2p but none for f2p. In all my years of runscaping (im lvl 88) not a quest has been made for f2ps...

I guess as more and more f2pers quit in the near future, and less and less become members, Jagex will realise their mistake.

Jagex is unable to know if you are autoing until someone reports you, I think :? Banning all accounts under lvl10? Unfair for all the people who are pure skillers and not train combat, they will get their accounts banned without reason while they are taking a break. Maybe it could do but with lots of more time, like 1 year or that and it's still dangerous... :-k

Some thoughts:

Bank space is defined by the size of the player file. I believe I was told the player file is currently about 5k. When bank slots are added, it decreases the space needed for quests and future updates.

I do not know if this differs between f2p and p2p, but my guess is the code is roughly the same.

An idea may be fantastic-- I think a line or two would be ok, but you're got to back up something like this with how the player file would be managed. Jagex has hinted *very very* strongly about how difficult it is to free up file space for more bank slots, and apparently this is because they want space for quests and updates.

Why not increase the player file, you might say? I'm not certain, but I suspect that doing so increases the overall memory usage. Jagex has attempted to make concessions for lower-end machines with low detail (although I am not sure how they added music in low detail without a memory increase) and with the Runescape client, which is simply a browser shell.

Add to this that some users are still on dialup. This isn't too terribly unusual in some locations, such as Australia and New Zealand.

What I have seen one shareware MMORPG (Rubies of Eventide) do is offer benefits to players who make a one-time donation to the company. This could be a legitimate solution to many players. This could be a version of p2p that adds some bank space and a few more features.

This might not translate well because free to play is already at a "sponsored" level, but it is an idea to consider. Very likely, if it is implemented, full f2p ads would remain or be only somewhat limited.

Enjoy the free bump :)

My suggestion for a "sponsored" level would be a one-time payment of $20, or about 4 months worth of membership.

Jagex may find many F2Pers sending in this amount for the moderate increase in bank space, and fewer advertisements, so they may be more amendable to such an idea.

They will still have brand new players coming in to view the amount of advertisements F2P has now, even with a number of players that may sit at the sponsored level before going P2P, and this new players will still have an incentive to send in money for this level, or P2P.

It is a moderated solution that may still increase Jagex's profit margins while covering their operating costs for server maintenance.

I am not sure if they will add more servers or not. They may designate a number of F2P servers as "sponsored" if they implement this idea, and only add a few more F2P servers to keep new players coming to the game, while providing a strong incentive to move up a tier.

If they made more bankspace, that would be one less benifit of being a member....

66,931st To 99 Strength Achieved January 23rd, 2009

Draconic Visage: 1+ \\ DK Drops: 169+ \\ GWD Drops: 74+

My theory here is work = benefit.

work = money

hence, money you pay = benefit you get

Looking(ignoring) a banner ad is not work, hence the benefit(game) is not earned in any way.

For jagex, they have to see a benefit for increasing bank size. Is there really any value? Is anyone going to leave runescape if they don't get their bank space(probably not). Is anyone who didn't play before going to come?(probably not, they don't know what it means, and it really means nothing to the newb)

Then there's loss. There are some people who are going to become members for the space(probably). Thus keeping the bank space low is to Jagex's benefit.

The one time payment for space I guess could work this out, as the few ppl who would become members would be outweighed by the masses giving the one time payment that would never become members. But then, only Jagex know what percentage of players will end up becoming members anyway.

I think an alternate way of storing holidays and random items would work best by returning the bank space needed to it's normal value. Maybe the clothes shop in varrock could hold all your random clothes?

As for holidays, I'm forced to store all mine via diango, as are most ppl.(I assume)

I really hope Jagex makes a one time donation available. I don't care about ads, looking(ignoring) something isn't work at all. But I would definitely pay for some extra space.

Oh oh!!! New idea!!!!! Extra space for a new, f2p, advanced quest. Really advanced. So Jagex would make most of us satisfied without increasing the user file(or something) for all the new players.

EDIT: Thread has been cleaned.

Before anyone says 'omg you trimmed 99% of it', please consider that cleaning 25 pages meant a very slow response time from the server. The forums also were down for some maintenance, and so this took longer for me to process.

It was much easier for me to remove all the responses so I have a blank slate for future cleaning.

The responses are not totally gone, so I will allow Prankster_King to edit in all the names if he so chooses.

Is there any chance that we could have a link to the posts that were clipped to some background area??? It would at least give people an idea of all the things that have been gone over, and may potentially counteract futher spamming and restating of already-mentioned thoughts that have been hashed to no end.

Just my thought and question...

he said that if you don't give f2pers new stuff like armor, i will spread a rumour that runescape is boring and tell his friends to make multiple accounts to blow up the system.

i think i got a good idea i just dont think any 1 fought of this i think there shode be somthing that u can store sets of stuff in that takes up only 1 invatory space and that will be in somthing that will store these like for example u could have a bag for event costomes a bag per costom and a bag for the rest of the bags to be stored in and all u need to do is to take out the bag then take out the costum and wear it that will be cool and only take up 1 scape for all costums \' ::'

I seriously doubt that his complaint actually pushed Jagex into making more timmed items. It takes months of programming to make even a minor update. Chances are, they were already planning to add those before he complained.

My apoligies for the late reply. I have been fairly busy recently. Thanks to everyone that is supporting this.

It has also been brought to my attention by Jaklumen, that another alternate possibility would be to pay a fee of $20 for more bank space and slightly reduced adverts. This idea is very plausible, and I would deffinately reccomend it. I'm currently in the process of editing that idea into my first post. Also, I will request that the earlier posts be re-added, or a link be provided to them. Many strong points were made in those 25 pages, and it would be a shame to lose them all.

Once again, I thank everyone for their feedback and comments.

No it wouldn't. I already debunked this theory a number of times in the old topic.

Tetsuya.png

Ive already agreed to your idea before the topic was cleaned (which I am quite happy about due to the fact that it runs quicker and smoother, so nice job on cleaning it. ) But I am just posting my thoughts again with a few more ideas which I think Prankster_King thought was a good idea.

We definity need a bit more bank spaces and I would just be happy to have 12 more extra slots for all the Random event stuff, and even more importantly my merchantng items. I don't know how many times I have had to sell all my ores, bars, and fishing equipment because of the lack of space in my bank. And then finding out a little while later that I could of sold it for twice the price which I had sold it for just to make some space. I also can't save up too many items in bulk to sell for a bigger price do to the small bank size. :x :XD:

Here's my idea:

Delete all accounts that are under combat lvl 10 and overall lvl 150 if they are not active (used) within a year and a half (about 16months). By doing this it would clear up a lot of memory usage for jagex free up some usernames and allow F2P to have a few more updates and a bigger bank.

Well you can add me to the list of supporters and I sent in a copy of the message to jagex. I might do it again in few weeks.

Also my idea is still inthe proccess of prefection so it still needs a little changes to it. :boohoo:
