Baby-faced Alfie, who is 13 but looks more like eight, became a father four days ago when his girlfriend Chantelle Steadman gave birth to 7lb 3oz Maisie Roxanne.

Well its not that hard. Kids don't have sex in front of their parents so they wouldn't know. When they found out, they didn't want an abortion...meaning birth is the only way.

Doesn't disturb me particularly. Young teens have sex all the time, and it isn't like they are going to tell their parents.

4 feet tall? No wonder he looks 6. I hope the baby's well looked after, 13 is far to young to even think about fathering a child never mind actually doing it.

I'm not sure whether to worship this child's way with the women, be angry at society for letting someone younger than me (only by a year) lose his virginity before I do, be angry at his parents for not teaching him about Unprotected sex, or to be mad that this is another news thread.

If they were both 15, I really wouldn't care. However those two years between 13 and 15 are huge in maturity development.

I don't find this shocking at all, kids having kids isn't too unusaul. I find it sad more than anything, the lad just doesn't have a clue - he's just an immature child who has no clue what the next few years have in store for him. His parents should be ashamed that they obviously haven't educated him on what being a father entails.

It's probably a typo, while he's a kid I doubt he will only be 4ft tall. They probably meant 5ft or that he is 4ft something. This is The Sun's website, they don't really care about accuracy.

In some ways I am not surprised, but in others, I am deeply disturbed.

Yes, certain people at my grade school were having sex at that same age, but whenever you hear of a pregnancy at that age, it still strikes a chord with me.

Unless I missed something, it looked like they were going to keep and raise the child themselves instead of putting the baby up for adoption. I don't agree with this at all. A family already on government support should not be able to keep another financial burden until they can prove that they can sustain themselves. Another baby is the last thing they need.

Gotta hand it to the kids for not having an abortion though. Shows some great maturity there.

He looked pretty short in the picture and could very well only be 4ft. although a typo is also possible

I have my questions about not giving it up for adoptions but since I dont know them its not my business to say(after all it will be like getting a new sibling for the 13 year old at least).

Hopefully everything this turns out all right, shame to see this happening though.

How is adoption worse than being raised by teenage parents that are from government supported families that probably cannot adequately support you.

Adoption is the best solution I can think of.

Some people's reactions to these kind of stories amuse me. They don't whether to applaud the child for wanting to keep the baby or deride society for letting something like this happen.
