I've got 90 minutes and a lot of unpopular opinions...

It was time I threw my axe in the air...

    success.png

(yes, that's right. That horrible bug I suffered is fix'd, woohoo!)

Because I leveled up (You'll see that pic a lot, methinks)

    95mining.png

So, where now? 96 I s'pose. 912k to go, that's 28.5 hours at peak efficiency, so if I even it out to an hour a day, that's a full February. Granted, I'm not efficient, so this may take a while.

    Until the next time!

As I write this I am sincerely crying; the wet deviants flow onto my lap. Do not mistake this as an attempt to elicit sympathy, as that is not my intention. Rather, I hope that the expression of my sadness to someone-anyone-will ultimately end this unseasonable period of self-pity. I really could not care less if I do not know you in person or if you disagree with how I am feeling, you are a person and that is all that matters.

There is this woman that I love, and that I have loved for some time. I have grown quite fond of her in such a short time, but I wish I did not, as it troubles me so. Her hair is kept short and the rich brown color is the envy of many. A set of hazel stars light up her face, further calling attention to her alluring hair. They sometimes trap me beneath their glow and an effervescent feeling wells inside of me; I cannot look away. And finally her enticing crimson lips are the source of my yearning. It is disheartening that she does not see me this way and that it may prove that she could never see me this way. Based on this fact, I am unsure why I have not looked away and moved on. At this point, I fear that it will not be possible. To you, the reader, your eyes have not deceived you, I do indeed love another woman. The only sort of solace I can take at this moment is in my sprained ankle, the swelling and raw skin that pulses evenly with my heart. I'm not sure what's worse, the fact that this proves to Adrenal that I am a masochist, or that I wish to twist my ankle in such a way as to distort it even more, so as to take more pleasure from it.

Alas, suger o'er the Devil still leaves a bitter hell.

A friend and I went on a quest run last night. We completed Contact! and thought would do another. He wanted to do Troll Romance, but I hadn't done Troll Stronghold yet, so he helped me with that one before we jumped all over Troll Romance. During the final battle against Arrg I hit my best melee hit so far: 32! Using an Abyssal Whip, an Amulet of Fury, and a Super Strength potion :) We were going to do another one, but the sun was about to come up with my friend who had to work in the afternoon, so he left to get some sleep. I was still hungry for more quests though haha. So I did Wanted!, but got really tired during it. So as soon as I was done, I logged off and went to sleep myself.

Good night of questing! I love questing, but it's always more fun with a friend :)

    What I do.

Just recently Funorb released a new update finally making a single-player option! It took them hell of a time but the zamorak

campaign is finally playable! So I decided to go and try it a bit. After about 10-15 minutes I finished the first level. I though it

was quite easy but decided to continu maybe a mission or two but found out I had quite a hard time with these other missions!

In fact it took me 15-20 minuteseach of them! I am very impressed for an flash game and I think Jagex team did a great work on it!

I also noticed a few problems with the IA but nothing major. I havent finished it yet but I'll defenetly be working on that inbetween two

sesions of Dragon Age :Origins. So if you havent went out and played it yet go and try it out theres also some new achivements to

earned for the more hardened of you!

    Nice update Jagex! =D>

    It's certainly odd...

    No, I am not crazy.

Yes I am aware that pot training (heh) costs 20-30gp/exp, caviars are unbuyable, and everyone and their ogres are training to get extreme potions. The Herblore Exp source I am avocating is simply: Cleaning Herbs. Herb cleaning, not only provides decent exp rates, can also be one of the more profitable activities in game (more below). Because of the large amount of GP involved, however, the activity can be quite dangerous to your financial health if the risks are not properly managed.

This might be pointing to the obvious, but all that requires to clean a herb is left click. More importantly, it is one fo the few activities ingame with no animation delay associated with it. It is theoretically possible to clean as much as 6k herbs a hour, although 3-4k is more reasonable and quite manageable. Herb cleaning provides around 8-14 exp a herb, and averages about 100 gp profit each, so it's completely reasonable to expect about 35k (3.5k x 10) herblore exp and 350k (3.5k x 100) gp a hour from herblore cleaning alone. Even if herblore exp is only worth 20gp/exp to you, that's over 1m/hour of wealth you're generating.

If it is so good, why isn't everyone doing it? The obvious reason is that many people don't enjoy repetitive clicking. The potential physical strain aside, I personally enjoy the fact your exp rate is dependent on your real life ability to focus and click rapidly. An alternative explanation is that for most of rs history, grimy herbs costs more than clean ones, so player no longer bothered with it.

Everything changed with the extreme potion update, though. The once stagnant herbs market suddenly fluctuate on daily basis with thousands of herbs rapidly changing hands. With nearly tripling of profits in herbs, more players switched their MTK options to herb rather than raw fish or flax, and more farmers planted their herb seeds regularly. This lead to an rapid increase in both supply and demand of herbs and as a result constantly changing herb-cleaning profit/lost ratio.

What does this mean for herb cleaning profits? One is that it has become much easier to purchase grimmies. Lucky for us, much of the additional herb supplies come from players whom do not have the herblore level to clean it, and rather than going through the hassle of using the assist system, simply tossing the herbs onto the GE for us to purchase. Second, because the herbs market change on daily basis, a profitable herb-cleaning for one day may not be for the next, or just unbuyable the next. This requires an careful study of the market before every herb cleaning session. Finally, players need to know the underlying worths of herbs, to avoid losing GP on pricing bubbles (merchanting clans have been active in the area. I learned this the hard way: collecting 5k of Grimy Dwarf Weed and watched it dropped 2k each!)

This seems awfully allot of work, but lucky, we have allot of brilliant runescapers whom have laid the foundation for us already. RuneWiki, as usual, have several herblore related calculators premade, but the most important of which for us is:

    http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Calculators/Herbs

    herb_runewiki.jpg

This gives us a quick visual breakdown on what herbs are currently profitable for clean. The guidance it provide is insufficient, however, and several caveats must be observed. While many low level herbs are profitable (<50), their grimmies are generally are not in great supply. In general, only higher level herbs such as Snapdragon and Dwarf Weed can be purchased rapidly (there's essentially zero supply of Grimy Torstol). At the same time, higher level herbs tend to cost more and can tie up significant amount of GP if it doesn't immediately sell. Because of the danger of price crashing, it's always better to purchase earlier after in a GE update cycle rather than near the next GE update cycle. Remember, herb cleaning and price merchanting are two different activities that may not work optimally together.

A final caviet is that the RuneWiki calculator does not always update immediately, and the HTTP parser round off higher pricing herbs to three significant digits, and thus can affect the profit outlook of herb cleaning. The lesson is always double check the pricings before purchase at GE. As a bonus, I also created my own GE parser* using Google Docs that provides more up-to-date numbers.

    Primadog's Herb Cleaning Calculator

    herb_docs.jpg

Herb Cleaning is an overlooked but profitable and efficient way to raise herblore. I hope this may help someone out there also looking to enjoying the wrath of Super Antifires! Here are some final numbers and tips I'll leave:

    35k+ Herblore exp/hr

    350k+ GP profit/hr (in addition)

    Recommended:

60+ herblore level (higher level can clean additional herbs)

    5M+ startup money

Never hold more than 2k of a herb time at the same time!

The bank for herb cleaning is in the Dueling Arena, because it has both one-click banking and a banker that allows you to collect GE purchases.

    herb_da.jpg

Special thanks to the brilliant brainymidget for his guide onGE parsing using Google Doc.

My day-to-day misadventures, and such. I suppose. Kinda.

I suppose it's been a while since I posted a blog, and I did post this in the Today... thread in OT, but I may as well but it here for something new. This took place last Thursday, December 3, 2009.

    Project Operation: Reaver Drop

Here's the plan: it's the last Thursday Night band rehearsal. Something awesome needs to go down! So we start off with 4 people bringing laptops to school. During the band classes we have all period to do homework, because we practice later that night. So we had all these 4 people going at it on a LAN match of Starcraft for a period.

That isn't the important part, however. Three people, named Matt, Marc, and Cody, ditched sixth period and took off to get supplies. They spent $50 on supplies at Target, getting a long extension cord, 3 boxes of Christmas lights, and a 3ft miniature tree. And of course, food. So after school is over, the band director kicks everyone out of the band room and we have our friend Greasy hide in the locker room. The director walks into there to check no one is in there, and he is expertly positioned ON TOP OF THE DOOR FRAME and hidden from sight (the guy opens the door, looks in, and walks away). That's skills right there. So, Project Operation Reaver Drop is ago. Matt Marc and Cody get back from their mission at Target with supplies and Greasy lets us in the band room when the janitor is out of sight. We head in there and start setting up. We managed to strand the extension cord hidden around behind cabinets and into the locker room, and then we can begin. Cody is the ninja of our little group and climbs to the top of the lockers and starts hanging lights. What we had to do is pretty much pop up a ceiling tile, strand the lights through, and repeat. We then set up the tree on top of the lockers and made a sign telling other band members to bring an ornament from home and put it on the tree. We start to head out, after contacting a member outside to make sure the janitor wasn't nearby and booked it out of there, except for Cody who decided to mess around for a bit with the director's office (idiot). So then the janitor makes his way towards the band room and we call him telling him to hide, he tells us he ran into the hallway with amazing speed and made it out through there, unseen by the janitor.

Project Operation: Reaver Drop complete. No videos, but pictures!

    codye.jpg

    litup.jpg

Next up, in whoever knows how long is Project Operation: Comfort Zone. All I will say is this definitely has the highest chance of failure yet, and if completed may cause great and terrible consequences. Fun stuff.

    lol?

Lately I've been Woodcutting, getting annoyed of the "ch" sound, I'm tireed of getting God Bird Eggs. Since I have all three adult versions, I've been wanting a Raven. I hear the bird's chirping after a New Super Mario Bros. Wii commercial goes off. It was a bird's nest within it, an egg. The egg wasn't as bright as the Zamorak eggs. So I was thinking, "My eyes are messing with me." I pick it up, it's still lighter in my inventory. I search it, I get a Raven's Egg. I was so happy, I run to Yanille's pet shop and place it in the incubator. I'm currently awaiting for it to hatch :D

No particular subject, although I will have recurring themes such as forum theme development.

    The ideas

Since I want this theme, if I ever get around to developing it, to be for the people by the people, I have taken some usability ideas and compiled them here. Feel free to add, in fact I encourage you to.

    • Make the jumpbox act like it did in phpBB3, so you don't have to press the "Go" button (Indy500fan)
    • Make minimized forums smaller and more space-efficient
    • Use a modern color scheme to create a smooth feel. Like chocolate.
    • The ability to drag forums on the index in whichever order you like (Hawkxs)
    • Do the same with the tabs at the top
    • A place to log in on the index page (Hawkxs)
    • Make the theme more visually logical by making read/Unread topics easier to differentiate (Among other things).

    The design

I have a lot of sketches in my room of how I want the tabs to look- Similar to tabs in Google Chrome. I also have a color scheme or two in mind, either the feel of chocolate like I mentioned earlier or the feel of a white LED shining through plastic. I got that last idea from seeing my brother's external hard drive. That isn't a very good picture to illustrate what I mean as it isn't in a dark room.

Please, post your ideas for the new skin!

I've been doing a few drawings so that I can make a unique siggy, it's freaking tough to do but I think I'm getting it somewhat. Have a look and comment if you like. I did it using the sketch on paper method and transfer it to GIMP. Keep refining till it look decent (again it's lengthy process).
